Mickey Redmond.... An absolute legend. We've been lucky to be able to have him on our broadcast for all of these years. It's hard to imagine the games being as fun without him. I hope we have him on the broadcast for man more years. You're the best Mickey!
the only reason im not worried about who has to eventually replace this man is because Ozzy has already been groomed for that day, thats why ozzy goes on alot of the road trips that Mickey ops out of, its going to be very hard to replace this man but we have a man whos just as insightful in the wings and already on the broadcasts so it wont be as strange when mickey either ops to retire or they decide to have 3 up in the booth. Cheers to you Mickey and cheers to many many more years calling the best team in the league, the Detroit Red Wings.
I dont live in Detroit but have been a fan of the Wings since the early 90s. When he and Ken had that bobblehead come out a few years ago I was upset that you could only get one at the game. Then they said it was so popular that you could get one at the store at LCA and I called all morning and finally got through to buy one. I was so excited and very proud to have it in the collection.
Inaugural season for the Phoenix Coyotes. I had some crappy obstructed view seats for the Red Wings/Coyotes game. To get to my seats I assume I was on the press elevator.... I met him on the elevator along with Darren Pang. I was minding my own business and wearing a Michigan Hockey Sweatshirt and I was with a 6 ft Dutch Blonde from Red Deer Alberta. Panger and Redmond I assume knew what they were doing and went into a commentary to get my attention. I immediately recognized Mickey and popped up from my slouch and leaning over on the rail in the elevator. I was so incredibly thrilled to meet him. I was like a kid in a candy store..... We shook hands and I can tell you. I had just gotten out of the Marines. I was in Shape at a 6 ft 2 in .. I can tell you his hands we're absolutely monsters. His fingers were thick as sausages and strong as hell. Funny thing....I was in such awe...I didn't even realize it was Darren Pang until after I walked out and processed the encounter.
Sitting around talking with Mick is like a Seinfeld episode. You never know where the conversation is going to go, but, it’s always interesting. And typically funny. Glad you stuck around Detroit.
I wish this had been 10x longer. I suspect Mickey's thoughts run deep on a lot of subjects. I'm super grateful he still loves the game and keeps coming back for another season.
Watching NHL Center Ice, you will soon realize the Red Wings have the absolute best broadcast of all the teams. There are other good ones, but the Wings are tops.
Some of my favorite "Mickeyisms": "This ain't no place for a nervous person", or "Look out, an Alberta Haymaker!" Thanks for all the great memories Mickey! Go Wings!
The day he retires will break my heart. I’ll be so happy for him but at the same time it will be difficult closing the door on the experience I grew up with. He’s family to all of us despite most of us never meeting. We all grew up with Mickey and it won’t be the same. He certainly deserves all the good that comes his way. His jokes have brought a smile to my face more times than I can count. Detroit loves you Mick!
Mickey is a true legend. This should have been much longer. Why drive out there and make it a thing for a video no longer than ten minutes? Also that audio cut at 5:30 made no sense to the context of the question.
The Mickey-isms just come out. Like here, when he talks about interviewing Yzerman - "and when we were done - three minutes and a half later" 😄 The Mick! The Best!!
got a nhl package just to root with mickey and not once did i get to enjoy his commentary and got screwed so no more nhl packages for this guy every stinking game was broadcast thru the opposing team and they sucked 🤡💩🤷♂️👎really did miss him and ken since moving down here to Florida yeah i root for the bolts but my passion will always be with the redwings! 🤗👍

I met Mickey as a young teenager in Flint at training camp. He had 4 hot dogs lol. He was very kind and put them down to sign an autograph for me.
Mick is legendary, the voice of the Wings, and adds so much to every Wings broadcast. We love you Mick!

Always at edge of my seat waiting for a funny story from way back when. Those stories are classic.

Mickey Redwing❤
The day Mickey retires will feel the same as when all the great icons retired. Yzerman, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterburg, and many many more.
I love you Micky!! Your very important to all of us

“Holy Jumpin’”
@@chevelle1 or “He just hit ‘em with a B.C. 2-Hander”, referring to a crosscheck or slash. Like swinging an ax at a redwood tree in British Columbia.
This was a longtime coming!
I would love more than anything to sit down with Mickey and just listen to his stories. What a legend, what a great storyteller.

Such a legend. I'm lucky to have shared time on this planet with Mick.
Mickey played in one game for Canada in the 1972 super series vs the Soviets.
Mickey is a national (international?) treasure
Thank you Mickey. Kind to all and one of a kind.
Mick is the BEST! The person I’d most want to have a “ginger ale” with.
We Love Mickey ❤
Love Mick!!!
I really wish Ken and Mick would be asked to do the EA hockey games!
Really freaking hope the wings can retain playoff competent play before Mick retires.
❤ Mickey! God bless him forever!
I remember Mickey as a 50 goal scorer? How is it he has been an announcer (1 of the best) for 43 years already. Wishing for many more!
Mick has got to be one of the greatest advocates ever for the game of hockey.
An absolute legend!

Absolutely. Way too short. It’s almost insulting to a man who has so many stories that fans would love to hear.
What a treasure.
national treasure
Can u please make the interview longer I love them just 2 short
The empty cup was funny
This felt cut off. Should’ve been much longer.
Coffee with Carley sounds nice, but nothing beats tea with Miss McGill.
Mickey has a forever redwings legend and it’s a blessing having this man in the booth
Carley is too pretty not fair

Retire Mick's jersey!
Micks style of living is gigachad.
surprised Bowman was the #1 interview choice.
Love you Mickey. They need to retire your jersey with it looking like a flanel pattern on the jersey
Hey Mickey .I .met you a couple years before covid. I was one of the guys who took the pine tree out of you backyard
All I did was shake your hand. I hear your voice and turned and shook your hand and went back to work
