My son is gifted so I thought he had to graduate early. I decided this year to allow him to take his time and just take one dual enrollment course a semester. I feel so much less stressed and he does as well.

Totally agree with your soapbox regarding kids not being exposed to entire novels. It truly irks me, for some reason, to see so many curriculum publishers using excerpts. It's like, "Hello! Children are actually capable of reading entire books!"

Right?? Thank you!!! My second oldest just finished a whole entire year of public charter online high school and she didn’t read a single book!!!! This is the kid who read The Grapes of Wrath in less than 24 hours just for fun. It’s an absolute travesty! 😂

The Oak Meadow Facebook group was so toxic. I was part of it last year and noticed as soon as I signed up that the moderator would quickly respond and close comments to on topic questions before anyone had a chance to offer differing opinions. There was very little discussion allowed.
Last summer I had a question anyway about using kindergarten or preschool for my 4 nearly 5 year old.
    I also had a 2 year old.
Someone commented that I could do kinder with my older while they were 5 and 2, and go back and do the preschool when they are 3-6 (the range for it is 3-6).
I thought this was a good idea. I didn’t mention it, but I consider oak meadow as purely enrichment at these levels, I use different things for skills.
Well the moderator commented that Oak Meadow was originally designed so Kinder would start with an older 6 year old, nearly 7 so I should wait a year to start preschool with him and just play.
I commented thanks for both opinions, I really like the idea from the first commenter and that I think that might fit my family best.
Then they closed comments, which I had anticipated… but a few hours later…THEY KICKED ME OUT OF THE GROUP!! LOL.
No slightly differing opinions allowed I guess. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Oh my gosh!! I’m so sorry that happened to you! That reminds me of a different secular group where nothing is secular unless they say it’s secular. Facebook is so weird! It was a very peaceful few years when I had my account de-activated 😂

I once got a warning from a Charlotte Mason group for suggesting a different strategy for reading for a child that was struggling. Never mind that I am a former Sped teacher and had actually had success with those issues. I can't get on board with people making educational philosophy a religion.

Thanks for this! Do you have a list of great books to read like you stated in your video? I know Memoria Press has a great literature, I did not see this books you have so I assume they are from Oak Meadow only?
