Long story short. I'm the HR/payoll/accting partner to my now ex's self-emp business. He switched us to Consumer Cellular for an amazing price saving and better usage plan in 2016. I bought a Moto G4 from their site and now told the SIM will no longer be supported after 12/23. The Customer Service rep was floored that I was still using this phone but it's been perfect for my needs. Running on Android 7 and last updates ended in 2018, lol! Small number of phone options given on the CC website for upgrade, but do have equal or lower prices than Amazon or Walmart offers. The SIM card and activation are included, also. Thank You for helping me make a decision! I'm now 71 and gave up my trusty backup landline last year. This Galaxy model seems to have flaws for moderate to heavy users, but I'm not surely not one and it seems to be perfect for me. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the review! I believe the reason they it outsells other Samsung phones is that they sell it to Tracfone. It's basically free and comes preloaded with minutes, texts and data for $100. Based on your I'm going to upgrade my current Samsung to this one.
No it doesnt lag, ive had it for a year now. What i have notice is its laggy when coming out of apps or swiping etc sometimes, phone heats up a lot... and it takes ages too charge, sometimes when i call people it hangs up and i have to restart my phone.. im considering getting an iphone now@aquila813apologetics3
Why do people whine about plastic phones? Reviewers always whine about this. Its ridiculous. 99.99% of users are gonna put a TPU or silicone case on the phone anyway. Making this point completely moot.
This phone rocks!! Had a 22+, had to switch carriers for verizon service at work and 22+ would not get internet. $12-$30 you get 512G for all the storage you need. Speed of apps might be slower, but good for me. Never buying a $1500 phone again!!
this Dimensity 700 cpu is no joke and flies in normal usage especially with the animation speeds and stuff set to 0.5x speed in the android developer options. I read it's about on par with the older flagship S9 power wise. Plus they've stepped their game up and are supporting pretty much all these newer budget phones with several OS upgrades and years of security updates. Very close to pulling the trigger on an A14 5G myself. Serves my needs very fine
That Dimensity 700 processor is one of the main reasons I bought one of these phones. I had the same processor on a different low end phone (Moto G 5G 2022) and it never lagged or stuttered or had any issues with basic tasks like answering phone calls, etc. And once again, this new phone is working great for me. I take it places where I would not want to have a very expensive phone in my pocket.

Had one for six months and it's good value for money. Only thing I don't like is the way you have to use the volume down button and home button together to take a screen shot, especially with a cover on the phone. I've had other phones where the home button could be configured to take a screenshot by giving it two quick presses. Hope this phone gets that in an update.

I just purchased one of these phones, after being without a cell phone for over 3 years. So far, I wish there was an option to increase the active screen beyond 10 minutes before it goes to sleep. Having a 30 minute option would be great. Only planning to use it for emergency calls, texting, facebook and wifi control of my pro sound system.
You can extend the screen on time to Infinity. It's hidden though. You have to unlock developer options... Go into settings - about phone - software information. And there you'll see "build number". Tap on that, I think seven times in a row quickly, or just keep tapping it and eventually at the bottom it will say developer options unlocked or something like that. Then go back to the main settings menu, at the very bottom there should now be developer options. Go into there and there's an option near the top called stay awake. Your phone will stay awake until you hit the power button to lock the screen. It's not exactly what you're asking for, but it's good if you need the phone to stay awake for extended periods. They hide the developer options for a reason, you can miss some settings up on your phone if you just fool around with them all willy-nilly, but there's some other useful things in there as well you might find. This is how to do it on the current Android version, it might very slightly an older versions are on this phone I'm not sure. But you can always Google how to unlock developer options for the a14.
I've always had motorolla smartphones because I want t headphone jack, microSD slot and to not pay a ton of money; unfortunately the Moto G lineup to me seems that it has been stagnating over time. My moto G power 2020 has 4k 30 and 1080p 60 video camera, the 2023 models all only do 1080p 30. I had to recently replace my charging port and in the process I managed to break my fingerprint reader and I only have service sometimes(my fault, should have been more careful and followed a good guide). I think I would go for the A54 if they had a headphone jack. The Zenfone 10 is what I would get if cost weren't a consideration. Oh well, have wasted far too much of my day already looking into a phone to buy(mostly between moto g 5g 2023 and A14 or A23).
I went form an LG Velvet to this phone. It took me a while to get used to using a Samsung again. I love all the features this phone has. It can be at slow times and the camera isn't as nearly as good as my LG Velvet. However, all the features that this phone has to offer I do love it and couldn't be happier. It is nice knowing that I can hold out till 2027 to upgrade my phone next. Thank you for that info and this review.

