    Nice one Saffy. That was a bit different from the Stelvio pass. It was nice that you were willing to have an adventure on a little bike. So many people seem to think you need an enormous BMW GS to go anywhere more than a few miles. Little bikes are fun too.

    By Christ that was a close one on the cattle grid Glad you got away with it, many do not. Wet steel is deadly, always look out for manholes in the road and never cross them with a lean on, especially in the wet.

    • @SaffySprocket

      Ah man, I honestly didn't expect it! I thought that maybe it was because the bike I was on had tiny wheels! I've never had any issues with my Sv650

    • @tonysansom
      @tonysansom ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SaffySprocket That's true, smaller wheels mean a smaller contact patch. Also, you had to steer round that car which meant you were at a slight angle approaching the cattle grid. Always try and approach them perpendicular to the metal bars. The bike is much less likely to slide sideways then.

    Please tell me you did the B4403 past Bala lake on the way home. Cracking bit of road, and in that weather, would have had a couple of streams running over it to the lake.
    Given the area, and the weather, I think I was actually around Bala the same days as you were. The days after that storm left some lovely floods and a lot of road closures. If you saw someone with an ST1300 going places that a 300kg bike has no business going, yep, that was me.
    Massive congrats on the cattle grid save. No need to hit them slowly, just upright and gentle throttle, no brakes. But it seems you've mastered the "yank on the bars" to correct the slip anyhow!

      It's called 'Bwlch y Groes' - HellFire is it's nickname :-)

    Slip 'n slide, Saffron didn't high side.
    Riding in the rain sometimes has to be done,
    Check the direction before you begin,
    A longer ride is just more fun.
    Even soggy the views were mighty fine.

      Best views are on a sunny day, best brews are after a soggy day 😂
