It’s No Joke Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. -Revelation 20:14 People are selective when it comes to the subject of God and the afterlife. They like the idea of a God who is loving, completely accepting, and tolerant. People can go along with a deity like that. But they don’t like the notion of a God who is also just. And they reject the idea that God would send some people to Hell, or at least a lot of people they know. They would like to think that certain people will be in Hell for the horrible crimes they’ve committed. But they don’t expect themselves or family and friends to end up there. Yet Hell is a real place for real people. And according to the Bible, Hell is a miserable place of torment and separation from God that lasts for eternity. As Timothy Keller pointed out in The Reason for God, “In our culture, divine judgment is one of Christianity’s most offensive doctrines. When you bring up this topic, people get upset. Maybe one reason is widespread misinformation about Hell. It certainly is not a party place. And it is absolutely not a joke. If it were, Jesus would never have talked about it in the way that He did. Most of the biblical teaching on Hell comes from Jesus Himself. He spoke about it more than anyone else in the Bible. And He spoke about it in a very specific way. More than half of the parables Jesus told relate to God’s eternal judgment of sinners. We cannot pick and choose things in the Bible that personally appeal to us and then throw the others aside. We can imagine, as John Lennon famously sang, that Heaven and Hell don’t exist. But that won’t change the fact that they are real. The Bible tells us there are two deaths: one is physical and the other is spiritual. In Revelation 20:14 we read, “Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death” The next chapter also mentions the second death: “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars-their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death” (21:8) The second death this is speaking of is Hell. If you are born once, you will die twice. You are born physically, and you will die physically. And then you will face the second death and eternal separation from God. But if you are born twice, you will die once. You are born physically, and you are born again spiritually when you put your faith in Christ. You will face only the first death (unless, of course, the Rapture happens in your lifetime) Scripture tells us that the second death is what we should fear. God has given us a free will, so where we spend eternity is really our choice. Not everyone will be saved in the end-only those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ.

@Elijah Rey Bautista idk, theres plenty of outstanding paintings done with sticks and fingers, old used brushes, or stuff that only vaguely resembles a brush. But I generally just meant when people ask about an experienced artist's tablet, or their fine-liner, or brush, that it really doesn't matter. I dont think Jung Gi's quality would diminish if he was to draw with a 1 dollar fine-liner in a 1 dollar sketchbook. His skill is what creates the quality, not the material.

First of all rest in piece Master, you were such a great inspiration for me. I would like to share my point of view about this whole "pen" discussion. The city I live in, there is no big art stores where you can find different materials. Until I saw Kim Jung Gi's work I didn't know something like a brush pen ever existed and in my opinion I see nothing wrong with being curious about something new. So If I had ever stumbled upon a such pen I wouldn't know what to do with it. Even Pentel didn't know that a brush pen could be used as a drawing tool as Master explained in this video, they were designed as calligraphy pen. Also as you can see he puts out of his bag a kind of correction tool. Did you notice? I did a bit of research and found out that most artists use such tools for their drawings. When I dug deeper I found that there are white inks existed and they are better than those white roller pens which I mostly use for highlighting in watercolor and graphite drawings. Do you see where I am getting at? I have no option to find what tool work for my drawings what does not, no budget to test all different things, and no time. So I highly depend on the art works I see online that other people do and how they do it (especially cheap materials). The goal is not to copy what other did or "if i get this pen I can be like him". I totally understand Master's frustration about the situation but I like mix media, mix and match different supplies. So I would like to know what pen or what paint, what tool is used. So I can do my research and if necessary buy it "online" and try it out myself. As a conclusion, I am really grateful for him sharing his knowledge about the tools and how he used. I learned a lot...

16:26 “so for longevity, you better use ink or meok” For anyone else curious, I had to look up meok, and from what I found it looks like it’s Korean for inkstick. Seems to be the same as the kind you rub on a wetted stone and pick up with a brush. I wonder what sort of variations came out of different regions. Should be an interesting research hole to dive into!
As if his skill wasn’t enough to cause a huge relatability gap between me and Gi the language barrier made him feel even more mysteriously godly in his talent. With that being said, I really appreciate the subtitles. There’s just so much we can learn from this guy.

