Tulsa was a city I had thought about very briefly. About 6 years ago I was learning how to code and then I found out about some coding class that had a San Francisco campus but I talked to somebody from their Facebook page and they said that they have a Tulsa campus and that to study there I can get I think it was like $1,000 per month or something like that to do my studies there and that it would be something I could more easily do because the average rent in Tulsa at the time was like $500 a month or something. To be honest I might be getting the numbers wrong, it was 2018 but looking back at it maybe I should have actually tried that. For all I know maybe I could have succeeded well enough and just come back to where I'm from in Santa Rosa and maybe even run a software company but that might be a bit too ambitious

Yes please do a study of towns (not cities) with homes under $100000. Thanks . You’re doing a great job. Please also do a study with lake towns with affordable homes. 😊

South Louisiana swelters in heat and humidity for most of the year and folks are friendly but clannish too. It’s home for me but it’s not for everyone. Just something to keep in mind as it will affect you on a daily basis.

US News and World Reports list it is a very good school in there list of top ranked schools....it is also big enough to have most of the classes you want, while not being too huge. Wow nice. It’s a city with a small town field. Or more of a small city. I think what’s good about Lafayette Louisiana is that it’s one of the very few places in Louisiana. You can actually move to and enjoy living in.
I keep searching for great towns across America to continue my retirement in but at considerably reduced cost if at all possible. I'm in a town SE of downtown Los Angeles. The politics of this state suck and the govie types have their own agenda which sure the heck doesn't match mine! So... you hit a nail on the head with Tulsa. I've been considering there and the surrounding area as it has a lot to offer. Fayetteville, AK is another great spot but I personally prefer the Bentonville/Centerton area which is ~20 miles to the north. Gotta like Walmart as Bentonville is the center of their operations. Finally, as I'm in CA and have some family here, I've been looking seriously at Kingman, AZ. It's growing like a weed with new housing going in at an alarming rate. It gets hot but I'd rather deal with heat vs. the cold of the winters in the midwest and east. Just my 2 cents... cheers!🙂🙂
I want to credit Muskegon, MI as well. It's very far from Grand Rapids (though in my opinion anything farther than 1 hour and 20 minutes is far for me), but the place is very liveable, the locals are surprisingly (or not if you're midwest) friendly, and you won't get anywhere near as much crime. I'm looking at homes there, so many of them are going for less than $100,000 and like Davenport is by the water!!! Got a nice beach, too!
Wait what?! Springfield Missouri made a list for something good? Seriously did not expect that. I’ve lived here a few years but in the area more than 40 years. I do love it here. You just have to know where to avoid. Those super cheap houses that bring down the average… you don’t want to live there.
I’ve always lived on the West Coast, but I’ve traveled extensively. I’ve seen almost every state and you couldn’t pay me enough to live on the east side of the Rockies anywhere. The weather sucks everywhere. I like a temperate climate tell me something about temperate climate places to live. L O L.
Agreed. I'm a western girl!!!! and weather is close to #1 for me, hence my living in the great state of Arizona. Thinking of leaving here makes my heart hurt, but the prices, and greed against the tourists...and the summers....*sigh* Just for fun I am looking at other states' real estate and I have to say, some Tulsa properties are reasonably priced and nice. But the humidity might do me in!!!
@@jessstone7486 I am from AZ as well. I have lived in MI for about a year and I was unhappy. I don’t think I can ever live somewhere else where this is no mountains, pines, and deserts. I love the geography too much in the western states.

I am very biased, but I just heard Madison, WI got named by a national pole to be the second safest pedestrian city in the the US! Video idea for the future Briggs, I know you already love our city, just one more thing to make our city better than ever. Our real estate and rental prices are not great. But like you say, you cant have everything!
Springfield Missouri is not cheap anymore since Amazon has come to town rent has skyrocketed food prices are through the roof not to mention the crime here is terrible
Amazon and Starbucks are the viral contagions that blight affordable cities/ Wherever there is income disparity, corporate hegemony and the stress of budgeting, there is the occurrence of crimes and felonies/
Hey Briggs. I’m new to your channel but already watched many of your videos. My question is this, what about the cost of renting in the areas you are showcasing? Not everyone I’m sure wants to buy a house, at least not away and maybe more mature people would prefer to rent so the responsibilities of maintenance and upkeep. Is that something you think people might be interested in? Really enjoying your content btw. 🦋
Bears-Packers. This one is strong enough to divide families quicker than politics does! Of the cities shown, Huntsville would be my personal choice. I've been to 5 or 6 of these places (including Huntsville). The only attraction Davenport would have for me is proximity to Chicago so I can catch a Bears game more often, but avoid most of the stupid going on there. I've lived in the South too long though, and I'm not a fan of spending months freezing my cajones off. Huntsville makes the most sense to me personally. Fayetteville, AR would be my next choice. Good video as always!
The average age in Fayetteville is so low because 30,000 College kids at University of Arkansas - out of a total population of 96,000 - lowers the average significantly!!
Yeah, kind of like my small hometown of 6,000 people where the average age is 25 years old - because of the local prison that has 3,000 inmates! Most people here are actually gray-headed.
I grew up in Chicago and my boxing coach Arnie Winters (in 1988-89) got a try out with Bears and Packers back in the day before NFL. He showed me old typed letter from Green Bay signed by Vince Lombardi. He sparred with Joe Louis during WW2 when in Air Force stationed in TX. He didn’t make the team with Bears or Packers but he was a big guy, heavyweight boxer. Never married. Passed away in 2001.
I own land in Colorado (and yes, the land I bought was DIRT CHEAP) but the cost to build a house has me deeply considering selling my land and buying a house elsewhere…plus the owners in the area are almost constantly posting about out of state visitors stealing stuff. My biggest concern is living somewhere that actually experiences all four seasons.
So is Giants and Eagles. I think you could say that any game between NFC East teams is a huge rivalry whether its Dallas, New York, Washington, or Philadelphia.
Ya had to rat out Davenport. Thanks a lot. LOL, there was a time when I answered the phone, "Rock Island Moline Davenport Bettendorf" Uhh, is this a business? "No." Then what is this? "This is Rock Island Moline Davenport Bettendorf." Click.
Your title slide pictures Lanterman Mill at Millcreek Metroparks in Youngstown OH. But you didn’t mention it. That beautiful 20 mile long park and Youngstown State University are what make it so high on the livability score. Just FYI.

