I really wish there was a video explaining all of the terms like hit cap and giving a better basis of what the actual purpose of the mechanics are would be really helpful for a new mmorpg player
Did I just get an ad for a private server lol hell yeah brings me back ,anyways love these vids bc even if the video is 4yrs old it’s wow classic ,shit is still relevant to this day
8.07, 8.16, 8.31, 8.37 - for your next video I'm going to take a shot each time you say "basically". If I'm not comatose by the end of it I'll give it a like.
One thing these kinds of guides are never clear on is how to balance stats with armour. I know that as a mage the general idea is to avoid being hit, but when it does happen you want to have some reasonable protection... so where does armour enter into the stat priority? Or is it an entirely separate consideration?
You basically do not care about armour because you already said it - you want to avoid being hit, which means you do not want to get aggro. If you get aggro from anything in a raid you're pretty much dead anyway and you do not want to sacrifice your damage just so the mob doesn't oneshot you for lets say 10k but for 8k, yknow?
I’m not sure if this is how ignite works. Maybe my memory is from a later version of the game but ignite ticks Roll over not Refresh. Yes the first mage who ignites gets their Ignite buff refreshed and every other ignite critical damage is counted as that one mage’s damage but it doesn’t refresh the damage.
What I dont understand is, how does it help you losing the ignite when you are not attacking, whenever the other firemages keep frefreshing your ignite anyways? Couldnt you just end up having it the whole fight anyways?
This is very helpful but I’m new to classic And I’m having a hard time finding out what ranks of my spells I should be using. I’m getting mixed answers like use rank 1 for this spell but rank 3 for this spell and honestly it’s all getting a bit confusing
So usually while at end game you use mostly top rank spells. The only exception that just makes complete sense is using rank 1 Frost nova. High ranked frost nova does little more damage than rank one, while the duration remains the same. It’s worth the mana saved. The only other time I use earlier ranks of other spells is when running low level dungeons to farm gold. That’s when you would want to use rank 1s just to pull aggro with out wasting much needed mana on big pulls. Hope this helped a little, we all have different styles. Sorry for the lateness lol
I wonder if u get the ignite proc then when ur damage starts getting to high you could gnomish cloaking device and then you don't have to let the ignite drop because u wiped ur threat
@@seancampbell6292 But from what I recall (14 years ago) you aren't doing arcane explosion on mobs? You are using Blizzard. Sure you can use AE in dungeons I suppose.
@@fennec7906 in a world with only frost mages, I suppose. arcane builds are made specifically for burst aoe. First flamestrike the crowd and then spam arcane blast for big dick damage.
So idk where you get 16 percent hit st for mages but that's way off blizz confirmed max hit cap is 9 percent u can't go beyond that so idk why you would want that extra 7 percent that does absolutely nothing even in other guides they had their hit cap at 10 percent which was super close lol idk how u get 16 it straight baffles me
You keep a max eagle set in your bag or bank for solo play. You keep a stam/crit set for PVP grind. And if you're like me you're so anti social that you still haven't even got a group to get your dire maul KEY to solo your water quest, much less grouped a dungeon to start working on prebis
As a priest main, I really despise Fire Mages, there's literally no good reason for you to play a Fire spec in phase 1, NONE, ZERO, ZIT. Every time I see a Fire spec, I almost instantly brand the person as an arse, you're not dealing any higher dps than frost, you're practically useless in MC, and you're just gonna make dungeon runs a LOT harder than it's supposed to be.
And for dungons? Its far superior... the only reason frost is a thing is because of BRD, UBRS, MC and BWL....in every single other situation fire is superior. You are a fool.
arcane power frost does higher dmg then shatter build (mainly used for leveling) because of arcane spell buffs. it's best for groups in raiding and dungeons, bad for pvp.
I came in for a Frostbolt joke,
Walked out impressed af w the vanilla mage.
When he said consumables, I thought he said “can you see my balls” 😂
I’ll see myself out.

This might be a dumb question but I cant find the answer to this anyway but should you be using max tank spells like frostbolt or fireball?
At end game, always

Where is the arcane stat priority? For arcane missiles spam and gear for doing so😀 can't wait to take a full arcane build to a raid
It's utterly terrible in a mana to damage sense. Prioritize mp5 qnd farm consumables and it might be "ok".
Arcane bad
Spam frostbolt/fireball. You're welcome :)
fireball sucks
until later phase

If you pulled boss use invulnerability put it wouldn't drop aggro, but will give tank some time to recover aggro
nice one mate
Thanks for this.
Is this the best for 5 man groups aswell? It's mainly AOE damage (blizzard etc) that I'm spamming at the moment.
step 1 getting in a guild past the million over mages
There’s no rotation for frost mage
how do u see ur spell damage in ur spell bar?
This isn't classic he's playing.
nice guide friend
lol 2:31 big mage nuts
why winter's might tho? its 7 frost dmg but +30spd gives you 21 damage (since frost bolt scales only 70% of spd)
Not ok man I do two sinisterstrike and i only do 1589 dmg wadda hell man fix this shit or i

I think it is different for spells. Melee hit cap is 9% yeah
6% from mage talents doesn’t show up on the stat info for some reason, that’s why. So you need only 10% in gear.
If you focus on spell damage, I don’t think you would have enough mana for solo aoe?
