I am a fan of Cane Corso and therefore became aware of your channel. With all due respect, no offence meant - but you talk very verbose, with a lot of words and little concentration on the point. Could you please show more real training and behaviour of your dogs? And shorter, more concise explanations? Otherwise the topic of your channel is very exciting!
Hi Larry, thanks for the feedback. I understand your point and I definitely do have a tendency to 'waffle'. Talking to camera and 'presenting' is difficult when I have no one to interact with like I would in a conversation so I can't gauge peoples level of understanding like I can in a 1-1 conversation, being more direct and to the point on video is something I'm working on and trying to get better at. That being said, I believe very strongly in not just showing the training sessions or 'The What' I do as for me it's far more important people understand 'The Why' there are plenty of amazing trainers here on TH-cam that show detailed training sessions (Upstate Canine Academy is what is advise you check out) so I'm happy to leave that to them, but from my experience training sessions are just a fraction of what we do with our dogs and actually the very easy bit, where the vast majority of problems arise is through the other time we spend with our dogs where we inadvertently train or reinforce problem behaviours and it's difficult to show how to avoid that through a training session, therefore, I feel have to discuss the theory in a verbose manner so people fully understand it, that often takes multiple different analogies and repetition for them to have that 'aha' moment of realising what they've been doing wrong so they can implement it in their lives to therefore reduce problem behaviours and ultimately help my true goal of reducing euthanized dogs. Like I say it's great feedback and I appreciate it, definitely something I'll work on but I hope that explains my ethos behind so much talking! :)
Will and Mabel can I just say, Will you took this feedback and really responded in a mature manner rather than take offence. That in itself is a skill so well done. Your channel is brilliant.. keep up the great work
@@willathertoncaninetrainingThank you very much Will for this answer and your time - and that you reacted so nice ! I understand your explanation and will be more patient in the future - because I will definitely continue to enjoy your videos!
This is how wil works, constructive criticism is one thing, but you are coming off so damn rude. Heres an idea for you, shorter comments, just get to the point ...even better, go make your OWN CHANNEL, then you can run it, and stop trying to direct another youtubers content... Edit... He had training programs that you can buy, you asked for more precise details on training, if you want just training and you're not interested in the vlogging side of this channel. Wil started this channel as a new vlog style channel, so we could be part of the day to day progress with Mabel
See this is why I could never do what you do Will. Because I would of told Pernille here to 'fuck off if you don't like it.' How's that for concise and to the point?
Every time I see Mable I tear up 💔 Rest In Peace you angel 👼 Thank you for being such a dedicated teacher Will, your lessons have impacted so many lives and I appreciate the work you and your wife put into this🙌🏽
People like to claim some breeds eg Corsos are "stubborn", won't listen etc. but your work with Mabel shows that any dog can be trained with a consistent and fair tone. She's eager and happy to work for you :)
I've watched multiples of your videos, I'm a subscriber and I'm enrolled in the Boot Camp with my 6 mo old 45 lb, mix. This is one of my very top favs because it shows a little more detail on the real workings of the Boot Camp as well as real issues, real training and real corrections. Please do more like these. Thanks for all you do.
Will, thanks for your advice with my Mastiff Rottie. As you said today, lots of exercise is helping to keep him more calm and obedient. I look forward to your videos and picking up guidance here and there where I need it. I see your increasing exposure and popularity has brought out the folks who think negativity and criticism is their calling in life. Ignore them please. We adore your videos.
I love 'break' . That is a great tool! I used to train my dogs together but I would tie one so it could watch while I worked with the other. It seemed to work brilliantly. They seemed to compete to get what I was teaching even faster. I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong, by any means. It's just what I found.
Thanks for answering my question! I like that you mention depression becuase that is the main focus I had with my question. Having known someone who suffered from it. They lived with a lovely rottweiler in their home and he always tried to calm her down, sometimes simply by putting his big heavy rottweiler head on her legs. Love this q&a thing, looking forward to next video
Really enjoy your vids Will - good to see sully and your family featuring more too as well as Mabel. Most people can train a dog within a controlled environment... But i like that you show us your methods but used within the context of a real family environment ... its definitly what sets you apart from others i follow. :-)
Your son is adorable and so smart. I love your channel, thank you for all your knowledge of training it helps a lot. I have a Came Corso and 2 Rotties. 🤗❤️🐾
Thank you so very much for a lovely training session, particularly when natural puppy exuberance means that not all goes to plan every time. This is why I want to watch both of you train your dogs. Huge thank you.
Beautiful work, Will!! I am following you for my EM puppy. Just like Mabel, the training has been less than goid due to holidays. This boot camp vids couldn't have come in better time. Thanks for all you do!!
Enjoyed the Q & A great questions that your wife picked out! Also enjoyed meeting one of your boys! Mabel is doing great, she's got a great dog & trainer to look up to,!!!
