hey does adding that many contaner in pi slow it down.
yes the more you add to it the more it will become congested. few more episodes we will see where we stand with the rpi and if it's starting to struggle. but as of now. seems to be holding very well

@@bijaymandal3679 The PI 4 have a fair amount of resources on them. I just retired some Dell Servers who loads fit just fine on some PI's. Granted they are like low end laptops now a days. In many workloads they are better than general servers when you look into watt of power vs workload.

Thank you for this tutorial. To this day I am still happily using my RPI as a NAS server (with SMB shares) + Webmin that I managed to set up using your tutorial from ages ago. I also added Transmission, NZBGet, Sonarr/Radarr, Jackett and Nextcloud, all on the same RPI. Now I would like to start from scratch and set this all up in Docker & Portainer (with the Homer Dashboard, because it looks sleek), but I am still struggling to mount external USB drives or SMB shares to containers in Docker. You briefly mentioned in this episode that you will be going over SMB/NFS shares in the future, so I am definately looking forward to that! Thumbs up for taking the time to create these videos and making all this comprehensible for Linux newbies like myself...

My RPi 8GB is humming along nicely...
I recommend you tell people or link people to installing ZRAM and log2ram to lower writes to the SD/SSD to prolong it's life

Good start to the series so far. I don't mind separate videos for each container or a couple of containers dependent on each other. I guess if compiled into one the timestamps keep it easy to get to the required information without much bother. Always look forward to Novaspirit's videos.

Not sure if this is on your list - Zerotier. That's one you may want to check out sometime and do a video. I use it every day just not from a docker container. Another tool for your toolbox.
Like your series so far, hope that it wil not stop. I have seen there has been an adjustment in the JDownloader config, the config path has changed. It is now /opt/JDownloader/app/cfg, if you follow up your awesome video tutorials (which are great explained, not to fast, etc.) then it wil not be working.

BTW: The latest docker version of jdownloader works fine in 64bits Raspbian OS.
Who have the 64bits version don't need to install the 1.4.3-arm64v8/1.4.3-armhf anymore.
I just ordered a rpi4 4gig - will be here on thursday. This video series sold me. Great detail on each video. Just wish the time between videos wasn't so long. I have a tendency to shelf projects. These detailed videos helps a lot. great series so far.

why you do not want to use volume for each container instead of making the long path for each?
Great content, easy to follow. It would be great to know how to use Pi-hole on this, as well as have it use wireguard also.

Im running openmediavault 6 and followed your guide and its working .. i tried following techo dad life but was giviing me errors.. i cant see my downloaded files in my smb share downloads folder i created in omv

Am I the only one having trouble with this container? Mine constantly stops with looking for updates from the server. I even tried another method "creating a Stack" with the same results. any advice?

My only Problem is the end with seeing another log and no download from the running containers log. Exactly as in your Video min: 8:24 and also no Connection to my.jdownloader Website.

I can deploy downloader and the container says it's running but the install log is throwing errors include " CFG File does not exist:" and java initialization errors. Is anyone else having these problems? Is there a solution?

I think I found an issue in one of your templates for the code-server container.
Where you set group env var, I had to replace GUID with PGID for the name. The label is wrong for the group but that's less of an issue.
This created my folders with group 911 for some reason and it couldn't start.
I've checked your GitHub and this typo appears in all 3 JSON templates.
I wanted to help you update this but I'm yet to learn how to git, my apologies.

With filebrowser, is there a way to have it as a mountable drive in windows? I got a Pi 4 that I want to use in a project like this but have it as a NAS as well as having other things like j downlader, pi hole, plex and other services running
The Raspberyy Pi OS 32 bit version worked fine with JDownloader but the Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS 64 bit is having issues with JDownloader, I tried different tags and the logs at one point said it couldn't find java.

Is what we pointed portainer at the best option of getting a list of containers? I notice its still using letsencrypt even though its been renamed to swag. Its not a massive issue for me as I'll do it from a shell but its not ideal for those that would be using the container thats no longer getting updates.
Funny you mentioned that cause I started creating my own portainer template, it's on my git. Still not complete yet but I'm working on making everything work for arm
@@NovaspiritTech I haven't looked at creating that at all yet, I'm pretty new to portainer, but have run linux for a while and have used docker a small amount. Thanks for your hard work on it. One thing that might be handy to show is how to update containers in portainer and actually it looks like portainer itself is going to get an updated container in a few days (notification of new version in portainer for me with no updated container). Got a pi 4 8gb on the way so I can stop using my pi 400 for this :D
for some reason my downloads are not downloaded to my given mounted folder! the config files go to my stated mounted folder but not the downloads. all other portainer apps work fine
nevermind i fixed it! i had the ENV : XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR set to my absolute path instead of the mount point -- /opt/JDownloader/Downloads lol
What utility is the web ssh you used around the end to access the pi?

I have tried it, but one point what is weird for me is everything runs as root user. And also all downloads are associated to root, it is possible to change this be default to user pi ?
Because if I ssh into it, as pi user I'm not allowed to do anything with my downloads. I also prefer seperat or max 2 at once.

Jdownloader also has occasional pauses. If I refresh the page I see the progress. Is this normal?
Is it possible to have these containers being statically mapped via DHCP instead of them all being on the same IP just with a different port? Would be nice for routing traffic different places. Like using pfSense aliases and have certain containers being routed through a VPN.
short answer, yes. but keep in mind these are containers and not VM's. you can create a new "bridge" to connect to your host lan nework and choose that new bridge to be the containers network.
I think this is also possible by setting up MacVLAN networking in Portainer. But that being said, I haven't gotten around to setting it up yet and making any trials.
Just use a reverse proxy like nginx or caddy, they work perfectly. I use caddy, I map every container to a subdomain of my main domain.
this instruction does not work... after installing proxmox there is docker which has portainer to serve. in portainer is filebrowser... and jdownloader ... the downloader works too
but if you want to delete files in filebrowser you get the error "500 Internal Server Error".
please tell me how to access the filebrowser order via ftp ? and how to fix the error 500 Internal Server Error fixed ?
filebrowser is not an FTP tool. You need some ftp tool installed on Docker.

I followed the installation, and everything went well, I have a 4TB data drive and a 128GB SSD running on a raspberry pi 4. When I transfer files using the file browser to the 4TB drive, /dev/root fills up to 100% and I can't do anything, if I delete the files on the 4TB, /dev/root empties accordingly. I have confirmed the files are written to the 4TB drive. I've found lots of references to this problem but nothing seems to work. If anybody can suggest why this happens and a solution, or point me to a resources I would very much appreciate it, for a NOOB this is very frustrating.

Why /b4bz/homer?
Hi I have set it up all properly but my file is not showing up in download folder but its getting saved somewhere else. I have no idea why. I have tried searching for file but not getting anything. However in jDownloader dashboard, it is showing file downloaded 100% I have full install so can access my pi using vnc. I have removed and again created the container but same issue. Can you help me out. If you need any other info then i will be glad to give it to you..
Double check the case, Linux is case sensitive. You can also use shellinabox and manually goto the directory you have bind to see
@@NovaspiritTech Yep.. Have doubled check everything using terminal. I just dont understand where it is downloading the file as cannot find it manually. I have checked all path and also done a search. I will restart and remove all container and try again