A good reason to know what he uses is because he has an understanding of using these pens for a long time. His preferences does matter. But we are all here to learn what product is recommended by him. Which I think is fair to ask.
My take on it is that yes, there are definitely times when having the right tools is important, but it's also not like you're going to go out and buy the Pentel Brush Pen and suddenly start drawing so much better or as good as Kim. That's why he hates the question. I also remember a seminar or performance he did where he only used a Bic ballpoint pen, the most generic pen you can get, as a kind of way to prove his point and also stop people from asking that question. Also probably trolling a little bit given his nature lol.
Quite impressed by all the tips he gave in this talk. The last minutes are gold. He seems to have improved to explain his mindset when drawing. Thank you KJG. His new course must be really good compare to his first one.

I love Kim Jung Gi's and his artwork, he always inspires me to draw more and motivates me to learn more from everyday life by observing stuff and asking questions like how I could draw it.
everybody's talking about the art when Gi is honestly just a really funny guy lol. there's no way i could sit here talking about pens for 45 minutes if it wasn't for him.

Un año después de su muerte me aparece de nuevo este vídeo. Sin duda aprendimos y seguimos aprendiendo de ti
Admittingly i started using brush pens bc of him. Dont expect to suddenly be good, punishing but rewarding. Perseverance, its worth it in so many ways! I use this for all my inkwork and use fineliners for stippling/hatching
He hates get asked the same question over and over however doing a full video about his tools isn't really the same thing. He's doing a more in depth answer and not just saying "Pentel pocket brush pen" or "Colour brush pen" over and over.
Just use whatever pen works for you. I know so many top artists that use paper mate; literally the ones that cost pennies... It's the artist that makes the magic not the pen! Cheers & Peace!
From Pennsylvania here..... Kim is my all time favorite artist! He loves ink just line me. I'm not a good drawer but love a nice pen to doodle with. I'm just starting to learn to draw art age 33. I hope one day I can meet you and also own a peice of your art.
Loaded question suggesting a pen can affect your ability, a common misconception since any pen in a practiced hand can produce art. This guy is amazing be cause of his practice, and uses pens he prefers based on that practice. The real answer is practice will give you the senses to choose a pen for yourself.
I was hoping there was just a clip of Kim Jung Gi giving the stink eye for asking that question? Proko mentioned this on the Draftsmen podcast as well :P
Right? I'm looking forward to the day when they release them in a refillable and/or water-proof version. They're so fun to draw with but if you want to add a wash of watercolor, forget about it.
personally, I just use the watercolor first, it makes the drawing really “pop” since the lines you draw are based off of the shadows and colours that you placed in the beginning.
If anyone wants Pentel brush pens and sign pens in New Zealand or Australia, the only place I've found that stocks all of them is 'Bunbougu' in Melbourne, that imports Japanese stationary. I got a bunch of stuff shipped to NZ from there a while ago.
I got a bunch for $4 here in Canada a month ago on Amazon. I go through those things like candy so it was nice to stock up. Make sure you use bottled ink though as those cartridges barely hold any ink and cost a ton. I go through 2 a day easy. Also you don't have to fill up the actual cartridge you can just fill the barrel and screw it closed. Japanese inks work the best.
TY, every time I did a search, I saw that company come up but I wasn’t sure if it was legit... but it always seems to have what I want... so I will risk it now :)
You can use the fact that the pentel brushes are water-based to your advantage. I have some cheap fillable brush pens I filled with different strength ink-washes which I like to combine with the pure ink. And I have a water-only pen which you can use to either blend or to do the same kind of subtle effects Kim Jung Gi achieves here by smudging.. just picking up a tiny bit of ink from one of the black areas and use it to do very very soft smooth shadows.

Just in case if someone wants to buy the brush pen he was using most of the time, buy the normal/default brush size in stead of the thinner one, and it is water-based not oil-based

This reminded be of Beaudoin doing a demo with what looked like a broken chopstick and some ink wrapped in a cloth. He came up with it and a sheet of paper and said : "So now I'm going to do a random line and draw from there." He did a wonderful portrait. In the end, he saw that my dad who was doing the sound was really interested in his work. He said : "You like? You can have it if you want." Then he signed the page and gave it to my dad. So if any collector from Japan with big bucks is interested, I have a Beaudoin original somewhere... just KIDDING it stays here!!!
great mentality to have if you want to never improve, stay stuck with "your artstyle" for your whole life, and only receive compliments and recognition from likeminded "everything is art" people. also the "keep drawing and practicing" thing that everyone says all the time is potentially harmful. it's very important that you practice correctly, with books (on things like perspective, lighting, anatomy etc), reference, guidance etc. don't lie to yourself and follow shitty advice (like I did) and "just draw", wasting years of your life
@@dramawind the advice isn't as literal as you interpreted it With practice comes improvement just keep doing it regardless of your "happy accidents" and results will show