I have an A23 5G and I have not enjoyed using it. #1-I did not know Samsung had removed the features I really appreciated in my first Galaxy and put in crap I don't have a use for. #2-The setup caused me to become frustrated with it one night and the phone took flight into the desk and I had to get the screen replaced. #3-In April it received an update. After installing the update and then talking to my stepsister the thing died while being recharged.🤦🏽♂️ It was about an hour before it came back on and the battery percentage was 26% whereas it was 72%when it died. #4-The phone started getting very hot while charging. I'm talking temperatures 118-130°F. Now it won't even charge. Plug in the charger and the indicator shows for a minute and then disappears. I wouldn't be surprised if it now needs a new battery. #5-I'll just keep using my Motorola and not buy another Samsung. I read there's a class action lawsuit against them about their refrigerators that won't stay cold and people have complained but Samsung isn't doing anything to help.
@@drowsiigg, I've used two different chargers with the same results and now it won't charge. My Motorola has been so good to me. My Redmi Note 12 recently got updated to Android 14 and Hyper OS 1.

ONLY 64 GIGS OF SPACE???? My guy, I've never had a phone with more than 20 gigs, -15 for OS, i had 5 gigs for games, and 2 of those gigs were filled with music. so only 3. 64 should be MORE than enough for me LOL
On mine which I just purchased 1 month ago. When replying to someone from the notification panel, and phone will say "reply sent" at the bottom of screen those words will not go off the screen for approximately 60 sec. Or longer with some actions the phone is doing or has done, the words it puts on screen won't go away for some time can't see what's under those words. 😢

I have the Samsung galaxy A54 5G and it is ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE. The reasons are you cannot zoom in/out when you are in ultra-wide camera, you cannot tap to focus on ultra-wide, does not have DeX mode, does not have wireless charging, a more budget processor, and much more.
what is the battery life like on the A14 phone? I'm having to return a Galaxy A54 due to short battery life (I'll charge overnight, start normal use at 9 am, is down to 30-40% by 2 pm, not constant use), also has a glitchy screen that goes black randomly while I'm typing or scrolling. Comes back when I press the side button, but still it's a pain. Gets hot sometimes. I think this phone is faulty, but I don't love it anyway. My old phone is a Motorola G7, lasts 2 days. Only replacing because Android has stopped updating the OS.

Yeah, for that price it's not bad. As for bezels, that's so dang overrated. If you have a tiny bezeled phone and haven't had dozens of false touches, you have fingers that are pencils and chicken foot hands. I have a Pixel 3 XL and a case on it. And still getting several false touches when typing. And its not a thin bezeled phone. I'm sure you can buy a comparable phone for that price, but doubtful with better features. 200 bucks now days for brand new. 🤔 Par, for reasonable quality. Just my opinion
Did you try recording video and playing them back? I have this phone and the audio sounds terrible. Took it to a gig and the songs recorded are unlistenable. Tinny and swimmy on playback. Could there be a fault with my phone . I did expect better from Samsung. I may have to return it.

This phone interferes with my televisions reception in my home. I am not sure if it is TMobile's fault or the phone. I am not happy because it knocks the TV's signals out with total loss of stations as I use the phone to make calls, play games, watch movies or even to search the internet. My TV is going crazy as I am typing this. LG products were the absolute best! I hate they are out of business.

