Riders know- it's non-stop work. From keeping yourself awake, to keeping your horse awake! -it's difficult!!!! Always having to keep that perfect frame on a horse that doesn't speak your own language, let alone is 900x heavier than us!!! And so much more :) It makes my day to see all of you standing for OUR sport!!! :D
It's funny, how soccer players make a huge deal out of falling and the first thing you're told when you fall of your horse is to get back on again... (nothing against soccer players, it's just an example)
My 6th grade health teacher asked for activities that can really make your heart start beating fast and I said horseback riding. He said not really because you just sit there and the horse does all the work. Back then I was a shy child who didn't speak her mind very often, but if he had said the same thing to me now I would give him a piece of my mind because now I do speak my mind.
I hate when people says it is not a sport and I don't even ride horses and I would probably fall off the second I tried so congrats to everyone who rides a horse

I say that we horse people should band together and make a HUGE army whenever someone says that riding isn't a real sport and is just a hobby. TOTAL INTIMIDATION!!! BTW I am showing this to everyone at my horse camp this summer!
When people tell you that horse riding is either "just about sitting on a horse and letting it do all the work" or "it isn't a sport" I disagree. It's so much more than that. I've begun taking horse riding lessons, but I'm not that far up to canter yet, I'm still a long way away. But. Any horse you ride, it gives you power. It gives you elegance. It teaches you how to fly. It teaches you how to dance. And in that, we find trust. Pure beauty. It's a partnership like no other, you're a team. It's an unexplainable feelings. It's not something you can just talk about, because there are no words to fully explain exactly what it feels like to do all of the above with an unpredictable animal that has a mind of its own, and is not a machine that will always show obedience to your command. Now, I have nothing against sports like football at all, but I play sports all the time, but I never get that feeling. Of course, lots of people might do with games like football and rugby, but I'd rather horse ride and learn about these animals, and get a better relationship with such delicate beasts than kick a ball around into a net. ^-^
To all those who think equestrianism is not a sport: Why is it included in the olympics? why do we have championships? why do we SWEAT like hell and get OUT OF BREATH when we ride? why all our muscles hurt when we get back on the saddle after few months of not riding? why do we fall or not ride well when we have flew or when we are sick? you know what, just try it once, and when you will not be able to move one muscle in your body, then come and tell us if it is a sport or not, before starting to ride I thought riding was easy, after few falls and almost broken bones and hurting muscles, I got it lol

i went horse riding once and i kept bugging my dad that i wanted to go so i did ...when i got my horse i took a second to look at my horse ...the instructor immediatly said u must a great animal lover , have a great bond with horses.....and i do .....people dont understand the inner beauty of these majestic animals .....we really do love them and we would risk our lifes for them

Oh my God! LET IT GO!!! These kind of videos are mostly made for equestrians anyways because sometimes it's just nice to know that there are other equestrians who ride just like you do. We're not complaining in any way, we're demonstrating just a few of the things we do. Just because you've ridden before doesn't mean you understand us. First you need to create the bond (which usually takes around 6 months), then start these things. I highly doubt you've done all this as you're STILL dissing us.
This is inspiring to us horse riders because you don't get it until you really do it. There's a delicate bond between a friendship and we all know that we all fall down sometimes. #horsebackridingforever

this is such a powerful video, it kind of speaks to me.. It makes me feel proud and strong for my "hobby", like I am somewhat different... but this video is all true, we do those things.. we do stuff that puts our own health on the line. we have a team, a special strong bond with an animal that could kill you in a matter of seconds... we love, trust, hate and scare this, all in one moment, but no matter what, it's a part of my life i cant get rid of, it's now a part of my heart, a part of me..

I've been an equestrian for seven years, and everyone has been making fun of me for those seven years. They kept on telling me that I was waisting my time, because horseback riding isn't a sport. I didn't listen to them, and continued to do what I loved most. When I saw this video, I immediately smiled, and burst into tears. I thank you, and every other equestrian out there. We all sacrafice our lives to do what we love most, and that's riding. Ride on!
That's exactly what has happened in the 4yrs I've been riding!! It gets annoying after a while. People say I'm the one girl in the grade that loves horses, and it kind of hurts to be known as that.

Love this video. I love horses and I can't stand when people say 'riding isn't any work'. Well, horses are unpredictable. And it's wrong to change their instincts. So when they spook at something or run away from something, you just got to deal with it and get back in the saddle. Horseback riding is everything to me.

24x7, no holiday, no Sunday whatsoever, 40 pounds droppings to collect every day, both in the stall box and outside under the heavy storm, 40 liters or more pee making precious straw to get wet and of course human carryies tens of kg of straws outside the barn to dry under the sun. I am not an equestrian, "sometime rider" but full time stall-maid employed by ex-race horse. I am happy. So what? (^-^)? Nothing is easy, but.... I just cant stop loving them! Nobody can stop me loving horses! Yahoooooo!
Some people have told me a few years ago that riding is easy, but that was when I was shy and scared to say anything, but now, I'd ask them all the questions in this video, I bet they would answer them all no. We have pure courage and skill and put our faith and our lives into an 1000-1500 pound animal that's very unpredictable and has a mind of its own and can kill you at any second. We risk our lives just for a sport. So anybody who dare say it's easy, try it out for yourself.