I’m surprised he didn’t banish you to the shadow realm for asking him that question.
To be fair, anytime your are working with the general public who are not professionals in your field you will get asked the same few questions over and over. Even in a retail shop you get the same half dozen questions 100+ times a day.
I think they made this video because people keep asking, so they'd stop.
What's wrong with this question? Absolutely nothing. The elitism behind the answers or non-answers is so silly though.
@@littleripper312any professional would simply answer the question, 1 million times if that's what it takes. Being too high and mighty to answer a simple question makes these "professionals" look like what they are, fools. Before becoming "a professional" all people who pursued fine arts asked this. All. I teach art to teenagers and young adults and some with with different mental or learning spectrums, Kim is not savant. The way he communicate, socialize and with interviewers is very obvious. He is an amazing artist with amazing skills that were acquired with hard work and practice. You can noticed he spend time with disciplined practice to get where he is now. But if you are born twice, you will die once. You are born physically, and you are born again spiritually when you put your faith in Christ. You will face only the first death (unless, of course, the Rapture happens in your lifetime)
Scripture tells us that the second death is what we should fear.
God has given us a free will, so where we spend eternity is really our choice. Not everyone will be saved in the end-only those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ.
Rest in peace, legend.

Lol basketball really 🤣
Yup. It don't work unless you apply yourself. He let the cat out of the bag..
These aren't bad questions to be fair
The only questions that truly matter
He’s an amazing artist, his perspective mastery is insane

-Revelation 20:14
People are selective when it comes to the subject of God and the afterlife.

For anyone else curious, I had to look up meok, and from what I found it looks like it’s Korean for inkstick. Seems to be the same as the kind you rub on a wetted stone and pick up with a brush.

R.I.P Kim Jung Gi ! Greatest Illustrator Ever!
A good reason to know what he uses is because he has an understanding of using these pens for a long time. His preferences does matter. But we are all here to learn what product is recommended by him. Which I think is fair to ask.
The greatest question! 😅
I want to know how they convinced him to do this!
Thank you for making it Kim :)))
Thank you :)
The last advice was the best ! Thank you
Thank you for watching!
Quite impressed by all the tips he gave in this talk. The last minutes are gold. He seems to have improved to explain his mindset when drawing. Thank you KJG. His new course must be really good compare to his first one.
It’s No Joke
Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death.
-Revelation 20:14
People are selective when it comes to the subject of God and the afterlife.
This lake of fire is the second death”
The next chapter also mentions the second death: “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars-their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death” (21:8)
The second death this is speaking of is Hell.

what a lovely sense of humour
Watching Kim Jung Gi talk about drawing pens is the most calming thing ever.
One of the greatest 😢xx
I love Kim Jung Gi's and his artwork, he always inspires me to draw more and motivates me to learn more from everyday life by observing stuff and asking questions like how I could draw it.
Thank you so much for this, I have learned a lot and now I can draw more confidently!
Thank you for watching :)

everybody's talking about the art when Gi is honestly just a really funny guy lol.
there's no way i could sit here talking about pens for 45 minutes if it wasn't for him.
It is sad when the world lose so valuable living talent. They have so much to teach.... RIP

doesn't he hate this question?
regardless, i'm grateful to listen to him talk about any aspect of drawing. thank you!
yes, he hates it, but after doing this video less people will aks that question
He hates get asked the same question over and over however doing a full video about his tools isn't really the same thing. He's doing a more in depth answer and not just saying "Pentel pocket brush pen" or "Colour brush pen" over and over.
the pen at 27:00 is the Pentel tradio pulaman pen, for anyone wondering
Just use whatever pen works for you. I know so many top artists that use paper mate; literally the ones that cost pennies... It's the artist that makes the magic not the pen! Cheers & Peace!
From Pennsylvania here..... Kim is my all time favorite artist! He loves ink just line me. I'm not a good drawer but love a nice pen to doodle with. I'm just starting to learn to draw art age 33. I hope one day I can meet you and also own a peice of your art.
So Helpful
haha i still remember this question and his face 😂
Dropped some well-need reminder of knowledge at the end!
I'm afraid he will be asked this question even on his death bed.
"Listen the pen I use is...." (×_×)
"Nooooooooooooooo"
XD Noice one. :3
He is happy, with this video his sponsor Pentel had tripled the sales. :)
Loaded question suggesting a pen can affect your ability, a common misconception since any pen in a practiced hand can produce art. This guy is amazing be cause of his practice, and uses pens he prefers based on that practice. The real answer is practice will give you the senses to choose a pen for yourself.
"Like snow slowly stacking on roof until it collapses" Thanks for curing my depression and give me the motivation I needed for the New year master Kim
Thanks subtitles
I was hoping there was just a clip of Kim Jung Gi giving the stink eye for asking that question? Proko mentioned this on the Draftsmen podcast as well :P
do you remember which episode of the Draftsmen podcast it was?
I actually found the thin pentel brush pens where I live, they are a game changer