Wait what?! Springfield Missouri made a list for something good? Seriously did not expect that. I’ve lived here a few years but in the area more than 40 years. I do love it here. You just have to know where to avoid. Those super cheap houses that bring down the average… you don’t want to live there.
A springfield of all places.
Guess I need to check out Youngstown...because 2 things I'm always looking for are chili dogs and lawyers
Thanks for the video 👍
GREAT SHARE!!!!
I’ve always lived on the West Coast, but I’ve traveled extensively. I’ve seen almost every state and you couldn’t pay me enough to live on the east side of the Rockies anywhere. The weather sucks everywhere. I like a temperate climate tell me something about temperate climate places to live. L O L.
I would never live West of the Rockies. So great we both know where we prefer to be! ❤
Damn. None of them in the west. I don’t think I can ever leave the Wild West.
Agreed. I'm a western girl!!!! and weather is close to #1 for me, hence my living in the great state of Arizona. Thinking of leaving here makes my heart hurt, but the prices, and greed against the tourists...and the summers....*sigh*
Just for fun I am looking at other states' real estate and I have to say, some Tulsa properties are reasonably priced and nice. But the humidity might do me in!!!
@@jessstone7486 I am from AZ as well. I have lived in MI for about a year and I was unhappy. I don’t think I can ever live somewhere else where this is no mountains, pines, and deserts. I love the geography too much in the western states.
@@leogootee9684 Understand! not only the geography but the weather. But - here's my big one - I'm interested in finding quality people; it may be simply a big city vs small town issue. But, it's a tough one!
I have lived in Salt Lake City since 2008. In summer I would go to MT ID, in winter I snowbird in AZ NM. It’s best way to live as far I can think, besides sea sailing. I made a good investment to buy a house here around 250k in 2008, now worth 600k.
@@waysfu You know, there's something to what you say. I've wondered if I could do two homes, but it's a lot of work. Still, its intriguing to think about :)
You failed to mention one of the main reasons I moved to the Rio Grande Valley. The weather is comparable to most parts of Florida in the winter. 😁
The Quad cities would not be a place would want to move to! Worst of Iowa, combined with Illinois. Great video Briggs!
Just one of the benefits of an Amazon center in your town. 🤮
Towns on this list I've been to, Youngstown, Springfield, Layfette, Fayetteville, Huntsville, Brownsville, and I live in a suburb of Tulsa.
I love Youngstown
I didn't know about Shreveport, thanks Briggs.
Awesome 🎉
Thanks 🤗
Chicago Bears & Green
Bay Packers
Out of all the places you named the only one i would live in is Spartenburg SC
I’ve lived there for years
You would live in Huntsville in a second if you spent time there
@@kurtheidelbach I might have to check it out. I’ve never been there
@@kurtheidelbach been there and i would never live there
@@wolfpacva Different strokes for different folks. I have lived all over the World and is the best place by miles.
There used to be a BBQ place in Woodinville, WA that had a sign that said, "We test our sauce on animals."
A lot of the Youngstown suburbs are nice
I own land in Colorado (and yes, the land I bought was DIRT CHEAP) but the cost to build a house has me deeply considering selling my land and buying a house elsewhere…plus the owners in the area are almost constantly posting about out of state visitors stealing stuff. My biggest concern is living somewhere that actually experiences all four seasons.
Redskins/Cowboys is a big one. However, the more important rivalry is Alabama/Auburn. RTR
So is Giants and Eagles. I think you could say that any game between NFC East teams is a huge rivalry whether its Dallas, New York, Washington, or Philadelphia.
Packers/Bears.
Should be East Moline, not Bettendorf. A real og knows we like to make Bettendorf feel like the unwanted stepchild😂
I was raised in Spartanburg, SC and GTFO as soon as I could.
Greatest football rivalry?
Eagles vs Cowboys
Go Birds!!!
Great video about where I can possibly relocate to
Housing is getting ridiculous, A decent 2BR apartment runs for $3000 with parking here in Montgomery County, MD.
Yep. Maryland is too expensive for most people.
It’s beyond ridiculously crazy
Your title slide pictures Lanterman Mill at Millcreek Metroparks in Youngstown OH. But you didn’t mention it. That beautiful 20 mile long park and Youngstown State University are what make it so high on the livability score. Just FYI.
