You always make me smile. Perfection apparently means different things to different folks. To the Greeks it must mean 'a reasonable approximation but don't get your hopes up' 😄. Happy the remap worked out though. Looking forward to more bike related vids when you get back from your non-bike related hols! Cheers 👍
The remap is a great improvement. Runs quite rich when cold, which is the complete opposite of stock and runs very well through the rev range. It's a lot quicker! :)
Correct me if I am wrong, but… To my knowledge you are not able to simply remap a Euro5 ECU, but need to reflash (override) the complete ECU software. This will however void your warranty - and your road certification, in case you mind.
My understanding is a complete override is the only way. I have a 701 bought used (2,000 miles) and totally standard. It has worse than expected throttling and a very nasty trait of cutting out from cold within around 200 yards. The first time on a wet left hand at a mini roundabout in second which has me sideways before I caught it. I was ready for it after that but it’s going back under warranty. I would be concerned about both the warranty but also insurance which might be compromised.
@@ianross225 Thanks for watching. I was very interested to read about the 2nd gear cutting out. Prior to the 701 I had a GasGas SM700 (same engine) and I experienced the exact same issue and on two occasions I almost came off. Not good. Have the improvements to the fueling (which the ECU remap has undoubtedly done) affected the warranty? I have no idea, but a motorcyclists overriding concern should be safety and the fueling on the bikes from the factory do not induce confidence. I now have a bike that runs and rides correctly.

Enjoyed your videos and have similar mods and aspirations to you on my 701. I won’t be tempted by the front mudguard……. How did the remap work out?

@@stranobikes Thanks for that. Is it much heavier on fuel?
@ianross225 with both tanks brimmed I rode for 215 miles before it stopped. A mixture of roads and riding styles.
@@stranobikes Many thanks.

I bought a dirt bike but I don’t want mud on it! 😂😂😂
Thanks for watching. I'm glad it made you smile 😃
