I really hope this finds you, I've struggled with this myself. I powerlifted for a good 7 years before 2018. My GF broke up with me and went into a depression and just stopped caring. Lost my job in 2019 but found another one 3 months later which was taken away by Covid. Sat around the house all day. noticed how fat I was getting, it was bad. Ended up starting a business focusing on health. It's an organic restaurant so I can get whatever I need food wise. Started Lifting 2022 end of January and went from 381 to 340 (checked March 24th). I want to get to 14-15% BF by October this year.
    Things I noticed:
My muscles have almost completely gained back their original size like I was doing years ago
I can run even at this weight
I take Muay Thai and I'm able to keep up for the hour.
I stalled in weight loss but I look bigger for the past 2 weeks at 2200cal/day so I assume I'm down in fat
    Overall
    7 year lifter
3 year hiatus from gym (went over 400lbs)
1 year being more active daily
3 months at the gym (down to 340)
    2 weeks stuck at 340
goal to get to 14-15% BF but need help

Most people don’t understand that the extra weight didn’t happen overnight so they shouldn’t expect it to come off overnight either

Dave: Some really down to earth advice Dave! I'm sure you've taken some business away from nutritionists by telling soon to be dieters to start off making healthy choices, lol.

Are you saying that it should be easy to get to 14%-15% bodyfat as long as we're making healthy choices HALF of the time? What if that's not the case?

This dude literally just described me to a T. I was 368.4 lbs did all the stupid shit he said don't do and lost 125lbs in 8 months and now I'm at 243 lbs eating a little less than 2000 calories per day and doing an hour of cardio 7 days per week but I'm stuck at this weight. I'm 6'6" tall and still around 18ish percent body fat. I don't know what the hell to do now that I've put myself in this position. I've tried refeeding for 2-3 weeks at a time multiple times and gain a considerable amount of weight but then stop losing again once I get to around 245 ish. I don't know what the hell to do.

You could try increasing your food intake by 100 calories a day per week (so week 1 2100, week 2 2200, week 3 2300, all the way up). Weigh in once a week and if you went up in weight spend the next week at -100 again and start moving up again the following week. This should raise your resting metabolism and train your body to be 243 lb at a higher caloric intake. Then, you can cut calories again to get another dip, or just start fresh with this videos method. It's called adaptive thermogenesis if you want to give it a Google.

wow Dave just mirrored my thought process. Exactly the type of advice i gave a friend who wanted to loose weight. Start of by eating as many small to medium sized healthy meals as you can while monitoring your weight. You will gain weight but when your weight stabilizes remove one meal, if you were eating 5 meals a day go to 4. The weight should start going down. When the weight plateaus again, remove another meal. Essentially you can do this until you are only eating one meal a day (OMAD). There are thousands of people on the OMAD diet and we know it works, but for most people sufficient weight loss will occur before they reach this level.
