Yes, it is true, but this one is the only song from the album to have that funky groovy dancy vibe, everything else sounds unique off course, but this particular song sticks out from the most with it’s distinctive disco/funk style!
Alan was only the engeneer and gave his name, but the sound is greating by the mastermind of Eric Woolfson and the musician cor around him like David Paton and Ian Bairnson (both Pilot) and other musicians.
Alan Parsons Project/The Fall Of The House Of Usher from the 1976 album Tales Of Mystery And Imagination : Edgar Alan Poe. You will both love this epic album track!
Phenomenal piece of work, the kind you wake up to in the middle of the night but Lenny’s voice and Alan and the crew are powerful. My own interpretation is it’s a song about not allowing contentment to swallow you up
Alan Parsons Project has always blown my mind! Orchestra \ choir\ synthesizer\ vocals I’d my Lenny!!! And yes I still want to drink his bath water!! He is phenomenal!!
Alan Parsons Project Tales of mystery and imagination. (The whole album) mostly based on Edgar Allan Poe's stories. The Mysterious System of Dr. Tarr and Professor Feather. Wolfson wrote most of the actual music and lyrics, Parsons had a few ideas and some musical "licks" and of course mixed the crap out of every album. Ammonia Avenue is another electronic Parsons piece
No one seems to mention the first track on "Tales of Mystery & Imagination" called "A Dream Within A Dream" because it's their best instrumental song ever.
Hey Thanks for the SHOUT Out!! :-) I agree with Ned Rini---I got this album for my Birthday when it came out. Great reaction! Dig deeper with Alan Parsons Project....>Try the song Breakdown....You will love it! Peace.
Another concept album by them. It's funny but I've had their version of Poe's The Raven running through my mind all afternoon, and thought I really needed to hear some Parsons....and here you are !
Check out Don't Answer Me, Damned If I Do, Damned If I Dont, But I Love You, I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You, and Eye In The Sky by The Alan Parsons Project.
Won derful song and reaction. Its the same i felt the first time headed this awesome i n the 1980 on the radio. Its was an explotion of snew sounds!!!!
"Eye in the sky" is a classic, "Oh life, there must be more", a personification of an old ship about to be scuttled, sung by David Pack is a masterpiece, and "Old and wise", sung by Zombies front man Colin Blunstone, is absolutely hauntingly beautiful.
Loved the reaction. Nick and Lex, you always put a smile on my face. A lot of Alan Parsons Project is listen with headphones/instrumental stuff. When they hit a pop groove, it's interesting. Games People Play is an example. Another would be Out of the Blue from The Time Machine album. You would certainly enjoy it.
This is a seriously underrated album, especially in the context of “concept “ albums. Listening to it from beginning to end is a pure joy. One of the first albums my Dad and I bonded to musically, especially “Time”. It became his favorite all-time song. Great memories! Thanks so much for reacting to APP!!
I would love you to react to some more Genesis. Firth of Fifth is one of their best songs from the alumni Selling England by the Pound. Peter Gabriel on Vocals and Phil Collins on Drums. Great guitar solo by Steve Hackett.
I was in the auditorium tech crew in high school, and all of us sound techs loved the APP. We would blast this album and Pyramid and I Robot on the auditorium sound system after school when we were working
Thank you! When this song came out I was adjusting to the people that eventually became my stepmom and stepbrother. Awesome people, but at that point I wasn't so sure. When I hear songs from those years I always feel nostalgic in the best kind of way. Music was (and is) my safe space.
I got to see The Alan Parsons Project in Cleveland on a warm summer evening at a venue called Nautica. I hope to see him again when this pandemic is over. Another great song to give a listen to is I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You.
This was the encore song when we just saw them live. Their hits are on my channel but if you haven't heard Sirius along with Eye in the Sky live, you need to. Some old folks like us were up and jamming, old bones and all. Was a great night
