    I wish I could show you the picture I took of 2...yes 2 swarms that arrived at my apiary at the exact same time! Each colony swarm went to its own chosen hive! Both were large swarms & the air way filled with the buzzing of bees!

    Always enjoy your monthly videos!! A question....you said to place an empty box at the bottom of the hive to reduce the swarming urge....which is exactly why folks rotate boxes to get the empty box off the bottom and place it higher. A BIT confusing. ?????

      Yes, good point. That is confusing.:) Placing that empty box on the bottom would be a 3rd box and is usually a medium or shallow box. This would also only be on a hive that has both current brood boxes almost completely full of bees and is still a few weeks or more from being able to split. Once a split is made or honey supers are added, that 3rd bottom box can be removed. Rotating boxes in the late winter is more for a hive that is 2 brood boxes and the bottom one is empty, yet the top one is full. That hive wouldn't be at risk of swarming anytime soon.

    I need comb to put in my hive

      Hi! You don't have to start with drawn comb. But if you want drawn comb, you can buy a complete hive with bees or a nuc. Both will come with drawn comb.

    What do you do with the honey from the almond orchards?

    • @thebeesupply
      @thebeesupply  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The bees don't actually produce enough of it to harvest- just enough for them to store for their own growth. So, all the almond honey stays with the bees to eat.:)