Yes the pentel micro brush pen is available here in USA.. great pen..
Golden words at the end of the video

If anyone wants Pentel brush pens and sign pens in New Zealand or Australia, the only place I've found that stocks all of them is 'Bunbougu' in Melbourne, that imports Japanese stationary. I got a bunch of stuff shipped to NZ from there a while ago.
This is an excellent shop
I got a bunch for $4 here in Canada a month ago on Amazon. I go through those things like candy so it was nice to stock up. Make sure you use bottled ink though as those cartridges barely hold any ink and cost a ton. I go through 2 a day easy. Also you don't have to fill up the actual cartridge you can just fill the barrel and screw it closed. Japanese inks work the best.
There's also the book shop Kinokunya too which is in Sydney and Melbourne I think
TY, every time I did a search, I saw that company come up but I wasn’t sure if it was legit... but it always seems to have what I want... so I will risk it now :)
What a legend. Gone too soon. RIP (rest in pens).
Bic pen all the way baby!
42:04 the most relatable moment 😂
SAME hahaha literally LOLed 😂 OTL
You can use the fact that the pentel brushes are water-based to your advantage. I have some cheap fillable brush pens I filled with different strength ink-washes which I like to combine with the pure ink. And I have a water-only pen which you can use to either blend or to do the same kind of subtle effects Kim Jung Gi achieves here by smudging.. just picking up a tiny bit of ink from one of the black areas and use it to do very very soft smooth shadows.

My main mans got a callus the size of a baseball. Thats dedication to his art.
Yo that lamp behind makes him look like a saint
Adore that he uses the micron writing pen for drawing aswell
Nice!!
Just in case if someone wants to buy the brush pen he was using most of the time, buy the normal/default brush size in stead of the thinner one, and it is water-based not oil-based
The mad man, he actually answered the question.
He sure did :)
RIP Master
The secret is out. To draw well you need to huff sharpies
The type of pen we use doesn't matter
but our experience, imagination and skills matters.....
Wow! this is very helpful.
Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge and experience.
I love experimenting with different mark making devices, and have many of the ones he has.
From sunny California, Best wishes for your continued success.
This man would be the best sales man for any art supply object LOL!

The Micron Pen he used is the same grade as mine lol. I like how versatile it is because you can create thick and thin lines unlike the typical micron grades. Cool pen for doodling and stuffs.

Oh I hav that pentel small one you show true it’s come various color
This reminded be of Beaudoin doing a demo with what looked like a broken chopstick and some ink wrapped in a cloth. He came up with it and a sheet of paper and said : "So now I'm going to do a random line and draw from there." He did a wonderful portrait. In the end, he saw that my dad who was doing the sound was really interested in his work. He said : "You like? You can have it if you want." Then he signed the page and gave it to my dad. So if any collector from Japan with big bucks is interested, I have a Beaudoin original somewhere... just KIDDING it stays here!!!
Just epically epic
Thanks for watching!!
So interesting that artist think there is “right or wrong” in art. THERE ARE NO MISTAKES IN ART!!!!!just keep drawing and practicing..
great mentality to have if you want to never improve, stay stuck with "your artstyle" for your whole life, and only receive compliments and recognition from likeminded "everything is art" people. also the "keep drawing and practicing" thing that everyone says all the time is potentially harmful. it's very important that you practice correctly, with books (on things like perspective, lighting, anatomy etc), reference, guidance etc. don't lie to yourself and follow shitty advice (like I did) and "just draw", wasting years of your life
Happy little accidents🌳
@@dramawind the advice isn't as literal as you interpreted it
With practice comes improvement just keep doing it regardless of your "happy accidents" and results will show
@@dramawind 0
@@dramawind Well i think the improvement u speak of is subjective, there are a hell lot of different art styles and the most important thing is loving the process of drawing...... Of course if u simply want to improve to impress others that's a whole other story :)
