    I'd like to add the Tissot Seastar 1000 as an honorable mention. I bought the Quartz Chronograph Version with the green dial about a month ago and I absolutely love it. I don't know the pricing in the states but the european list price is 625€. Crown and buttons are all screw-down and its listed for 300 meters. To me it's simply gorgeous with its shimmering dial and really strong blueish lume. There are also many other color combinations.

    Citizen ProMaster EcoDrive BN0150-10E (basic black). Under $200, ISO certified, and practically maintenance-free. Then there's always the Casio Duro, or Vostok Amphibia.

    I’m surprised to not see any Orients, I know you’ve had a good relationship with them. I absolutely love my black/gold Kamasu. Works well as a dive and even as a daily.

    • @jaykwonzzz
      @jaykwonzzz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wonder if it's because they aren't true dive watches. I have the Kamasu II (the vintage model) and I love the thing. Then again, I also think the King Samurai is better than the King Turtle. Honestly, the only model I agree with on this list is probably the Mido.

    • @rmoffettutube
      @rmoffettutube ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaykwonzzz The Seiko and the Casio were the only ones with the Diver's label on them. So you could say even the Mido isn't a true diver.

    Again with Mido, the Ocean Star Tribute. 40.5mm and it has the dome crystal and a lush retro aluminium bezel with a powermatic 80 too. Plus it has the BEST bracelet I've ever worn at anything near the price point.

    I have owned all of these except for the Rotary.
    The Mido looked amazing in pictures. I found it on a popular jewelry website for $464 new and pulled the trigger.
    I did not like it on my wrist. Looked like a cheap watch trying to look expensive.
    I sold it unworn for a profit.
    I have two of the Doxa. Not a divers dive watch IMO but a sharp looking desk diver with real diving roots. I have the shark and the orange.
    Turtle sits next to my Bulova Devil Diver in a watch case for eye candy only. Cushion cases like that are not my taste to wear but felt I had to own one. This is the best one on the list imo. The Frogman is the probably the best functionality for use.
    Fun list!

    Hazard 4, Heavy Water Diver is a titanium cased, strong sapphire crystal, tritium lume watch , rated to 300m, with a Swiss Ronda movement under $1000 that is built to last…. And to answer your question, people buy dive watches because they want something rugged and durable so they don’t have to worry about breaking their watch such as this example.

    I don't understand why you rarely see these brands swap out the day indicator for the (much more useful, imho) caller GMT hand, which is basically the same complication? Why can't we have a Seiko King Turtle GMT?

  • @barrettwbenton
    @barrettwbenton ปีที่แล้ว

    For me, it's Doxa (though I'm more partial to the Sub 300T), and Seiko's King Turtle, but since I hardly swim, let alone dive, I've just scratched that stylistic itch with Seiko's 5 Sports GMT 003 (Blueberry/Batman/What-evah), whose functions I'll actually use occasionally. (Yeah, I know you prefer another, older Seiko GMT, but that thing is 1) *way* too big for my wrist, and 2) mostly available in much-abused form on the 'Bay. Nice comparo, though.
