Honestly THAT is the engine they should sell as the current Lionchief 2.0 versions. It’s a better size, better detail than the traditionally sized LionChief ones they’ve been printing for years. I love this one they lent you. Hope it finds a good home because they’re sure to love it!!
The old semi scale Hudson tooling doesn’t even look remotely like a NYC Hudson, I’m honestly not sure it is one. The new LC 2.0 Lionmaster Hudsons look great!
Great review Art! I really wish Lionel would bring back the LionMaster series. You basically get all the features of a Legacy engine with the ability to run on tighter curves. - Ryan
Nice! I’m catching up on your videos, since I thought that I had subscribed, but I hadn’t. Doh! That is a fine locomotive, for sure. The tender looks like an updated 2426w, like what came with the 773 and the 726. I only have one modern steam engine, an MTH Ps-4, with the fan driven smoke unit. It smokes like crazy, but it’s fun to run and fill the basement with smoke. I like the sound on that Hudson. Excellent bell and whistle, with no obnoxious crew babble. Either way, I’ll be catching up with all of you at York, so I can get some pointers on editing and talk about our layouts. An excellent video, as always.
Being from 2004, this looks really nice. I am definitely in for the new Lionel Lines Lionmaster Hudson due out in 2025. The LionChief+ 2.0 electronics are going to be excellent technological upgrade.
Nice engine. Good speed control and a smooth runner. The only cons I noticed are the lack of synchronized puffing smoke and the background buzzing sound with the Tower Com.
I have the alternative can number, 5314 LM Hudson. I enjoy it very much. One improvement I made was to have a super chuffer chuf generator and snake controller installed. It really brings this locomotive up to current sound and smoke standards.
You might have a hard time sending that Hudson back to Trainz Art? Maybe that was their plan all along! 🤣 Seriously though, that's a fine looking model! Thanks for showing it to us and putting it through its paces! (And I see the Blue Comet's up on the elevated keeping an eye on things!)
Does anyone know how this engine compares in size to the Lionel Berkshire jr, I want to run this Hudson with traditional o rolling stock but don’t know if it would look too big compared to those 6464 boxcars and other semi scale Lionel engines
It will look just fine with traditional rolling stock, it size sits between traditional and scale so slightly bigger than traditional which means it will fit right in with 6464 Boxcars.

Bro the lionchief ones look more goofy than old railking bantam😭

What a beautiful looking Hudson! I bet it doesn't go back and you keep it! 😀

TH-cam Dads leading the charge for the return of Lionmaster!
Thanks for testing the smoke unit too! Very few reviews in any gauge test smoke effects!!

Cool upgrade with the super chuffer, what is the snake controller? I've never heard of that?
Should have read smoke. The smoke is now like a legacy.
Nice looking locomotive. It seems like a lot of the focus from manufacturers has been on longer locomotives and rolling stock, across all scales.

Hey Art great video luv the Hudson great engine have to agree with Mike this is the detail they should put in the 2.0 lionchief
I find it Fascinating that Lionel used the same Whistle sound effect that was used on the C&O 490
Pretty cool review art.
Nice lookin engine. 👍🏻
Awesome engine, great video!
I like your Intro!!!

I’d keep this. These are going to be hot times soon.
