These two were in a class of their own for the episode 14 and 15. The acting was amongst the best I have seen. Up there with the best actors. Truly an art.
Linus is fantastic playing Ecbert. He's charming, cruel, manipulative, seductive, cynical and extremely smart, such a rich charachter, I love it!! Plus, it has Lagertha, the most badass female in TV right now.
the conversation between Ragnar and Ecbert in Episode 14 of the 4th season, when Ecbert frees Ragnar from the cage, is some of the best acting i have ever seen....some of the most beautiful moments in the entire show
Idk, i love Travis, and the way he played Ragnar, ITS HIS NOW, but how much humility is there in saying something so undeniably true. I mean acting ISNT that hard, especially if ur a lead, bekuz anything done while acting, that would be called "hard" by the average person, they get EXCEPTIONALLY well compensated, monetarily. Like there's folk who do similar physical things for work everyday and they hav NO personal trailer, full of craft services OR giant paycheck. Js, stating a fact takes little to no humility, not say he isn't humble, just disagreeing with ur opinion of y he is.
Linus Roache played Ecbert like no one else and his performance, especially with Ragnar, will go down as among the best scenes in history of cinematic arts.
This show really got caught in GOT's shadow which is a shame because I dig this show more, there is something a bit corny about GOT as well as the fact that they've over done it with the sadistic/negative emotional roller coaster. Vikings has that primal element that while things are brutal they don't do it out of evil but for purely human reasons such as family, culture and religion. I really dig the shamanic undertones of Vikings and they do a fair job of mixing up personal plotting not on GOT's level but adequately. Vikings also has the edge in that it's somewhat based on reality.
It's more than "somewhat" based on reality; check out the History channel series "The Real Vikings". Sure, the show takes some liberties with the timeline (Ragnar and Rollo were not contemporaries; the raid on Paris in the show was based on one that occurred about fifty years later; Rollo became Duke of Normandy about 70 years later than in the show), but it's largely historically correct. Even the trick Ragnar pulled to get into Paris was based on a real occurrence, but it was actually Bjorn that did it (elsewhere and later).
Sigma I haven't watched any television series since 'Six Feet Under' and a few episodes of 'Dexter'... have watched and enjoyed every episode of this series, and it has impacted me just as you describe. The lushness of the production, plus the casting of such intricate and complex characters with compelling storylines has actually left me in awe. To realise Travis is from SE country Victoria is the icing on the cake... Traaaaaaavvv, maaaaaate 😂
The scenes between Linus & Travis in S4 Ep14 are just awesome, beautifully acted & very moving. I can't remember ever being so transfixed by the TV! They should both be really proud of the work they've done on this show. Will follow both their careers with interest....
Excellent interview. Interviewer allowed them to speak and had interesting questions with a flow. First interview where Travis seems comfortable. I don't blame him. All interviewers get so worked up looking at him they make him squirm. This interviewer kept his cool even if he wanted to drop trou for Travis. Who wouldn't?... long live Vikings!
The final conversation between Ragnar and Ecbert is probably my favourite scenes in the whole series. I love all of their interactions. Brilliant actors❤
Yea most interviews I see him in the interviewer always interrupts them or tries to keep themselves inthe spotlight but this one did a very good job of keeping the focus on the two being interviewed with interesting and original questions.
This week's episode - the scenes between Fimmel and Roache were so good. I was absolutely transfixed to the screen, amazed at how they brought out the depth of that material, what binds them, and what the future holds. Award worthy!!!
One of the best interviews I've ever seen. No stupid tabloid questions. The interviewer actually listened. Questions were perfect! Travis seemed so at ease and he is normally so awkward but this time I feel like he actually answered a lot of the questions.
These two actors are great ... but I'd like to give props to the interviewer. He's very perceptive and obviously knows what he is talking about. He's not just a muppet reading questions off a teleprompter.
The second half to the season has started very strongly, long may it continue. Travis is a very rare non-bullshitter as well, so if he says they're some of the best episodes yet I believe him.
This is a great interview with them, probably one of the best I've seen this interviewer is excellent, oh and of course the show is phenomenal with astounding actors!
Linus Roache, the son of actor Bill Roache (Ken Barlow in Coronation Street for UK viewers!) is INCREDIBLE in Vikings-he is an amazing actor. After seeing him in Vikings,I realised that he was in The Chronicles of Riddick-as a Necromonger, one of the main characters.Totally blown away by Vikings ,and the actors, finished watching all seasons now watching again, and desperate to see season 5.
Daryl, I'd agree if they were still going off of Martin's writing with deviations here and there like they were doing. While the script was fine in the last season, you could tell they were making things up outside of major plot points and it just fell off. Knowing or not, I'd prefer Vikings considering how well done they are doing it.
