The face loop selection chooses where to go along depending on where you click! If you click on the long edge, it will go along the long edge, if you click on the short edge, it will go along there. So it's not random :) Just select the edge that's between two faces that you want the loop to include.
    Great tutorial!

Actually blender knows, which face loop you want to select, you just need to know, how to tell him this 😉
Think of a cube as a set of two face loops - vertical and horizontal. When you want to select horizontal loop - alt+click on point on the face, closest to any of vertically oriented edge (say, left or right), and if you want to pick the vertical loop - consider your clicking point closer to horizontal edges - top or bottom.
And thanks for the tutorial - very nice techniques!

Nice workflow man. Very clever usage of resources and tools available to you, and using it to create best result with least amount of time needed.

Small tip: For making screenshots, the inbuilt screenshot tool of windows is very good (press [win]+[shift]+[S] or search in the settings "use the print screen key to open snipping tool) but it doesn't show the size of the cutout

Wow, thank you so much, Šime I have been using Google Maps since I was 6 years old and have always used it to explore the world. I never thought about using it with Blender. I will definitely use it in some of my renders. Thanks again!

every time i watch your videos, the first thing i do is grab my notebook to write down all the helpful tips you show. This notepad has become my blender bible ! And now, every time i build an asset it helps me out so much when something is not working correctly. Thanks for a new batch of awesome tips dude. What the videos show, is you really just need to practice the fundamentals of modelling A LOT and eventually it becomes so fun and less stressful to build your own assets.

Is it okay with regard to copyright to use Google Maps like this? It's a fantastic technique but I think I would have to retexture the models with other images if I were making a saleable model pack, for example. I guess for background objects for personal use no one is going to notice or care about textures too much.
Thanks for the great content as always :)

Only thing I would do different, is instead of bevel and loop cut to extrude, I would add seperate resized cubes for certain parts. To reduce the polygon count. After getting a 4 hour render time on a scene that definetely shouldn't be that complicated, I became more-less paranoid.
Other than that, great technique and workflow. Amazing tutorial. Thank you.

wait but can we really use the texture that captured from google map for commercial project ,isn't that illegal? or break the policy ,or this is all just a personal project ,(I ever have this idea too but I don't know much about the right to do this)

    • @milosh996
      @milosh996 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

I think it's a very grey area. I work on a real map for a bus simulator game and I was told on the game forums that it is illegal to use screengrabs from Steeet view as textures for buildings that are on commercial maps (maps that would be DLCs on Steam). If I offer the map in community for free then I guess nobody (from Google) would care. I wish I'm wrong because making textures would be so much easier.

It's copyrighted. Good for reference but not textures. Buy reference packs instead or just swap the materials for ones you can use.

Hi can you make a roadmap from no idea of 3D Blender to advanced but all with your videos? And if you think some part is missing. Can you make a tutorial for it?. So with this roadmap of yours courses and tutorial we can go from 0 to hero 🎉. By the way thanks for the contents. ❤

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

I actually have several tutorials on Patreon where I explain the whole process from start to finish and they are suitable for beginners. You can see the links in the description.
