I'm guessing that maybe the reason your channel has blown up so big, is that you have been consistently positive throughout the entire history of your channel. That really stands apart, and it definitely appeals to me. Cheers!

In retirement, the reason I want a warm place pretty much year-round is because I don't want to spend half of my little time left stuck indoors! If you're indoors all the tiime, where you live has little else to offer. I also don't want to navigate ice and snow in my weaker, more breakable golden years. Being warm is absolutely critical in my golden years.

Thanks to your videos I’ve discovered West Virginia and am leaving southwest Flori-duh next spring for southwest West Virginia where one city’s motto is “America’s Natural Air Conditioned City.” Yep, I’m not a fan of humidity and heat and hurricanes and awful drivers and expensive insurance premiums and . . . oh well, I could go on and on. Plus I can put clothes on to stay warm.

Where in West Virginia did you decide to move to? You got my interest especially when you said it's not humid, is it because of being in the mountains? I'd love to find a place that isn't humid! Even places that have a lot of snow in the winter, the summers are just as hot and humid as southern states, and I'd like to know more about West Virginia! 👍🏽

Athens, Ohio won Playboy Magazine's "Top Party School" ranking several times when I was young. I went there for Halloween a couple times in the 1970's, and saw things a young man should probably never see. Which is probably not why it made this list. But it is definitely a beautiful area.

Great video, these are all pricey areas to live in-period.
Most people who live in the expensive counties retire to the Eastern counties, yes more crime but affordable (I will take it compared to Detroit).
The problem with Northern & Central California is there are not many hospitals close by, water is expensive, & too chilly for us 55 or better crowd. Palm Springs area is just too dang hot in the summer, you might as well move to AZ (less taxes)
We prefer the Temecula area (yes that includes Hemet-Winchester, Menifee & Hemet are changing for the better), tons of shopping, hospitals, beautiful hiking, & a fantastic wine country 🍷

Love your videos 👍 I'm currently living in Berkeley Springs West Virginia and commute to Virginia for work which gives me a great income and cheap mortgage situation 😁 I was really hoping West Virginia would notice the retired crowd leaving the state and work on making the state more financially friendly for retirement but I guess they aren't getting the hint. I'd like to stay but I'm not going to have my pension and other retirement income drained by taxes. There are a large portion of people from my department moving to South Carolina when they retire and they seem to love it there 👍

I really like the cost of living and healthcare ratings for retirement. What I would like to see if where people from different areas adapt best to. I moved to Tulsa, OK from Richmond, VA a year ago at 60. It has everything I thought I wanted -- a low cost of living, plenty of parks, etc. I bought a condo in a good area for cash AND I DESPISE it here. I don't fit with the mentality. Maybe people originally from the NE do better to stay on the east coast some type of video like that. I feel stupid that I thought it would be a great place to ultimately retire. I was wrong and will go back to Virginia.

They were in the news last week because they gave people moldy steroid shots and people got bacterial meningitis and some of them died. In the past 2 years or so there's also a homeless problem that has grown to rates so high the city actually has a spot called the pines that people are allowed to camp year round directly on one of the main public walking paths for the city. It keeps catching fire and people are back there smoking meth. Just because we're on the lake doesn't mean this is a great place to live 😅😅😅

I don't agree with your choices. Mainly North Idaho, Coeur d'Alene. The home prices have skyrocketed! I know... I live near there. Post Falls is more affordable by a little and even that has gotten way out of hand for housing costs. Winters are rough and there are no major medical services there and no major airport. You need to go to Spokane for that and they have a severe doctor shortage in Spokane... Athens, Ohio would be a better choice... The Dakotas are way too snowy... No retiree says yippee!! Sign me up for shoveling snow! (2 stage snow blowers are great! You need to drop a grand or more for one). Trust me as I am a senior citizen and live near Northern Idaho. It is back breaking shoveling snow and not fun when snowplows shovel big ice boulders on your newly shoveled sidewalk(they bury them--especially corner houses). When that happens I just say scr@# that. I am a 5'3" 64 year old.. I can really do well, but 50 lb. Ice boulders and trying to chip through the ice is too much... And not fun to drive in... And I have driven in it for many years. Never had a 4WD or AWD car. I get around pretty good, but then I know how to drive in it... It is the newbies that create problems... Geez... Just today it barely snowed, but there was ice on the roads and traffic in town slowed down to a crawl... I had to take some shortcuts around the panicking drivers and make my way home. I did fine... Good braking and control on the ice(studs are a wonder). 😊 A yard snow removal service will run around $150-$200 a month for those that can't shovel the snow. Today we received 2-3 inches of snow in Spokane(a light dusting) and Coeur d'Alene received 3-6 inches. They typically get much more snow than we do. They also have a limited public transport system. So plan on driving everywhere. I would never live there. Nice to visit though. At least the Kardashians seem to love it. 😅 Maybe have a Condo there and spend Summers there would be the best choice... 👍

@@unpluggeddogdreams Yes. Exactly! I have driven in the snow(even deep snow after 8-12 inches has fallen in a day) and on hard packed ice for over 40 years and the story is always the same. Newbies don't know how to drive in it and the regulars put off getting their snow tires on until the last minute always put it off and end up sliding all over on the first snowy day. Geez... 😅

I'm a 52 yearl old Latino professionals born and raised in NYC, the 18 years and Florida, now CA for the past 23 years. I have traveled throughout most of the U.S. Most of the country is a dump. No industry, culture, entertainment, etc. I wouldn't live anywhere else, you have everything you can want, live in an urban, desert or mountain region, home prices in any price range. If your a minority, hands down CA is the place. Ive been an engineer for 25 years, it boggles my mind when I travel and i still get the stares, hear the comments, and am the only brown dude in the mix. Even though im usually the one calling the shots. No place like CA, specially SoCal....

You should research Santa Fe again - have you ever lived there? Visiting and living are two completely different things - I hate it here. Homelessness is rampant, you can’t go into any store without navigating the beggars and they are in your face on every street corner. You need really deep pockets to afford a decent house. The houses are ugly, the landscape is ugly - dirt, weeds, rocks and cactus. People here are the poor locals or the rich and entitled retirees. Go to Whole Foods and expect to be run over by a grocery cart with rude 80 year olds in Patagonia attire. After visiting the few museums they have there’s nothing to do here. 👎🏼
