  • These are 9’ x 171/2” aluminum ramps. Very heavy but a lot less hassle getting up!

    I screwed some quarter inch plywood to my ramps because I didn't like the gaps between the rungs either and I am thinking about coating them with bed liner making them slip resistant and easy to walk up and down.

    I went to the website discount ramps found this same one 9’ x 17-1/2 black widow aluminum, this same one costs 574$. Wow that’s not cheap but I’m sure it must be a fantastic ramp.

    starting my lawn care business next season, just wondering for reference, do you think loading the truck bed is okay on the transmission with a zero turn loaded onto the bed majority of the time? Or do you think i should get the utility trailer setup?

    • @oxford821
      @oxford821  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’d get a trailer. Your time is your money, it’s faster loading and unloading with a trailer

    A couple bars between them would really help keeping them from moving too much. One on the bottom and one on the top. And maybe even one in the middle.

    • @oxford821
      @oxford821  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, maybe some sort of swinging arm that is permanently connected to one ramp that swings over and latches onto the other one

    You know some legs under there would be a really nice add on. To relieve some weight off or the tail gate. Even if they are 1 or 2 inches off the ground they would prevent some serious injury in case the tailgate breaks. A 2 inch fall is much better than 3 feet.

    • @oxford821
      @oxford821  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t feel like it needed leg support, maybe something that keeps them from sliding

    The straps are for holding the ramps on the tailgate, not side to side on the tailgate.

    How wide is the bed of your truck from the wheel humps? How wide is your zero turn from both back tires? I’m curious

    • @oxford821
      @oxford821  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe it’s about 51” in between wheel humps. This is a 42” wide mower, I can go as large as a 50” deck in my truck

  • @JoeCnNd
    @JoeCnNd ปีที่แล้ว

    Could you try and put the ramps real close together and see how much room you have and try to strap it to the hitch again. I'm thinking about getting a similar toro 42.

    • @oxford821
      @oxford821  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think it would be wide enough. The back wheels would hang off the outsides of the ramp

    • @Personspeople

      I have a 42” John deer your telling me these wouldn’t work?

    • @oxford821
      @oxford821  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not saying that. I was explaining if the ramps are pushed together they wouldn’t be very wide

    Backing into the truck is slow and not safe.
    Drive up and back out slow.

    • @oxford821
      @oxford821  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d be more worried backing down than up?

    • @jehu1441
      @jehu1441 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@oxford821 no, there are too many ways to go wrong backing in.
      Wet tires slipping, power....
      You get the most power driving forward and it's makes sense to use less power backing out.

      Cool story: I needed new tires (10 ply rated E) , the stores were out of control with their prices. I searched on Facefuck marketplace. I found a young guy that just purchased a bran-new 3500 dually Cummings turbo diesel. He took off these stock rims with the stock tires and sold them to me for the price of two new tires!!!

    how big of a mower can you fit on the truck?? 48"??

    • @oxford821
      @oxford821  ปีที่แล้ว

      A 50” deck will fit between the wheel wells. Any deck bigger would need a trailer.

    Are you worried about the pressure on the door?

    • @oxford821
      @oxford821  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This mower weighs around 600lbs. I’ve loaded this amount of weight before on the tailgate without any problems. I should check the cables and make sure they aren’t rusty. Any more weight than this I probably would take the tailgate off before loading

    • @jamiemills954
      @jamiemills954 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You've probably never had a ramp kick out on you. You'll take the couple minutes to apply the ratchet straps once that happens to you one time. Granted, it may never happen with a zero turn because of the smooth wheels and limited power, but I've seen it happen with 4-wheelers a lot. Strap it up buck!

    those small rotating front wheels make me so nervous, I fell off my ramps and bent my zero point, and the tires slip, I just gotta bite the bullet and lay two 1/2" plywood. Loading this way is dangerous.
