OMGosh. Two things. 1. Randy. speaks of little ads on his website and I get 10 watching this short video. How ironic. Like varroa.. The damned things just keep on Popping up. 😢 2. The best interviewers let the interviewee speak. All your interuptions and pretty much irrelavent anectodal stories pretty much heavily diminished this interview. Known Randy 40 + years. Hes way better that. you boxed him into. Id say that at least 30% of the time was underutilized if the goal was to provide useful anf relavent info to the general beeping public. Probably won't tune into any more if the next one is equivalently poorly done.
Appreciate you watching. While I could have gone the typical route and asked about his research, I felt there are plenty of videos on that, plenty of podcasts. I like to mix it up and toss curveball questions. Randy saying two times, nobody has ever asked that was rewarding for me. I do very few of these and will admit I'm no professional.
@@CastleHives As Randy mentioned. None of us are. Especially bees. It's why I don't do TH-cam. Hard enough to find time to master bees minimally. . Surprised you snagged him.
*Watching this felt like a personal interview about bees. Best interview I've ever seen. Randy truly loves bees and nature. Atvabout the 35 minute mark talking about wax moth preference to destroy comb with brood/protein... my experience was that wax moth still destroyed my honey supers that had no brood or pollen storage... hm.
Randy asked about the printers, and I went over the QRD. It was great having him join. Appreciate you watching Jason. We're going to try and line up schedules for a live.
@@CastleHives yes but what do you call winter I my winters are -25 to - 35 for long periods of time and my bees are all locked down for 5 months of the year it’s all on what time of winter you have most people in my area want to winter there bees inside that way they can have less loses
Our winters, on average last 4 or so months. The last 2 have been mild, but on average, where I'm located, we'll get snow in December and our last snow is in late March/April. They generally stay locked up that entire time.
Love Randy’s simple honesty and his research. Really squashes the junk science out there because of his love for the bees. Thanks Brian for sharing the interview.
Wow Brian what an interview! You are excellent at interviews , probably 1 of the best I have ever heard no joke! You had him speech less, he had never had that question. Perfect my friend!
Paul, thank you for the kind words. Randy made the interview, he is a seasoned vet at them. My goal was not to dig into the science, but to find out a little bit about him. Hope to have him on a Live in the future, we'll have to see how schedules line up. Appreciate you wacthing.
Thank you very much for this you two, Great interview Brian. Thank you so much for your studies in non-synthetic treatments and sharing your time with us Randy. Blessed Days...
Wow Brian that was an outstanding interview! I heard a small side of Randy that I have not heard before because of your intuitive questions! Great Job!! 👍👍

I had several questions that I wanted to ask, but made sure i remained cognizant of his time. I'm going to work on trying to line up a live stream in the future. Appreciate you watching.
@@CastleHivesthe slope of enlightenment is a concoction based on media distortion of the study's actual results and findings....that chart, is not from the paper itself but instead is more a meme of someone's distorted interpretation of the cognitive bias being discussed in the paper. Ultimately Dr. Dunning says the study was more about being misinformed than actually being uninformed. Ultimately the DK effect is highly criticized, but people like Randy Oliver and Rusty Burlew have popularized using the graph the media has made up to stratify beekeepers into classes of skill and disenfranchise those who have knowledge but less experience. It's a catch 22. I'm not a betting man, but I'd put money on the fact that most who use the Dk effect to malign knowledge or applaud it ...have not read the study or its criticisms. Brian, I always enjoy listening to Randy. He is an audio book himself, full of knowledge! How in the world did you hook him for 50 minutes? Great interview.
This is the best interview I have heard Randy give. He is brilliant and instead of a lot of overload he explains what’s important. Loved it
Couldn't agree more. Appreciate you watching.
You should have asked him about his new research. It’s about thymol. Since he published that article that’s all the talk.
I had so many question in mind, but kept it limited due to time. Maybe an upcoming live though. . We have to check schedules.
We’re picking Randy up at the airport for Colorado’s fall meeting today. Great interview, Brian!
@@flowerstreetfarmbees Oh, that is awesome. Enjoy.
Well done sir! First interview of Randy Oliver, where I got to see more of the beekeeper as well as the researcher.

I appreciate you watching.
What a great interview. Well done.
Thank you.
Randy is the best :)
110% agree
Had to order a package with one of Randy's queens , not a full blood. OHB is making them
Oh, that is awesome Dan. You'll have to report how that works out for you.
@@CastleHives I see later in the interview they are in a isolated mating yard I guess i'll be making more queens off of them than I thought

So many commercials.
Apologies. TH-cam places those.

While I agree somewhat, I've had some years with a very high percentage that successfully overwintered.
