From basic research of price range, I found that if Boat is able to Launch their smartwatches between the price range of 500rs to 5000rs Then there is a chance of their success. So basically Apple has a 20,000 - 69,000 price range, Fitbit has an 11,999-22,999 price range, Samsung has an 11,000 - 22,000 price range & Samsung also has a higher & lower price range than this, & Titan has a 2000 - 8000 price range.
This is basic research, So please consider rechecking it.

The smartwatch game is actually very complex.

Boat is a perfect example of how understanding your target market is the most important thing while running a business.
Even before you start, the question you should be asking yourself is who am I going to cater to?
Eventually, that should be clearly conveyed in your branding.

Marketing Hardik pandya gave an edge to boat over mivi as
    1. More people watch cricket over carryminati on TH-cam
2.Boat didn't position itself as a sports brand but a style brand as you said in MSD and reebok.
    3. The image of Hardik was comparatively better (even after Koffee) than Carry because of language

We associate the standard of ambassadors with standard of product. Even if i am a fan of carry minati and not of hardik pandya i still objectively know that pandya represents a higher (hence more aspirational) strata. So when mivi and boAt are priced similarly, boAt still feels more premium simply because it's being endorsed by more premium and elite ambassadors

I agree with this video but the reason you said between OnePlus 7 series success & Xiaomi Mi 9 is Not that correct... As a Tech Enthusiast I would like to mention some points behind OnePlus 7 Series success if we compare with Xiaomi Mi 9 as you did -
    1. From starting (OnePlus 1) OnePlus portrayed them as a Premium brand who is also providing better value compared to Samsung which Xiaomi didn't , Xiaomi portrayed them as a brand that mostly focuses below 20K segment !!
    2. So, when a customer looks both history it was probably 🔴2 thing -
    i) one brand who was making premium phones is now become popular ( OnePlus 7 Series ) & one the other hand...
ii) A brand who was making budget devices is now started making more premium device ( Xiaomi Mi 9 ) . Not only this ...
    3. At that time, OnePlus had an edge which is their UI - Oxygen OS, over Xiaomi MIUI but Now OnePlus has lost it for the merger and Oxygen OS is probably going to be History soon... Also ...
    4. OnePlus Portrayed them as a Global Brand when it is actually a Chinese brand while Xiaomi, Vivo & Oppo didn't focus on this part .... OnePlus endorsed Lots of American & European Tech TH-camr & specially for the Good UI & slightly less price than Samsung they praised OnePlus , here Xiaomi was also lacking !!
Btw, I really like your videos ❤️

As per my opinion regarding the second question that you asked; MIVI chose to rope in youth icons on YT and other social media platforms to market their products whereas boAt went ahead with players from the Indian team. The reach of the players > the reach of BB or CM (not taking anything away from their accomplishments)
And I think there was another aspect to it. The cricketers belong to an elite class and this brand tried to tie us with that class which in itself was a huge draw.

As an audiophile I can say that boat has a to develop a lot. If you see boat products are mainly bass focused which completely distorts the mids and highs. I think boat has to do a lot of work in terms of R&D. A company cannot solely rely on marketing.

Since u r an audiophile your judgement about hearables is quite nuanced, same is with my friend who has found similar kind of faults with Boat. But me, and others like me who aren't audiophiles & use hearables just to watch videos and not go into minor detailing so I find Boat has quite good quality, of course it's not at all as good as JBL but for us it works quite well. So with its above avg quality & cost effective price range its a good brand.

Whenever I think about Boat, I am reminded of a similar brand with genius marketing- Dr Dre's Beats. (They even sound similar) I think that's because Dr Dre also had some ingenious marketing with somewhat good quality products with bass boosted, so for the people who never tried premium headphones, it genuinely did feel like a massive upgrade from the crappy $1 Apple Airpod earphones that were widely used at the time, and hence, Dr Dre was so successful.

Mivi focused on the urban market in the country and was focusing on the young age group where TH-cam stars are mostly known whereas cricket is famous and is loved by all the people regardless of their age. Also these TH-cam stars are not that famous in the rural market where yes the internet is available but they are busy watching reels and cricket, live tv, local folk song and movies and are not interested or are unaware of the topics like roasting and online gaming etc. Whereas they also love cricket.
So consider an example here:- if I today go to Amazon to buy a product and see people who I know advertising and seeing people whom I don't know advertising, I would obviously choose the product that I can relate with the celebrity.
Also out fathers and grandparents also love cricket and still know cricketers and watch them and are unaware of carryminati and BB.
That's what made the huge difference.
Hope you see and like my comment❤️

I personally believe to get there, you need to be completely involved in it. I'm at the moment. I follow business news, geopolitics and marketing news in general every single day and guess what, I already feel that I know enough than an average person in my friends or family circle. However, eventually after doing this continuously you'll realise that you also need to ask critical questions to yourself. If you only consume news and don't ask WHY, WHAT & HOW, nothing you watch will affect your life or your career in any way.

Yaa their differences in choosing a brand ambassador made a great difference, as Bhuvan Bam and Carry Minati they both have a great influence as a social media influencers but they lack in some ways in front of Hardik Pandya and others. Other more important thing to be noted is when I saw Neha Kakkar and Diljit Doshanjh as the brand ambassador of BOAT I was attracted towards BOAT rather than MIVI because it's a human instinct that we actually take advice and follow the once who are well known in the that particular field. For example, whenever I wanna know about any of the cars, I would take advice from CARVERSAL or Faisal Khan rather than taking the same from Technical Guruji, even if Technical Guruji has a large fan base. And this drives me to the conclusion that proper brand ambassador can be a game changer for your company in front of many competitors. Correct me if you think I am wrong in some or the other way.🙂 Thank You!!

