    The only reason a turbine makes sense if you fly high and fast. However the RV10 top cruising speed is not fast enough for the fuel burn.

      Don’t tell that to an Airtractor 801...
      They spend all day going slow and low as a crop duster

    I wouldn’t think the Vne on the RV10 would warrant a turboprop?

      its more for over seas 100LL is getting scarce JP1 is everywhere the engine makers are using the RV to get the engine certified then its drop in replacement for any OI-540 powered aircraft

    What's the fuel consumption like? how much weight did this shave off? Improved range? improved carrying capacity?

    • @codmott286
      @codmott286 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      there's no way a turbine will improve range, they are terribly fuel inefficient. Probably improves useful load by being lighter and more powerful though. I'd guess a mini turbine like this probably uses 20-30 gallons per hour.

      actually the average consumption is 14.5 GPH

      There's absolutely no way a 300hp turbine consumes less fuel than a 300 hp engine

      I'm very late to the game but according to this video: th-cam.com/video/NKVG1-mFlOI/w-d-xo.html
      The fuel consumption is (1:50 into the video): At Cruise burning 18 GPH and 32-34 GPH at max power at sea level.

      @@moparmadness74dodge that sounds more realistic, but still, awesome for the power level!!!!

    A MT 5 blade prop and a better looking exhaust will finish id perfect

    • @MartianLivesMatter
      @MartianLivesMatter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      no point in a 5 blade prop on a PBS turbine. Theyre tiny compared to a PT6. It'd be like adding a monster truck tire on a 4cyl car. Only way for it to work would be with constant speed and/or baby props. So in the end pointless as it would add drag too.
