Maybe I'll also make Fearne from c3 !! But for now I'm moving forward on Orin and Dame Aylin and Jester~ PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT YOUR LOVE FOR CRITROLE IN THE COMMENTS! HOW DID YOU GET INTO IT AND WHAT DO THEY MEAN TO YOU????

    Can confirm irons can melt fabrics with ANY plastic in them. If you're not working with purely natural fabrics (cotton, wool, bamboo, animal fur, real leather) then a too hot iron is going to burn through the plastic if left there too long :/ if I'm ever working with synthetics I NEVER set my iron to a setting higher than 2/3 of the max heat it can go to and I take it REALLY slowly.
    I'm no physicist but my rule is always: unless you know the fabric is 100% natural all the way through, never set it to a high temperature when ironing. Go halfway at most and turn it up as you need SLOWLY.
    That being said, making ALL of Yasha's entire level 20 outfit in 6 fucking days???? HUGELY IMPRESSIVE even with the setbacks (and tbh I've never met a CR cosplayer who didn't have a million things go wrong with their outfit). You did amazing!!! And hey it's a learning process with making stuff, just be sure to take it slowly next time if you can :)
    Well done either way tho!! It looks amazing!

    That happened to me one time when I was working with Micro Suede. I had my iron up too high and it melted a hole in my fabric, like 1 inch hole. Luckily I was folding it so I had a line to trim it and I could cut off the piece anyway

    If you want a straight-looking stitch that can stretch, try a satin stitch! It's a really narrow, really tightly done zig-zag stitch. you make your stitch length almost 0, and take your stitch width as low as you can get it, and you can also use it to completely cover the edges of anything you topstitch on to make the connection look real crisp~

    This is so good! Love seeing your process on how you are making your Yasha! i'm also making a yasha cosplay but haven't seen many people post anything besides pictures. The heat n Bond for the straps are so smart, going to definately be doing that for mine!

    Usually you don't have to cut metal rods for 3D prints, you just have to buy it in the correct length. All the ones I've ever gotten are designed with the standard length you buy in a store in mind. If it popped off that easily, I would just carefully disassemble the entire thing and try with metal rods instead. :(

    I think the iron problem was that it was left a bit too long on the fabric, maybe ?

    • @simrell
      @simrell  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      oh heck 😩 it didn't feel any longer than the other times but I wasn't timing myself haha

    • @hlawatis
      @hlawatis 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Too long or too hot or both. The iron melted the powermesh.

    • @elnic_kai
      @elnic_kai 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      too long with the full pressure of its own weight staying in the same place concentrating the heat?

    • @Sin_Thetic
      @Sin_Thetic 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That heat and bond is meant to be lower heat for delicate and it should be like 2-3 seconds of pressing. I'm not that familiar with power mesh, but my guess is it requires a low heat setting

    My biggest life saver when topstitching things like your straps are dual needles! Its a pair of parallel needles that sew at the same time so you dont have to do both sides individually!

    The iron heat was too hot for a prolonged period. Most mesh/stretch fabrics are made from a poly fibre, and prolonged exposure to heat above 30 degrees will affect it. Usually just 3 seconds hover is more than enough to get things bonded. Anything above that, the iron will attack (do it again)
