I’m from Cheshire England. I’m going to try this on a mussel shell and good luck with your venture .

Super quick video on oyster shells. Well done and most informative. Love your idea of cutting around the vase completely. Looks great! Keep going. 😁Chattykathy

This was such a great tutorial! I found oyster shells last summer and have them in our garage. Totally inspired to make these now!

Very pretty! Do you sell the gold cord hangers for the ornament? 1:29

Great tutorial! I would love to know where people buy the Oyster shells and can you let us know what size Oyster shell you are using in this video? Thank you!

Just found your video! I’m interested in trying this…I’m a calligrapher and thinking of a way I could incorporate my calligraphy. Any tips on how to keep the napkin from creasing? Thanks :)

Try writing on Rice Paper and then cutting out your design. Rice Paper is very pliable, but is musher stronger than napkin paper.

Hi Molly, I used white acrylic paint but it looks streaky on my shell. You can see the paint strokes. How do you avoid this? Your paint looks like smooth?

Hi! The key to avoiding streaks are thin layers. It will take more coats this way, but should reduce the appearance of strokes. While mine are pretty much smooth, there are slight brush marks visible!

What is the name of the gold hangers?

Love making these, but I'm having the hardest time finding a gold paint that'll stay gold. Most start out beautiful but end up looking brassy. Any suggestions? Thxs!

I'd recommend the gold leaf paint I used in this video. Linked in the description and on my storefront. I have shells I decorated years ago and they still look bright and gold! The key is to make sure the paint is mixed well before use. Shake it up! Otherwise it separates a bit and comes out looking dull. Hopefully this help. Happy crafting!

Please let me know where you purchased the hangers, i.e. what are they called & what size drill bit you used.

From Amazon! They're on my Amazon Storefront. If you search "gold ornament string," various options should show up. As far as the drill bit goes, I can't remember exactly, but either 1/8" or slightly smaller. Happy crating!
