It’s an experimental acft, use what you want. Vans builds the kits for Lycoming but there are PLENTY of examples of people using other engines....but if you were a fan of Vans, you would have know that; the RV12 does use a Rotax. The RV series are incredibly light on the controls. Very big control services. The majority of them are also aerobatic. This is coming from my time in a 6 and a 10.

What was the reason the plane was 'heavy on controls'? Is it by design or some other issue?

An RV-10 would be the perfect kit plane if they started using the Rotax engines...

You can tell these are plane people, they all look to be over 60 years old.
