    This tutorial is very helpful. Very easy to understand, especially for someone for whom English is not the native language. That happens to be the case. My flights in OBS mode are now all successful.

    Strobe lights come ON entering the runway and to be turned OFF vacating the runway. What you were supposed to turn on with the beacon are the NAV lights. I know you’re not following procedures however you might find this info useful. Great vid, keep’em coming.

    Hey great vids, keep em coming! I'm now using OBS mode a lot but have come across instances where the point the OBS line is centered is not on the runway, quite often in the middle of a field next to the runway. Is this just a mismatch with MSFS nav data? Also if there are 2 parallel runways how do you make the OBS centre off your desired runway? Thx!

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for the comment I think it is a mismatch in msfs when you hit the obs button it will use the very next waypoint as the destination so to speak .and if there is a parallel runway unfortunately you can't do much about that the obs will get you close but then need to use our eyes for the rest of the way .

      Ok also try a flight in the US and see if you still have the same issue some airports are funny in msfs and things don't line up correctly. If you have an ils you can also set that into nav 1 . Set the hsi to nav 1 and then use the obs with that as well instead of using a gps waypoint .

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it also depends on where they place the waypoint in the gps . because when you select obs it uses the very next waypoint as the obs waypoint so for airports with say parallel runways this method will get you close. so if they place the waypoint for the airport off center of the airport then the obs wont be lined up correct it may be an asobo thing

    • @2020fsers

      Hey there so you can get the runway heading from the airport charts like skyvector or the runway heading also corresponds to the runway number . So runway 24 is heading 240 and runway 08 is heading 080 roughly. Hope this helps . I go over a lot of this in the vfr training series playlist

    Very informative vid; well done. Keep ‘em coming.
    But. Why do you find it necessary to precede almost every verb with the needless phrase “go ahead and”? It’s so annoying it makes me want to go ahead and puke. I suggest that next you’re tempted to say “go ahead and turn the landing lights on” or “go ahead and lower the gear” that you go ahead and not say it. It adds nothing to a sentence and it doesn’t make you sound smarter (more like the opposite).
    Just my $.02 from an admitted language snob.

    A little more attention to detail would be nice for us noobs. I mean you don't even tell us what OBS stands for and what its purpose is. And yea I 'm sure we could go to other tutorials to find out those answers but what is the point of coming here if we have to do that.

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ok.so obs means omni bearing selector now that you know that what does that do for you not much so I would rather know how to use obs and how it can help me versus what the meaning or definition is these are simplified tutorials and not in depth lessons with history behind them . I think I am.showing the purpose of obs as that is the main purpose of the video to show how to use it in practical situation and there are other uses but I am showing 1 thing at a time and also the g1000nxi development is not there yet to use all the functions of the gps. thank you for the comment and thanks for watching . But I would advise that if you are wanting to use these tutorials in a real life application then you should watch real garmin g1000nxi vids that can use all functions and go in depth with lessons . This is just a sim channel to help people get the most out of the sim and have fun .

    • @pbshooter100
      @pbshooter100 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@2020fsers Yea not wanting to to use this in real life app, just MSFS. Don't know where they hell you got that idea. I guess the point is that you need to explain more, like why you would want to use the OBS feature in the first place. You just demonstrated it's use and for some (like me) that isn't completely helpful as yes I now know how to kind of use it but I am missing the why I would want to use it. And yes I can see that it helps align to the runway but is that all? Seems kind of pointless if that is the only purpose of OBS

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like I said all the functions are not available yet to use . Why you want to use it .. well I demonstrated in the video 1 reason why you want to use it and how to use it in this situation not sure what else you are looking for. Maybe talk to the working title people and see if they will speed things up for you but I can only show what is available that's why I suggested real g1000 videos so you can see all the functions but it won't help you much if the g1000 in the sim cannot operate the same so for users of the sim I am demonstrating what the g1000 in the sim is capable of at the moment.
