I'm new at wakeboarding after leaving the amazing surf in Hawaii and having to relocate to Florida. We became depressed until we got to Raven / McCormick's park and now is our place of therapy....we went from surfing all the North Shore breaks me and the kids....back to ground zero Kooks at wakeboarding so this video was great. Respecting others and respecting locals is big in the surf world and I think you also have to respect the locals at a wakepark too...introduce yourself...be humble and show gratitude.
Few things i learned from this video. 1. I am definitely a kook 2. Im convinced you're a parttime wakeboarder and fulltime actor 3. This video needs to be played at every cable park
Will you run a clinic at CWC? lol. I'd like to add---when there is a queue in the dock and someone has been in the water for a while, he/she might as well exit and give way to others.
Hey JB ... just wanted to let you know that your tip about helping out with minimizing rollers for others by riding close to the features was something I learned... I’ve definitely experienced the yuck of a bouncy cable and a multitude of rollers riding as a beginner along side the pros at the park. Anyway... another good video man... also love the humor. And you’re so right that wakeboard life is about support, positivity and fun. 🙌🏻
Hey J.B nice video. All of these reasons are really good. Also some advice for wake boarders is don't ride when your stoned because you don't want to get in an accident because of that
Best video i seen in a while dude! Every single park should show this video for wakeboarding induction 👏👏🙌 hate ppl shouting and screaming then they go down! Or just floating behind the rails/kickers! Drives me mad! Big time 🙈🙈
interestingly enough, most parks are perfectly layed out to suffer from this with a carrier distance between 65-85m and a cable speed of 30km/h the waves (bow+stern) caused by your board perfectly align with the obstacles that are placed between 3-4 meters away from the cable
Good video with great information. I usually only go big off kickers when a pro is behind me.... where I crash, they just boost over me. Keep on rockin brother!
You probably already thought of this, but you should make a winter movie with all the best hits from all the amazing riders that you’ve ridden with while abroad👌🏻
finally, sometimes i'm guilty too because of being too greedy to release the handle after fall the recipe is crystal clear - release the handle, swim to the shore, get yourself to ticket office and buy hour more or, if you can, buy a whole day ride :)
I love that you included, to help all cable parks, but I would say, let us help create more cable parks through positivity. Keep up the positivity for our beloved sport.
oh, that reminds me a bunch of things... once i was really close to smash something while learning ts bs 360 wrapped, but, fortunately, i was said to try something weird and light i have never done before instead of attacking concrete wall, so i've decided to try a simple twist. and that has saved my nerves :) once i've landed just few centimeters aside a girl resting with snowboard on bigair landing spot. it was very hard for me to avoid swearing and to stay polite while explaining why she should give up this strange habit, lol and yeah, every year i see those smart arses thinking that dock start queue is not for their vip majesties, but it's sort of same thing everywhere, at the gym, for example :) yep, great tips for everyone, no matter who will see this: newbies like me or experienced riders sure: bro, this is useful vid filled with positive vibes, thanks!
I hate when people cut in line. Even beginners do it. It's no big deal if you want to go in front, just make sure you ask. Also, be mindful of your equipment lying around. Keep it out of the middle of walk areas. And be mindful of other people's gear, if you have a beat up rental board, try not to bang into somebody else's board while on the dock. When you spend several hundred dollars on a board, you dont want a big scratch in your graphics or a chunk out of the edge just because of someone else's carelessness. Also, take care of the rental gear. I see people smashing their feet into bindings and blowing the backs out of the boots pretty often. Just a couple of things I've noticed, not complaining, just trying to keep the smiles at the dock!
Haha, good behavior is a matter of respect. Very funny Video with nice humor. I am coming next week to CWC. And because i like those kind of advertise, i am gonna have a basecap -rock on !
People chilling after falling behind a kicker is something that makes me itchy every time. For two reasons: 1. it’s annoying, because sometimes we are laps-capped, so I won’t be able to throw something on that lap and basically missing a lap ; 2.worse, it’s dangerous, especially if the rider is RIGHT behind the kicker. I have developed a ritual of mine to always check the kickers when I’m riding on the other side of the lake (if possible) and the riders right in front of me to be sure no fallen rider will be there when I arrive, because last year I like jumped above a guy that was chilling and hiding and it scared the shit out of me. :D
Love the video but I'm not sure how I should swim away from a landing with my board still attached. U mentioned swimming away and then unstrapping but I just don't get it.
When it’s busy, let the operator know you are about to drop, so next person can get on straightway. I see so many people going over the last corner and just dropping the handle, so they can just slide back to the dock without taking their board off.
iam an outlaw ,i arrive and its my park kookz!!! haha joke , respect and helpful its the way. i come from surfing and i saw a lot of bullshit in the water and at the beach haha.
What to do when the cable stops and you were out on the water.. I noticed some cables have a hard time getting up to speed dragging several ppl out in the water after a restart... might be good courtesy to let go if you’re near the dock to make sure the cable can restart promptly?
Here many cable don't let you hold your line in this case, and give you hard time if you don't let go. They think it will degrade their motor if they start with the extra drag... They are probably right, but they are also responsible for stopping the cable on the first place. if it happen multiple times and i am au the opposite corner, i hold on my line regardless of their policy: there are limits after being a jerk is the thing to do 😂
Hi! Im planning to go to cwc and was just wandering if i should book apartment in advance or is it cheaper and better way to just go there and find one. And till when would you say is still good weather there? Till en of march or also april?
you got any tips for me? ive just started learning to wakeboard. I can get up with no problem at all but Im having trouble learning to go side to side and staying up long because we're on a very busy and choppy lake and sometimes the board just gets swallowed by wake or its just so bouncy that the board flys out from under me due to the bumps. We try to not wakeboard until evening at sunset. Cant tell if im just bad or if its the waves messing me up
@@jboneill ill try to get some soon. just bought my boat an the wheel bearings were so shot the fucking wheels locked up on me the other day and having trouble finding the right bearings lol

How should u get out of the water once u fell? I see most people don't take their bindings off and it takes them much longer to get out of the water. It's faster to take off and swim to the shore. I find that disrespectful to take that much time if you're blocking obstacles for others.
I hate when people fall from the start and sit in front of starting dock and chill like they don't know how to swim or act like everyone in line isn't waiting on them to move