I love doing covers, too. At open mics. I do covers of all sorts of 50s-70s oldies, and a couple of songs I've written. I play electric guitar and sing. My life wouldn't be the same without the music.
I have always loved this song another song from them I know you would enjoy is To One In Paradise it is absolutely heavenly by the way great chair dancing👍🏽👍🏽
Great to hear your reaction to this song. This song was a more mainstream-sounding hit from APP. I remember hearing this a lot on the radio growing up along with Eye in the Sky. They were so versatile and ahead of their time.
This album certainly is one of my Alan Parsons favourites! By that time the prog elements were mostly gone, but who cares with songs like this? It's a flawless album IMHO.
I love seeing others reactions to listening and discovering new music selections. I bought the Turn Of A Friendly Card album and put it to cassette tape, for my first long ride to another state. Along with music like Genesis, 1978, Then There Were Three album, ( hints of Tales of Mystery and Imagination),The Lady Lies, Follow You, Follow Me, and others.
Forgot - Genesis- A Trick Of The Tail album 1976, Los Endos (Instrumental has an A.P.P. sound to it), Entangled, Another album hinting of Mystery and Imagination
Thanks so much for getting to this. I knew you would love it. Being that Nick is so into Allan Holdsworth who spent some time recording and touring with Level 42, I would love if you would react to these funk/jazz/pop legends. I would start with Starchild( another happy funky bopper) or Love Games, but their whole catalog is amazing. Plenty of Radio hits as well. Cheers!
Just for your information Alan Parsons first met Pink Floyd when they were all together at Abbey Road with the Beatles, again it all started withe the Beatles!
Check out Sagrada Familia from the Gaudi album. Check out the real thing as well if you ever get the chance. It’s mind blowing inside and out whether you have a faith or none at all. As an album listen the most cohesive is the first ‘Tales of mystery and imagination’ which is based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. That really warrants a full album listen so maybe a live stream opportunity?......
The entire second half of the album (starting with Gold Bug) is a tale of the dangers of gambling and addiction. It is a great musical journey that tells a cautionary tale.
Love APP, Still have all the original vinyl albums I bought in high school. On a completely different track love to hear your reactions to another of my favorite 70s groups Klaatu. The song Hope, or calling occupants, Sub rosa subway. Love your reactions.
Wow this is an oldie. What you say it was 1980? Along the same lines some old Dire Straits is a great group to add to this genre. Songs like "Once Upon a Time In The West" you would really dig.
BTW, I'm sure I'm not the first to tell you that you are missing one of the bands from the Mt. Rushmore of progenitors of prog rock -- along with ELP, Pink Floyd, and Yes -- you need to react to some King Crimson, perhaps to start: "The Court of the Crimson King" "I Talk to the Wind"
@@CaryOn11 Ahhhh, I think I knew that, but forgot how complete it is. Still, probably worth a shot to try one song -- you never know when the policy might change.
@@fewwiggle Yes, unfortunately Fripp doesn't care for reactions. Its a quite a miracle that he's allowed all KC's music (studio recordings) on Yt now (by certain uploaders and directly from his Discipline Global Mobile label).
Hi NicknLex, Since this is eighties day, here are nine songs of various genres from the MTV decade that I have not seen reviewed by any other first reaction channel. Enjoy! Lipps Inc - Funkytown 1980 The Moody Blues - The Voice 1981 Dire Straits - Telegraph Road 1982 A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran 1982 Mike Oldfield - Moonlight Shadow 1983 Dave Edmunds - Slipping Away 1983 Snowy White - Bird of Paradise 1984 Midnight Oil - Beds are Burning 1987 Church - Under the Milky Way 1988
