If you are going to ride on the bed of your truck I would recommend getting synthetic winch line it will just instead of taking a body part off

@@kevinmcgee9209 that's a good point. I was thinking of putting a scale inline to see how much weight it was pulling. Even if it's less than 2,500 lbs of tension, it's a good idea to have safe practices, form good habits and set a good example 👍🏻

I just welded the winch mount plate to a 2” square hitch extender or 2”
    to 1 1/2” hitch reducer .
Then you can use your winch in any 2” receiver !
Mount one to the floor , in the bed of your truck or trailer too !

@@KJ7SIR that's actually genius. I might have to copy you.

Cool 😎👍 man you might want to put a rubber mat underneath that battery does concrete destroys batteries

@@FrankMillion-t6n great idea. I might build a small power unit box later. That's just a battery that been passed around since 2018.

@@BlackAndBlueGarage Don't get too worried about it, ground hasn't killed batteries in years since we figured out which end of the plastic the acid goes in (protip - it's the inside).
_Cold_ can be uncomfy for batteries, so throw it on a 2x4 or something. And a solar panel is cool, but any cheap old trickle charger should actually do the thing just fine, since you're not likely to be using the winch that often or that hard.

Concrete doesn't discharge battery it's a myth I did my winch with a mounting plate and about a foot of chain on each corner I use it for every thing trailer, shop, trees, anything else I can strap it to also pipe bending frame straighting,,,,,,,,

That looks super helpful! How are you gonna keep the battery charged?

@@TheBeardedJeeper I was thinking a small solar panel on the other side of the wall but someone suggested a trickle charger too. Wouldn't be a bad idea but I'd like to find out how to set it up to shit off once it's full charge. Haven't thought that far ahead yet. There's also 120v winches I could use but I couldn't find one with a remote, plus they're more expensive

@@TheBeardedJeeperThe "free energy" on my camper has cost me a fortune between solar panels, charge controllers, wiring, fuse holders, relays, batteries, etc. A trickle charger would save you a ton of cash and they basically shut off when the battery is topped off.

@twotwentyswift 😆 that's fair. Trickle charging is definitely the cheaper option. I need all the savings I can get.
