- Today, at school assembly, we farewell another long service teacher of the school, Mr W Docherty who has been teaching at the same school for 40 years. He was the Head of the Arts Department as well as a very renowned soccer coach. The school paid tribute to him by honoring him with the school haka. All the best for your retirement Mr Docherty.
He was my art teacher in the early 90s
He is a legend
And mine in ‘83 !! He’s been around a while
What a great man!
This is so moving. Everyone in sync, every single one of them is so passionate and excited, they're honouring their traditions and culture. What a group of top young lads
Thank you.
Kids in England and probably in other countries could learn something from this as majority don't seem to show respect to anything
@@matthewhodd7052 as a Brit I highly agree with this, it's shocking to see such respect amongst young people (and I am a young people, I'm 23)
Agreed.

Please keep preserving this culture and tradition. It's so important for the sake of everyone out there. Greets from Switzerland.🇨🇭
Congratulations PNBHS you've raised an army! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼❤❤❤
haha
I will never tire of watching this.
thanks
Haka has sleep mostly late 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Never never let this be stolen from your culture.
Agreed.
It nearly was ,Maori were beaten in school 50 years ago speaking Maori, bit they faught and revived the language when you loose the language you loose the culture then identity then oppression can set it sane with many countries that were colonised, we have come along way but much more to do ,it caused a lot of oppression for Maori , healing is needed in Aotearoa we are on our way however
@@amyturner6275 thanks for sharing.
@@amyturner6275 Hi Amy, so many native cultures have long histories of fighting for their cultural practices. Yet, what I am directly referencing is the shared experience and respect around Maori culture and language in New Zealand. In most places here in the United States, the non-native students would not be allowed to participate in this ceremony for fear of cultural appropriation. Yet, in New Zealand, you've found a balance where the language and culture are promoted and celebrated by shared teaching and experience. Don't let that be stolen. Its something all kiwis should be deeply proud of!
Lol!
This must be so good for their souls! The mana in that room is electric!
It was.
And the wairua will feel like electric👍🏻👍🏻
@@georgeapirana812 Thanks.
That's how you summon demons.
Or whatever you call demons today.
@@imustbecrazy5626 you really must be because hakas are definetley not for summoning demons. And we still call them demons. What else would we call them?
I played football with Willie Docherty.
Top bloke.
He would have grown men who had taught years ago come up to him in a pub and still call him Sir.
A true gentleman.
Legend.
must be a much loved teacher
He sure is.
Я из РОССИИ , сколько мощи и силы в хаке, это бесподобно!!!
Cheers
In the US. This would definitely offended someone's delicate sensibilities. I wish my culture had this kind of respect and reverence for it's elders and ppl that garnered respect.
Indeed

when I was 7 (1959) mu who was in the Theatrical trade and Costumier, in Sydney, Australia, had a troup from the National Ballet of New Zealand over to out house for a dinner. (we had a massive Dinning room and main parlour) and me and baby sis were shuffled off to bed early. but we were called out in our jammies to watch the men all in Dinner suits put on a Haka.. to me it was both terrifying and beautiful at the same time, and have loved the Haka ever since.
Cheers
What's the name of this haka? I'd like to know words and maybe find some video learning how to perform this, cause it's so beatiful, emotional and unique. Cheers from Poland guys.
This is the school haka. Link below for the words.