If you care to check it out, the original performance video I always thought was really cool because it has them in the studio during the actual recording of it which at that time was really just starting to be "a thing" and I was a budding young guitar 🎸 player at that time so naturally whenever one of my favorite bands did a "studio performance video" I was all over it!!😆 Now the sound quality of it leaves a lot to be desired given the time period it was in naturally but you guys have already heard it on y'all's "bad boy" headphones so that shouldn't be an issue. Just thought you guys would enjoy seeing them in their element back in the day!!!✌️🎸🤟🎶❤
Lenny Zakatek's vocals are awesome
This whole album is a masterpiece from start to finish
That's a fact!
One of my favorites too! Got it for my 13th Birthday in 1981. Still listening to it in 2021.
Yes, it is true, but this one is the only song from the album to have that funky groovy dancy vibe, everything else sounds unique off course, but this particular song sticks out from the most with it’s distinctive disco/funk style!
I know I am pretty randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to stream new series online?
@Kane Karter Flixportal :)
Did you know that Alan Parsons was the engineer for 2 of the greatest albums in history? The Beatles Abbey road and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon
Alan also worked on the Let It Be album. He was a tape operator during the sessions.
AMBROSIA was another one of his productions as well.
I forgot that!!
I didn't know he did Ambrosia. I love their first album.
Alan was only the engeneer and gave his name, but the sound is greating by the mastermind of Eric Woolfson and the musician cor around him like David Paton and Ian Bairnson (both Pilot) and other musicians.
Just dive into the whole album Tales and Mystery of Imagination of Edgar Allen Poe. Enjoy your journeys
My favorite
Absolutely: yes!
Lenny Zakatek, the singer here is really under rated.
Great reaction to a Super song !
Alan Parsons Project/The Fall Of The House Of Usher from the 1976 album Tales Of Mystery And Imagination : Edgar Alan Poe.
You will both love this epic album track!
APP is just wonderful
I recommend playing Lexi the entire Turn of a Friendly Card suite. Such a beautiful piece of music.
Phenomenal piece of work, the kind you wake up to in the middle of the night but Lenny’s voice and Alan and the crew are powerful. My own interpretation is it’s a song about not allowing contentment to swallow you up
One of my favorite songs from that era. Remember when it came out. 🎸🎸
Nick lol you throughly enjoyed that flashback. Luv you knew it even before you spoke English, MUSIC
one of my favorite things in this song is the sequencer plays all the way through from start to finish.
Takes me right back to the winter of ‘80-81.
I second La Sagrada Familia and also Psychobabble and Old and Wise off the same album.
The Forrest sounds at 6.37 remind me of my home on a summer or fall night..... creatures everywhere in the dark !
Alan Parsons Project has always blown my mind! Orchestra \ choir\ synthesizer\ vocals I’d my Lenny!!! And yes I still want to drink his bath water!! He is phenomenal!!
I love the drums on most APP tracks. I love how you can hear the hi hat so distinctly.
"The Gold Bug" is a great instrumental on this album. Thanks for more APP!
Good choice. Very jazzy instrumental
As Mark Mullins says, Old and Wise sung by Colin Blunstone....... absolute quality with a capitol Q.
Alan Parsons Project
Tales of mystery and imagination.
Dr. Tarr and Professor Feather hits hard
No one seems to mention the first track on "Tales of Mystery & Imagination" called "A Dream Within A Dream" because it's their best instrumental song ever.
The Turn of a Friendly Card is one of my Favorite albums of all time.
Hey Thanks for the SHOUT Out!! :-) I agree with Ned Rini---I got this album for my Birthday when it came out. Great reaction! Dig deeper with Alan Parsons Project....>Try the song Breakdown....You will love it! Peace.
check out Ambrosia ..... how much I feel
"Live and Die in LA" or "Nice Nice Very Nice"
Another concept album by them. It's funny but I've had their version of Poe's The Raven running through my mind all afternoon, and thought I really needed to hear some Parsons....and here you are !
Fun reaction! Try out 'The System of Dr Tarr and Professor Fether' from Tales of Mystery and Imagination.
Hi NickNLex , I’ve seen Alan Parsons Project, 3 times in Concert, absolutely awesome 👏

