Graham Goble should be recognised as an oustanding composer and musician .He is outstanding. This is such a very clever piece of music.I just love it.Beautifully orchestrated as well.He has real talent and always seemed so humble.Cheers to Graham Goble and thanks for posting this.
🎉we and my son Kieran sung to this masterpiece at karaoke at molsworth oval new year eve 2024 we had big crowd it brought so many memories back god bless Graeham brilliant song of all time ❤❤😢😢
It blows my mind how good this early material from Graeham is. It instantly displays his greatness as a vocalist and songwriter. He is without a doubt on the same list as Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Todd Rundgren, and the other top tunesmiths of our time.
Arguably and ironically Little River Band’s best song, recorded under its former name; a gliding-harmony and distorted guitar-drenched meteorite that fell out of the back half of 1972 and landed in a sea of long-lost orchestration. This was song-writing perfection.
Would have loved to have heard Little River Band do a cover of this song. With the additional lush vocal harmonies and David Brigg's smooth as silk guitar skills, it would have gone to another level and probably become a global hit.
I've requested this to be played at my farewell, I love it so much. So peaceful, so simple, so beautiful. Graeham Goble, what a wonderful all-time talent you are for Australian music.
@@GraehamGoble Hi Graeham, this truely is one of your greatest masterpieces. I can't get enough of it. It saddens me that radio stations don't play it.
This hauntingly beautiful song is so short at only 2 1/2 minutes. It leaves me wanting for more. Your silky smooth vocals Graeham are perfect but short lived.
I remember exactly where I was when I first heard this song as a 14 year old. Such a beautiful song that resonates with me to this very day. Amazing production and mix, cord progression and melody ...awesome.
Love love love Mississippi..Beautiful voice and lyrics..Such an underrated talent...Went on to write and play in one of the best bands in the world..Little River Band 🌺
just heard this on coast fm last night havent played this on radio for 20 years or so looked this song up and found out it was graham goble wow great song
An all-time favourite song. I would love to know how you played the couple of chords at the end of some of the verses and the instrumental, one beat each. Exquisitely moody...
This band set up and played in Russ's parents place back in the early 70's, we were their neighbors and I was on 12/teen, remember it well but someone called the Police so they had shut it down :(
This was part of the soundtrack for me growing up in Oz in the time of Skyhooks, Daddy Cool, Russell Morris' "Real Thing" hit, etc. To my 11 yr old head interpreting social/political commentary, the lyrics conveyed that what seems anachronistic will come right back with a fashion update. Would I have put it that way? lol. But it was a vibe, and transmitted this almost spooky kinda message. Thanks Graeham! 😀
I remember first hearing this on the second series of Underbelly back in 2009. I was captivated immediately. To my ear Graeham's vocals have abit of a John Lennon vibe on this track. I can definitely hear abit of John Lennon's vocal tone in his voice.
Hi Nev, Derek didn't play on 'Kings Of The World'. This clip is from 1972 before Beeb & Derek joined Mississippi. The 1972 recording had Barry Sullivan on Bass and Geoff Cox on Drums.
now im 63 and still listen to this song
I am 68 and like you, love this song.
Just checking in, I'm 64.
Rest in peace fellas. Im sure u passed by now

In my opinion one of Australia's greatest songs ever
Better than "Old Man Emu"? Come on cobber!
Loved this song the moment I first heard it, I'm now 64 and it still gets me.
Same age, same effect

Why can I only give this song one thumbs up??? It deserves 1000 from me alone.

Indeed - but doubt it could have been improved. It was one of those pre-eighties creations that had not been over-worked or over- produced.
@@karmicselling4252 Why ironic?
I think they could have easily slipped another verse into it. After all Graeham Goble is a musical genius.
Haunting and spine tingling….. I love it!
I've requested this to be played at my farewell, I love it so much. So peaceful, so simple, so beautiful. Graeham Goble, what a wonderful all-time talent you are for Australian music.
Well, this is about the most humbling honour there is... and a testament to the power of music in people's lives. Thank you
@@GraehamGoble Hi Graeham, this truely is one of your greatest masterpieces. I can't get enough of it. It saddens me that radio stations don't play it.
Got a play yesterday on ABC Canberra.. which led to a discussion in their studio. And me to search for it again!
Same. Iv asked it to be played.
I was only 9 years old, but so grateful it is part of my musical history. I think I was truly born into the time of greatest music.

Same introduction here. It really is exceptional.
I used to have that album and thought Mississippi was an American band.

Never realised that Graeham Goble was such a good singer.
I was 11 when this song came out.Still love it as much.

They are LRB

You can certainly hear traces of the later LRB sound here.
Lot of truth ,actual playing now .all around the world .
Tops matey. From the old Aussie.
I was only 10 when this came out
Oh to be 16 again and what a world we had but didn't realise it.
Legend song
I remember first hearing this on the second series of Underbelly back in 2009. I was captivated immediately.
To my ear Graeham's vocals have abit of a John Lennon vibe on this track.
I can definitely hear abit of John Lennon's vocal tone in his voice.
The kings are here
This clip doesn’t show the drummer, Derek Pellici, one of the great talents in Australian music.
Hi Nev, Derek didn't play on 'Kings Of The World'. This clip is from 1972 before Beeb & Derek joined Mississippi. The 1972 recording had Barry Sullivan on Bass and Geoff Cox on Drums.
I remember this song, but I thought it was an American band.
but I like to believe we are all old fashioned teddy bears

Message The Awakening
Graham Goble should have used his brilliant voice more often- great song writer but humble to a fault
Hey everybody yeah, don't you feel that there's something?
Вылетая ,, Америка,,!! Приятный акустик рок!!
Mississippi became LRB
Did members of Mississippi mix with members of the Twilights to form LRB?
Better than anything by LRB.
Make time.
Just as relevant today given the Ukraine fiasco.
It's funny how everyone back then looked like Jesus.
No-one knows what Christ really looked like but great to see you make a comment regarding Him :)
@robusc4940 It's rhe image I grew up with. I realised later was not correct.
Take care.
this song is about murder
Great song.
Great song.
