Love hearing Michael announcing those homers off of Judge just makes my day. Say what you want about Michael but he's my favorite announcer and one of the reasons I'm a Yankee fan. Cone is my second favorite.

@@punkem733 Don't worry, your eyes are good! You read it right. However, you might need to check your brain... there's no problem with liking the announcer of your team. The announcer is the person you have to listen to for the whole game (which is usually 3+ hours). I wouldn't want to watch baseball nearly as much if the Cardinals didn't have good announcers. Plus, the announcer is the reason lots of people get into baseball in the first place. Whether you listen to the game while you drive or listen to the game on your stereo at home because you can't afford a TV, it's the announcer who's the one making you a fan of the beautiful game

Neither Smith, or Cotton are on the team anymore. They were DFA'd about a month ago now, and Strotman is doing terrible in the minors (has a 6.56 era this season), so no he's not a better option than Archer.
So they designated them for assignment with little reason to do so, especially regarding Cotton. This is a reminder to them. Archer is favored for being a Ray just like the head coach was.