Hey Nick N Lex. APP is such a great band. This is a great song. Takes me back to my high school days. Great reaction. Keep up the good work.
Dr. tarr and Professor Feather!!!! Forevermore!!!
You totally need to listen to their first album, Tales of Mystery and Imagination Edgar Alan Poe
My FAVORITE song and album of theirs
ALAN PARSONS ES BESTIAL ABRAZO DESDE ARGENTINA

Alan Parsons is genius.
Lenny is awesome on this track.. On loop constantly.... The man is a master...
Great reaction!!
Fantastic album start to finish!
Classic album. A hifi reference album in its day.
That production and soundscape are pure fire, just makes you groove
What a song! 👌🏻

70´s and 80´s so creative Times for Music
i miss it
I hope you do reactions to ELO, Electric Light Orchestra.
Alan Parsons is just to good have loved his stuff from the begining, you may want totry Prime Time next!
The guitar solo is magic
I got to see The Alan Parsons Project in Cleveland on a warm summer evening at a venue called Nautica. I hope to see him again when this pandemic is over.
Another great song to give a listen to is I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You.
His lyrics are so impactful about human emotions and life’s journey
APP - BREAKDOWN, Time, Old and Wise
This song to me is the best one of the Alan Parsons Project. So upbeat and unique!
Forgot about this one for a minute till it started.
Games people play in the middle of the night!! Awesome!
I love this band. I haven't heard this in years. ❤️ Such a good song.
The best.....The Alan Parsons Project.....
Alan is still going strong. He is on Facebook. If you two ever do anymore Alan Parsons like you did with Time, could you react to Psychobabble.
Thanks for playing the long version. The dual guitar work is incredible.
Love the music and vocals to this one. Liked it when it was released and love it even more now!👍🏻❤️☮️🎤
Fun fact. Alan Parsons is the engineer and producer of Floyd’s “Dark Side”
This was the encore song when we just saw them live. Their hits are on my channel but if you haven't heard Sirius along with Eye in the Sky live, you need to. Some old folks like us were up and jamming, old bones and all. Was a great night

Una Obra Maestra esta canción....

This album certainly is one of my Alan Parsons favourites! By that time the prog elements were mostly gone, but who cares with songs like this?
It's a flawless album IMHO.
a very nice concept album from Alan Parsons .... awesome reaction as always guys ... :)
Nick mentioned the AP album ‘Pyramid’. Pyromania off that album is a fun goofy tune making fun of the pyromania of the 70s. 🙂
Thanks for the starship into rock history. Check out Tales of mystery and imagination. Great album
The whole album is great, but Turn of a friendly card is my favourite.
Love the song and love watching the two of you react to this wonderful music from my youth.
I love seeing others reactions to listening and discovering new music selections. I bought the Turn Of A Friendly Card album and put it to cassette tape, for my first long ride to another state. Mr. Time. From the 1993 release Turn It Up..Awesome vocal from .Jacqui Copland. The video is awesome too.

I would recommend reacting to - You Don’t Believe next as it has this same melodic groove vibe to it as this one, so she should definitely like it!
I always thought of Alan Parsons as the "Pop Pink Floyd". And that is meant as a compliment.
Una joya musical ❤
Whoa -- whoa -- whoa -- slow down -- there are only so many songs in this universe..... ;-)
Thanks Ken Pratte, most people don't know that Alan Parsons' fingerprints are on the great albums of rock mega-stars.
Love APP, Still have all the original vinyl albums I bought in high school. On a completely different track love to hear your reactions to another of my favorite 70s groups Klaatu. The song Hope, or calling occupants, Sub rosa subway. Love your reactions.
amazing LIVE band he has assembled. Saw them just before we were not allowed to go to concerts
Oh the games people play huh?
I loved!!

Upbeat and happy music but heartbreaking, anguished story.

Another solo you would like is the one from Kid Charlemagne.

Back asking for Santana's "Song of the Wind" from Caravanserai.