Free phones usually have the bare minimum. Honestly if you can, just spend some money on a cheap but decent phone. The $230 I spent on the A14 was worth it. I love the camera. It takes very vibrant colorful photos.

I paid $231 for it at Metro
The phone has 2 options of storage: 64 and 128gb
Plus that you can get it cheaper if you take the 4G but that can make it be slower on mobile data
It looks like to got an update to ACTUAL one Ui 5.1 instead of CORE 5...
and it will get the 14/ui 6 update as well.

samsung is picky with chargers, choose high quality ones because if the charger frys the battery will get messed up and won't charge

Plus they close up covering the screen.

My guy, I've never had a phone with more than 20 gigs, -15 for OS, i had 5 gigs for games, and 2 of those gigs were filled with music. so only 3. 64 should be MORE than enough for me LOL

On mine which I just purchased 1 month ago. When replying to someone from the notification panel, and phone will say "reply sent" at the bottom of screen those words will not go off the screen for approximately 60 sec. Or longer with some actions the phone is doing or has done, the words it puts on screen won't go away for some time can't see what's under those words. 😢

4gb is fine, don't worry - I have 7-8 apps open at the same time and have experienced no issues on my a14 5g

I have the Samsung galaxy A54 5G and it is ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE. The reasons are you cannot zoom in/out when you are in ultra-wide camera, you cannot tap to focus on ultra-wide, does not have DeX mode, does not have wireless charging, a more budget processor, and much more.
This phone is huge but with that case that youre showing its like tablet
I actually have one and it's really good not to fancy just in the middle I feel like it hit the mark....

what is the battery life like on the A14 phone? I'm having to return a Galaxy A54 due to short battery life (I'll charge overnight, start normal use at 9 am, is down to 30-40% by 2 pm, not constant use), also has a glitchy screen that goes black randomly while I'm typing or scrolling. Comes back when I press the side button, but still it's a pain. Gets hot sometimes. I think this phone is faulty, but I don't love it anyway. My old phone is a Motorola G7, lasts 2 days. Only replacing because Android has stopped updating the OS.
Older iPhone like the 12 is getting that issue too

@edenmorningstar.7865 I'd say get a budget android by a brand like Samsung or Motorola if battery is the main concern but if hardware is of concern try a 2019-2021 flagship android really cheap used gives better value than iphones

Yeah, for that price it's not bad.
As for bezels, that's so dang overrated. If you have a tiny bezeled phone and haven't had dozens of false touches, you have fingers that are pencils and chicken foot hands. I have a Pixel 3 XL and a case on it. And still getting several false touches when typing. And its not a thin bezeled phone.
I'm sure you can buy a comparable phone for that price, but doubtful with better features. 200 bucks now days for brand new. 🤔 Par, for reasonable quality. Just my opinion

Did you try recording video and playing them back? I have this phone and the audio sounds terrible. Took it to a gig and the songs recorded are unlistenable. Tinny and swimmy on playback. Could there be a fault with my phone . I did expect better from Samsung. I may have to return it.
sadly, it does has a very poor microphone. I wish they would've cut costs on something else.
had the same trouble on my A14, sound quality while recording videos sounded like it was recorded under water, very bad microphone on this phone, the A52 is far better

This phone has process named Exynos made by Samsung which is not good as compared to mediatek and snapdragon I'm not getting 5g speed when I'm indoor i checked on other phone with mediatek processor it has good speed

This phone interferes with my televisions reception in my home. I am not sure if it is TMobile's fault or the phone. I am not happy because it knocks the TV's signals out with total loss of stations as I use the phone to make calls, play games, watch movies or even to search the internet. My TV is going crazy as I am typing this. LG products were the absolute best! I hate they are out of business.
I don't like mine is so slow graphics in game are bad really bad plus the bezels make it worst and also the design is really uncomfortable to hold

Free phones usually have the bare minimum. Honestly if you can, just spend some money on a cheap but decent phone. The $230 I spent on the A14 was worth it. I love the camera. It takes very vibrant colorful photos.