Also take into consideration the AMAZING AFTER SALES SERVICE which no one else is providing. I bought a boat earphone for INR 350 in 2019 with a warranty. When one side of it stopped working after 5 months, I raised a claim and unlike other providers they DID NOT ask me to ship the product to them. Instead a courier person picked it from my doorstep and 2 weeks later I got a BRAND NEW earphone delivered to me! All that for 350 rupees? WOW! As a result, the experience and trust made me purchase 2 more earphones for my family and very recently I went for their Airdopes as a gift for my fiance.

A case study on Byju's will bring some light on the Tech-Ed market. Their strategies like buying competitors with high aggression and pushing the market so hard that its name started resonating in the parliament also. The beginning of the pandemic saw the emergence of many such companies, even Tata joined the war with Tata Studi.

Only palki sharma of wion could make video on whitehatjr and byju's using the logo. (But, then she is a well known journalist working for news channel)
pradeep punia was dragged to court. But, small TH-camrs would hesitate.

One very important thing you missed is the after-sale support. (which I think is the biggest factor for boat)
When you buy a boat you already know that the quality will not be very good compared to premium products. But, you also know that it will last a long time. And in case the product gets damaged during the warranty period, boat will simply replace the product. In 2019, the quality of after-sales support for most Boat Competitors was very bad. (Noise still has one of the worst after-sale support: spent around 2 months to get my TWS replaced that too they gave some old and used unit). However, if you have a Boat earphone and you raise a complaint, you will get a replacement in under 14 days without any excessive questioning. I remember getting my Boat Rockers replaced thrice in one year, and even after it got damaged thrice in one year, I was happy with the product.

This is one of the best channels to learn about Marketing. As a marketing student, I know the value of this amazing channel..
    Brand endorsement.
The choice of brand ambassador is so important because the people whom you choose as your brand ambassador are going to be your predominant customers (age group or target market) of your brand. In the case of boat, by endorsing young sportstars like Hardik and Prithiv, the brand shows the predominant user of their products. By choosing the right brand endorsement, brand can successfully create a perceive value among the target Customers.

I always had the same question in mind what differentiated boAt from mivi inspite of having almost same quality and mivi having a strong base of almost every popular youtuber endorsing their product. Even a time came when literally each and every content creator were advertising mivi so much that a regular subscriber was compelled to buy out of extreme word of mouth. Well I think there are two factors which helped boAt stand out
First, bringing cricket and film celebrities as ambassadors: now although youtubers have a strong fan base but still their reach to tab in pan india stands no where in front of mainstream celebrity. Thus by doing this boAt established itself as a sophisticated yet affordable product.
Secondly, boAt never endorses itself as a gadget it always brings up to the audiences as a lifestyle product and a necessary fashion quotient whereas mivis main strategy was to establish itself as the best in class technology product, that's where boAt played with the psychology of consumers.
The clash of mivi and boAt is something I nowhere found a good and exact answer. Please let me whether I'm right or wrong.☺

I completely disagree with the point of OP selling at peak due to Robert's advertisement.
If there's some deep sneak peek in OP's strategy since it's inception,
It has build it's community at first and with the strong community opinions they came to know that smartphone users want bloatware-free OS, good chipset, flagship features such as alert-slider at lower prices.
Then, they started with invite-based selling strategy and one-stop selling on Amazon.
Their product itself was great and hence it got bigger sales every year. This Robert's advertisement or taking in Amitabh Bachchan as an ambassador just gave them a slight push in brand awareness.
OP has always had it's own game when it comes to selling and it's not close to Boat's strategy!

I don't think that the brand ambassadors made that much of a difference than the difference created by tech youtuber, now when someone has to buy something they search on youtube best earphone under 2k rs, it's only boat topping the lists due to its quality, mivi is reported as not worth the money, that's my review being tech enthusiast.

Focus on any particular niche and then look into the price segments the best sellers offer… The reason why Amazon is so successful in India, is also because of the lower price point and the ease of use and customer experience. The first goal should be to become customer centric rather than profit centric. Profit will follow… take something that rich people use but middle-class also want to use, for example good quality tablets in the range of 20,000 to 30,000 is missing in India… The base model iPad 64GB comes at around 31,000. then we have cheap brands from China between 10,000 to 25,000 but nothing special. and obviously above 50,000 we have Samsung tab S series and iPad pro air etc. People want to use a GOOD touchscreen device which is not a laptop between 20,000 and 30,000.

OnePlus rose from OP3 when it was priced at 28k and was flagship killer. It went on to be the same till 7 series when it became flagship rather than killer. RDJ and 7 series are too late in the rise of OP.

I am an audiophile and an advertising person, and i can say two things with a reasonable amount of authority. 1. In India, the average person likes to listen to bassy music with a lot of thump. Hence, most audio companies deliberately tune their equipment that way. Boat is NOT an audiophile company nor is it pretending to be one. So, overall, they have gotten their product and pricing right. 2. BUT. No company can survive on pure marketing alone... esp in the tech space. Sooner or later, some company is going to outspend them, unless they start to innovate in terms of products. And Indian companies are poor innovators. So honestly, I don't see them going too far.
