Being a warhammer fan of over 30 and not anymore. Kings of war has lots of potential lore wise. Would be nice to see purely lore based supplements. I do like a cheesy pun turning the tide 😂
There is a free lore book on our webstore (www.manticgames.com/kings-of-war/the-world-of-pannithor/) and we also have a range of novels set in the Pannithor world produced by Winged Hussar Publishing too.
I'll admit I was sceptical about the command dice but I do like what I'm seeing, although until we see all possible orders there's no way to tell if there are any that are outright a problem. My main thought is investing in enough dice to generate 5ish command points a turn (so probably 60ish points) is enough to give a player a way to band aid 1-2 ongoing problems they may be having, such as an unfortunate waver blocking up half the army or a unit failing a critical damage roll. Paying points to have a versatile "fix it" ability 1-3 times a turn seems actually reasonable tbh. Not everyone would choose to because not every army design needs it or wants it, but as an option it is solid.
Considering the command point cost of those abilities, I'd say unless I have 15+ points per turn, the gameplay effects won't justify the additional mental load.
Disagree. I think they add something interesting to the game, and you definitely don't need 15+ points to have a noticeable impact on the game. Tactical retreat alone could completely change the momentum of a game, for instance.
All of this is great! Thank you Mantic. Now let's see if Vanguard which these dice were designed for can maybe come back into the limelight. You guys are great. Keep up the fantastic work!
I loved the new abyssal units. It looks like it will to help a army that my group feels has been missing something. Not looking forward to command dice. There is enough in the game already this feels like bloat. I have talked about it with people in my area and it will probably be ignored and left out of tournaments. I do agree there should be some randomness to the game. I think the rolling to hit and damage is enough. It feels bad that I now I have to hope I get my command points for the ability I need. To me the appeal of kings over other games was clear rules that did not have a lot of bloat. From looking at command dice in the other games I do not go "O wow here is something that makes me want to play this". I look at it and go Cool more randomness that can dictate if I can do something or not! . This is actually a reason I hate a different game, I have to hope I draw a card to be even able to do something. I do not mind if a dice decide if I succeed or fail, at least I can try. If I have to roll to decide if I can even attempt to do something, I will @#$@!ing pass on that concept. Depending on how unbalanced this rule is and if how it gets addressed in the following CoK I might have to look for a new game.
As I wrote in the comments of one of my Battletech channels, I need this book ( beside the one for BT, of course) and I look forward to the command dice. They ad a lot to firefight (which is my favorit currently) and I hope Kings of War will grow further and get even more exiting.
Our group is manly narrative focused and I had not yet the "pleasure" to play against the plague (we have Enforcers, Forge Fathers, Marauders and Vermyn so far). So far the games where okayish to good balanced, but we also try not to abuse the rules. Maybe I will shift my view after an encounter with the plague.
What would be a good place to start, me and my friend are intrested in starting...is it like 40k where im going to need a book for every faction and a rule book?
It will be interesting to see what each faction gets for unique orders. Also if we dwarves players use the Rock and Stone Order do we get 'Very Inspiring' added if we loudly yell "For Karl!"?
Cover art 🔥 New FotA models 🔥 Command dice ❌ You dont need GW gimmick command points to make KoW a great game. It's already great. Its rules bloat. I dont JUST need to know the 10 abilities and when to use them to prevent me being at an automatic disadvantage... The ballances isn't the biggest bit of cok as you can find them free on the companion. You've made readeance of life confusing for no reason. I take it that commands aren't from the heroes in your army?

that cover art is amazing. excited to try the dice too
I love the art too... but then I'm biased!
Really looking forward to the command dice!

Hopefully these dice are actually available. These were sold out for sooooo long after the launch of vanguard...
Tactical Retreat suggests moving backwards. For 4th maybe call it Tactical Maneuver? I think these little things help in the long run. Cheers.
Looks great team. Rock and stone!

Can I get a Rock and Stone?!
Rock and stoonneee!
Sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun to try out the new/altered rules!

Personally we stopped with Firefight because we didn't felt it was balanced due the command dice
@@spamerling833 Yeah the Plague Lord's Command Aura is broken.

Super excited for command dice! Thanks for the update.
I think the dice are fine so long there are more dice options available and they are cheap enough.
So excited for this!
dope!

Not sold on command dice, but I'll give it a try.
smexy smexy command dice can't wait

I apreciate that someone got the reference
Nice vid, I'm really looking forward to trying out the new command dice mechanics. They sound very interesting.
I just want the rules in German😢. Also i want the placoderms! Why the hell we dont get them with the refresh. 😢😢
Will the online Red book Compendium be updated with the new changes ?
Required Custom dice are always a mistake. Good thing they are optional.
The main irritant is that they’re colour coded, but they use different colours for the sci fi and fantasy command dice…
More rules bloat...
Sound like more extra rules that will be forgotten often during play. Keep it optional.
Not sure why they added command dice - why not add the game affects as spells/artifacts/abilities a general might have?
@@MrHeinzp57 Quite... agreed

why in the christ would they do that?

We didnt change radiance, we added additional clarification
@@mathusala0 it clarification isn't good from what I've read here
Rubbish idea with those dice... very out of touch with the player base
