- The Hellenic Air Force F-4E Phantoms have returned to RIAT for the second consecutive year and this time, they’ve taken it up a notch!
Only one F-4 made it to RIAT last year, the second frame (with a special tail) was deemed unserviceable in Italy during its transit to the UK.
Well and truly making up for last year, the Greeks not only sent two special tailed Phantoms - they also bashed the circuit for five minutes making several low appearances and go arounds, some of which even had a hint of afterburner!
The Hellenic Air Force Phantoms join the Turkish Air Force ones in the static displays at RIAT 2024. The four of them on base together makes it the largest F-4 gathering in the UK for nearly 20 years.

When the Hellenic Air Force officially retires them, I wish I could afford to purchase one and park at some pllace so that I could admire it every time I wanted....

I didn't know the Greek Air force flew these.😎
they are upgraded F4 aup WITH THE F-18 radar and AIM 120b launching capabilities although they are used for bombing of less important targets. They will be retired in a couple of years although they could fly a bit more
Well you know now.
I believe there are two F-4s from Turkey there as well :)
Other than Iran, I think these are the last two countries still operationally flying the F-4,
S. Korea just retired theirs several months ago.
yes, Turkish ones are morednized types called Terminator 2000. Wonderful planes

Poor greek taxpayers....
Exactly, and not only that. Instead of flying all over Greece for their 50 years of service with the Greek Air Force and for other "50 years of ...." reasons, they preferred to go to RIAT. So essentially it's all about show.
This great old lady!
This GREAT old MALE (ARSENIKO)..get your facts straight MR
They're fighter jets guys, they aren't people. They don't have genders. They non living things.