Great interview, great actors. Couldn't have done the scenes any better. Great play off each other, very natural. Nice work! Thanks for the entertainment! Interviewer did nice job too,
RGInquisitor correct and if you had previous knowledge of Ragnar Lodbrok Viking Saga in real history you'd have a pretty good idea on those intentions! 👌🏻
Agree, good interview. Some of the videos of interviews with Travis are just awful. Had to stop watching one as it was so embarrassingly bad and he looked so uncomfortable. He always seems to look absolutely exhausted and uncomfortable in most of his interviews. He obviously feels more comfortable with Linus there.
gabifromhell LOL You don't know that! :) I really don't think it's that at all. I just think he is very shy and that shows in how he expresses himself.
The fact that these two characters/actors (SPOILERS) are no longer a part of the show has really impacted my own personal enjoyment of it, because both of them were by far the best actors on the show and the most interesting characters to watch as well. Floki and Lagertha are the next two best characters/actors, but their own personal stories are just not as compelling, or at least, they haven't been made compelling enough in S5 so far despite the potential being there. As for the sons of Ragnar, none of them has as much depth and complexity as Ragnar did, even from just Season 1, and that's a bit of a problem frankly. Ivar could be more interesting than he is if he wasn't so single-minded all the time and Bjorn likewise. I guess there is just no replacing Travis Fimmel or Linus Roache.
I've just watched this particular episode a couple of days ago, where Ragnar and the king meet. Brilliant episode, writing and acting. Probably my favourite episode in the whole series.
Aaron Sandhu He's not coming back mate. This is how Ragnar actually died. Maybe for a flashback or something like that but that's it. Gonna be interesting to see how things develop next, I'll definitely keep an eye on Ivar, he's probably going to be the most important character from now on...
alexandra bento Yes, he really died. I have no idea what Travis is talking about here. If they decide to somehow bring him back, I'm going to be extremely disappointed with the show. I don't think that's going to happen though. He might just be there for some flashbacks or something.
I bet Ragnar is in flash backs, maybe we will even see Valhalla or memories of others with Ragnar that we hadn't seen before than will tie into the story line. Either way I think the new season second half is beautiful and poetic and amazing!
Just discovered The Vikings on Amazon. Great show. Love Ragnar and Lagertha, was disappointed when they broke up. She is one heck of a woman and totally different from all the other women on the show. Never seen Travis in any other show but he is a tremendous actor who can say so much in just a flick of his blue eyes!!
I didn't realize until recently that Travis played the sidekick of Patrick Swayze in his last acting gig before he passed away. It was a cop TV series called The Beast. Just one season and Swayze was having chemo treatments and was very skinny. After Swayze passed the network cancelled the 2nd season. I recall seeing some of the episodes and it was an interesting series. I have ordered the 3 disk complete 1st season from Amazon. Looking forward to watching it.
Now ,they are both goners, one, dead to a pit of vipers the other.. to a pit of blood and suicide..Great job wiping out the best characters in the series.
Travis is actually aging noticeably. I was wondering how good makeup was but in part he is looking older himself. Funny how they are both dressed in a modern way that reflects their roles in the series. Travis is very workaday and Linus looks quite effete.
@@irreplacable1988 I was thinking the same thing. He reminds me a little of Mel Gibson. Mel was really good looking when he was young but it didn't last long and he aged really fast. The scenes between Ragnar and Egbert were some of the best scenes of the series.
Boom San Agustin I agree
Martín Konka I also like the scenes between Ragnar and Lagertha.
Boom San Agusti
yeah, they both have a powerful presence.
the best so far in the series...
There is nothing better than Ragnar's signature crazy eyes look.

Hi, you mean episodes 14 and 15 if which season? Thank u!!
@@martinag9323 You could answer that yourself pretty easy, since season 1-3 only have 10 episodes each. So it must be season 4 :-)
Linus is fantastic playing Ecbert. He's charming, cruel, manipulative, seductive, cynical and extremely smart, such a rich charachter, I love it!! Plus, it has Lagertha, the most badass female in TV right now.
He does do an amazing job.
When he is bullshiting everyone around him, it comes natural to him :)
Marizane Bogdan I definitely agree with you on Linus, Ecbert is my favorite character on Vikings..in every scene he is brilliant!
Marizane Bogdan it's sad we won't see anymore Ragnar and Ecbert scenes. Their scenes together are some of the best in the series.
Daryl Dixon how bad ass would it be if lagartha found her way on walking dead she can be michones side kick
Marizane Bogdan Aaand he's gone...
Travis does an excellent job, Ragnar Lothbrok is the greatest character of all time
Takes a Aussie to be a Viking king.
And now they've killed him off :(
indeed but he said "we shot season 5..." that gives me fuckin hope! I don't care if it will be unreal just come Harbard to resurrect him!
Valhalla is coming,a spinoff show about the dead in Valhalla