I have been doing research and gaining as much knowledge as possible before I add a Cane Corso to my family later this year. Both of your channels have been wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to make your content.
Looooooovvvveeee your videos and your values and general attitude Will! So many mistakes are made through people not being educated enough before taking on the responsibility of a dog. I’m watching all your videos to be fully equipped before us getting another dog in the next year after losing our beautiful 13 yo bearded last year ❤️
So incredibly happy i came across this video!! Shows me exactly what i need to do as a handler . Youre guidance is amazing. Will be buying the perfect canine course soon for my rescue pup
Hi Will, I have the same breed and same age (the dog), we started following your channel since you started. Its interesting to see that we go through the same challenges! We live in Malta and I do 1 to 2 hour training with him 5 days a week and he's always with me. It seems to tire him sometimes. Hence the 5 days. 2 days we go for long walks, hiking through rough terrain on Gozo island. He loves that. Dont worrie about the canine show channel. I know how absorbing it is to have a new puppy (poppy)!
I have rescued an untrained 10 month old Dashoodle cross. Weight 4 kg. How 16:01 do I stop him pulling so hard. I stop frequently and he sits calmly for up to 10 mins. However when I say heel and walk off he won’t stop pulling. I started with a collar. Tried a harness and a slip collar.
I have a cane corso mix pup just over 5 months. Shes great heeling on walks but when there is busy traffic and buses zooming past she gets a little frantic. I’ve just been avoiding busy streets for now but how to get her to not be so scared of large buses and traffic noises.
I have a 9 week cane corso and have been finding your videos so useful. I am going to start practicing heel but he wont stop biting the lead. Other than treating him through the hoop of the lead do you have any tips on how to stop him chewing his lead?
So is this going to be the Will..Sully and Mabel show? They're both fun to watch. Q..how do you get the other adult in the house on the same page with training? That's my biggest issue...😠
Great video and i Like the way your going with the Q&A ! I have a bordeaux dog, 9 - 10 weeks old and i have a question. What should i do if another dog dominates him. Like constantly pushing him over and standing tall above him? A 16 week old puppy does that with him when i walk my puppy i on the streets. Keep on the GREAT work ! Greetings from Holland
I see perfect puppy...but not boot camp. What am I missing? Thank you so much for being open about your depression. I am bipolar and couldn't stay sane without my horses and dogs.
Good point, I will explain the boot camp in more detail in coming videos this was just an introduction. There is a cross over between my perfect puppy protocol and the boot camp, but the boot camp is designed for all dogs of all ages not just pups. Thanks for the feedback I'll explain more in future videos :)
We have a 7 month bullmastiff. Do you think its too late to start at the beginning? We have a really bad bitting issue, which we think comes from the fact the breeder took him away from the other puppies because he got attacked and didnt get that experience of playing with other puppies. He doesnt bite other dogs its just use during the night usually. i wish we lived in England and could hire you to help train our bullmastiff puppy
@@willathertoncaninetraining Thank you! I love your videos and so wish we lived in England. Also, sorry to hear of your puppy, sending good vibes your way.
My 11 week old female Cane Corso growled and snipped at me as I removed her from a chair. I corrected her right away but wasn’t sure what may have triggered that response. She just got done running around with my other dog and was a little tired.
If I have a 12 year old lab that needs some reinforced training and a 6 month old pittie that is starting at ground 0, would you recommend purchasing the puppy training course or the Canine Boot Camp?
I noticed that you never say "no" whenever one of your dogs strays from its command. Why is that? Is a firm but not scary "no" command detrimental to the process?
Hi, my 9 month old cane coral shows strong resource guarding over objects and food even though we tried to reduce it by giving treats at the same time but it doesn’t seem to have worked.... any advice?
Will, I don't intend to be mean whatsoever, so please take my comment as an advice and preoccupation. Is your son being treated for his strabismus? He's very young and it could be easily treated if started ASAP.
Western Australia has a lot of fake dog trainers who use abuse as a training method. My brother sent his rescue dog to Bootcamp here & the method was to keep the dog on lead, but when the dog growled & lunged at dogs, to throw a length of chain near/at the dog & growl at him, "NO!" How vile. The dog has NEVER improved & attacks without provocation & at random. So sad. I have rescued maybe 30dogs &, yes, I yell above their noise but find positive reinforcement & strict, repeated rules the answer.
I purchased the bootcamp for a lot of frecking money. WHAT A SCAM. I am wanting my money back. Unbelievable how much they charge for such a small amount of information they give you. Nothing in the bootcamp you can't get for free from TH-cam or even this video. The bootcamp week videos are just motivational videos saying 'you can do this don't give up'. Never actually giving any examples of how to start your 1 hour of socialisation and obedience training . I understand every dog is different but they don't even teach you how to do a proper recall. Absolutely feel scammed.
When you buy his course.. you think he's going to give out free dog training as an expert dog trainer? He runs a business mate not a charity stop expecting free things