Flexibility, because you have to go with the horse and lean forward a lot when jumping (ok, so maybe less of this one ) Agility, because of having to make quick decisions and act on it. Endurance. Rising trot can be exhausting, and trotting without stirrups is just PAINFUL! Balance, If you think about it there is nothing to stop you falling off except a pair of stirrups, and you don't even use those sometimes. :)
I told a girl at my school that, almost these exact words in this video. It's not easy to get thrown and tumble to the ground just to get back on knowing you could get thrown again! This is coming from the mouth of a girl who has been riding her whole life! I've been thrown god knows how many times and I'm only 13, but it's the passion that runs through our veins which drives us to get back on. Loved this video. I have an athletic scholarship for equestrian ridi ng and that proves kiddos, it is a sport. And it isnt easy. You gotta add in thw eight hours of barn work some people put in along with the ride time. Needless to say , I , an equesyrian, have no social life but I qould have it no other way.

You're right, some people DO exaggerate. But that isn't our goal. It certainly isn't MY goal. But this sport is hard. You need to have ridden for a while to appreciate this. I've ridden for 5+ years and just recently I've realized how hard we work. AGAIN, I don't wish for this to become a fight, but we make videos like this to open people's eyes. We just want them to realize we do a SPORT, not a just hobby. But everyone has their own opinions, even if they are wrong. I respect that.

Non riders won't understand
Oh my God! LET IT GO!!! These kind of videos are mostly made for equestrians anyways because sometimes it's just nice to know that there are other equestrians who ride just like you do. We're not complaining in any way, we're demonstrating just a few of the things we do. Just because you've ridden before doesn't mean you understand us. First you need to create the bond (which usually takes around 6 months), then start these things. I highly doubt you've done all this as you're STILL dissing us.

this is such a powerful video, it kind of speaks to me.. It makes me feel proud and strong for my "hobby", like I am somewhat different... but this video is all true, we do those things.. we do stuff that puts our own health on the line. we have a team, a special strong bond with an animal that could kill you in a matter of seconds... we love, trust, hate and scare this, all in one moment, but no matter what, it's a part of my life i cant get rid of, it's now a part of my heart, a part of me..
I love this. I'm going to tell this to all those who cut down riders and tell them riding is stupid, worthless, a hobby... Nothing. This was very inspirational and gave me goosebumps.

I've been an equestrian for seven years, and everyone has been making fun of me for those seven years. They kept on telling me that I was waisting my time, because horseback riding isn't a sport. I didn't listen to them, and continued to do what I loved most. When I saw this video, I immediately smiled, and burst into tears. I thank you, and every other equestrian out there. We all sacrafice our lives to do what we love most, and that's riding. Ride on!
That's exactly what has happened in the 4yrs I've been riding!! It gets annoying after a while. People say I'm the one girl in the grade that loves horses, and it kind of hurts to be known as that.
I know how you feel. But I find it so funny because when I first started out no one would talk to me and said I was waisting my time. The n once I get a champion ribbon and a trophey, those same people all want to talk to me. I will never understand the true nature of humans Emma Yost

Love this video. I love horses and I can't stand when people say 'riding isn't any work'. Well, horses are unpredictable. And it's wrong to change their instincts. So when they spook at something or run away from something, you just got to deal with it and get back in the saddle. Horseback riding is everything to me.

24x7, no holiday, no Sunday whatsoever, 40 pounds droppings to collect every day, both in the stall box and outside under the heavy storm, 40 liters or more pee making precious straw to get wet and of course human carryies tens of kg of straws outside the barn to dry under the sun.
I am not an equestrian, "sometime rider" but full time stall-maid employed by ex-race horse. I am happy. So what? (^-^)?

Some people have told me a few years ago that riding is easy, but that was when I was shy and scared to say anything, but now, I'd ask them all the questions in this video, I bet they would answer them all no. We have pure courage and skill and put our faith and our lives into an 1000-1500 pound animal that's very unpredictable and has a mind of its own and can kill you at any second. We risk our lives just for a sport. So anybody who dare say it's easy, try it out for yourself.

This video is awesome! So true. My brother said it's easy so i brought him to my lesson and afterwards he didn't want to ride anymore. He thought it was too dangerous. But I'm an Equestrian i could never give up this amazing sport. :)

Flexibility, because you have to go with the horse and lean forward a lot when jumping (ok, so maybe less of this one ) Agility, because of having to make quick decisions and act on it. Endurance. Rising trot can be exhausting, and trotting without stirrups is just PAINFUL! Balance, If you think about it there is nothing to stop you falling off except a pair of stirrups, and you don't even use those sometimes. :)

I told a girl at my school that, almost these exact words in this video. It's not easy to get thrown and tumble to the ground just to get back on knowing you could get thrown again! This is coming from the mouth of a girl who has been riding her whole life! I've been thrown god knows how many times and I'm only 13, but it's the passion that runs through our veins which drives us to get back on. So no, it's not an easy sport, but we do because it is the one thing we love! Horse back riding foreve

Loved this video. I have an athletic scholarship for equestrian ridi ng and that proves kiddos, it is a sport. And it isnt easy. You gotta add in thw eight hours of barn work some people put in along with the ride time. Needless to say , I , an equesyrian, have no social life but I qould have it no other way.

You're right, some people DO exaggerate. But that isn't our goal. It certainly isn't MY goal. But this sport is hard. You need to have ridden for a while to appreciate this. I've ridden for 5+ years and just recently I've realized how hard we work. AGAIN, I don't wish for this to become a fight, but we make videos like this to open people's eyes. We just want them to realize we do a SPORT, not a just hobby. But everyone has their own opinions, even if they are wrong. I respect that.
