    Hi, would I be able to then use the shells as a candle jar or would it be flammable?

      Hello Catherine, a finish with metalleaf and varnish is heat resistant, but otherwise just as flammable as any other type of paint. If you just want to put a tea light on it, I don't think that will cause any problems.

    Thank you for the video!❤
    With what can I substitute Pearlescent colors ( I want to keep natural color of the purl)?

      Hi Anastasia, You're welcome. You can also skip the pearlescent paint. Many shells already have a beautiful mother-of-pearl layer. If you would like a little more shine, you could also apply a layer of satin gloss or gloss varnish. Good luck!

    Hi there! Where can I buy the pearlescent clear paint? Any other brands you can recommend to me if yours isn’t available? Thanks!
    Also, I’m planning on doing this to some seashells and making little candles. Is the paint and gold foil going to affect that or should I just use acrylic gold paint?

      Hi Hannah, our paint is available in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Unfortunately I can't give you sales addresses in other countries or continents, but you can probably find something similar at a hobby store or art supplies store. I don't foresee any major problems if you make candles from the shells. Gold leaf or silver leaf is no more flammable than paint. Have fun and good luck!

    Is it better to use real gold leaf, or would imitation gold leaf be okay?

    • @AbbondanzaPaint
      @AbbondanzaPaint  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Laura, in this video I also used imitation gold leaf. So that is absolutely fine. Real 24K is difficult to work with for inexperienced users.

      @@AbbondanzaPaint hi there- hoping to try this at home with a bunch of my shells. I have experience making jewelry and feel like I am up to the task of handling the real gold foil. What is it exactly that makes it more difficult to work with? My guess is that it’s more delicate /tenuous? Thanks for this great video!

    • @AbbondanzaPaint
      @AbbondanzaPaint  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@natalien.5702 Thank you. True 24 K gold leaf is extremely delicate and therefore more difficult to apply. As soon as you touch it, it will immediately stick to your fingers. So you will need a special brush for applying the leaf. Also a gilding cushion is used (a small cushion with a little 'windshield'). Once you've mastered it, real gold leaf is great for jewelry because it won't oxidize as soon as you touch it. A protective layer is not necessary. Good luck!
