I have really enjoyed your videos Chris. Always been a Robocop fan. I started printing a few of the suit pieces but damn, there are a lot of them. Just finished Mandalorian Armor and helmet for Halloween for me and My son. Iron man helmets done. Maybe this winter I'll plug away at some more Robo pieces. Found out the hard way NOT to print out the fingers in PLA! Got me some flexible PLA i'm gonna try next for those. Keep up the great work man
Hey man I appreciate you watching! There is quite a bit of pieces, especially when you have to cut them all up. I cut mine up into a lot more pieces then I should of. Good to hear your getting after it! I wish you all the best. Flexible PLA is a great idea and should work out. A guy on theRPF.com that was building the same suit around the time I did built his gloves with TPU and they seemed to work out just fine so I'm sure the flexible PLA will be awesome!
I apologize if this is a dumb question. Would you ever make a bust display piece recreating his iconic shooting pose? With a non-working prop weapon. If so. How much would it cost? With the understanding RoboCop has many iconic poses. The pose I'm talking about is at time 1:04:53 in the movie when he's at the factory. I understand if that doesn't help but it's the only reference point I can think of. Just thought I'd ask. Keep up the amazing work. I hope you and your family are doing well. Thank you for your time good sir.
A few reasons why I opted out on automotive paints that I'll share and forgive me for not mentioning that in the video. 1. Is Availability. If the suit gets scratched up and I want to do a repaint down the line these over the counter spray paints are readily available and I don't have to run to the automotive paint store and pay through the roof for paint. 2nd being its cheaper then using automotive paint. 3rd is spray paint goes on thicker and less chance of runs and it covers imperfections much better. Automotive paint is way less forgiving. 4th it's much easier then having to air brush everything and just leaves the air brushing for the small testors paint highlights. You can buy the duplicolor auto paints but they are not great quality for large pieces and like to spatter. The Duplicolor auto paints also go on super thin! So you better have a perfect finish haha. 5th is I wanted to show people they also can get a movie like finish with cheap over the counter paints. Now personally I think automotive paint would have looked slightly better but not enough to justify the hassle and paying more. I just wanted to use this video to lay the groundwork of what I used and someone that's doing a build can take it and run with it and make it their own. If someone wants to use auto paint that's great. Hope that helps!
@@ChrisBoshProps Thanks for the reply! I'm making a robo suit out of Eva foam right now but I'm following your painting suggestions so I was just curious
5:30 These reference photos, i bet my soul to the devil that suit is not screen used in the 1987 Robocop. That's how confident i am in saying that. Not the helmet, not the chest, definitely not the arms (right arm especially) and probably not even the stomach/crotch. That looks way more like the 90s series suit.
I think you missed the whole point of the video, which is about the paints I use. My point for that particular small part of the video was that the original 87 suit looked more green in person, you could even tell in certain scenes throughout the movie. It doesn't take a whole lot of research to find out that was true. Julian Dumont owns a original 1987 Robocop suit and the color scheme is exactly the same as the suit in the photos. 90's suit? Stunt suit? Production suit? Who knows....regardless the 87 suit was more metallic green. Watch the movie again and behind the scenes footage and you can clearly see yourself. My stand is that it was a production or stunt suit of some sort since it has the same paint scheme as the original suit that Dumont owned at one point.
@@ChrisBoshProps I'm not disagreeing with you on that at all. 1987 and the 90s series does infact have green in it, i completely agree. It's just that the 87 & the 90s suit are different in colour, despite both using green. And as I'm sure you know, that the molds for 87 & 90s' are slightly different, and the 90s suit is more glossy than the 87's which probably helps the paint jobs look different. I was just talking about the reference photos. The outcome of work can only be as good as the references used. And if the references aren't of an 87 paint job, then the outcome isn't gonna look like an 87 paint job. Hope you do a Robocop 2 version in the future.
I like the kickboxer and bloodsport music in the background robocop and van damme 😂
Thank you for sharing. Really appreciate it. Highly considering on doing this myself
You should!
Super dope
Thanks!

I'd be very interested to hear about your flexible PLA fingers! I had considered it but never pulled the trigger.

"I'd buy that for a few thousand dollars 💸 "
Thanks!
Looks pro, dude! I love it!
Thanks Josh!

Thanks for the comment. I don't really plan on doing that but I do plan on doing a normal bust that I have a file for in the future.
I notice in your Outros in the videos that you are a professional wrestler. Is it cool if you can make a video about it?
I was way back in the back not currently. Maybe I'll share more in the future. Thanks for the comment.
Awesome
Thanks!
Was there any reason for moving away from the auto spray you mentioned in an older video or was it just that you prefer this look over that one?
