    I think you should add the colors. The pop of color goes great in scrap blankets! I don’t think you will regret it , because there is a story behind those two yarns. Love your channel 😃

    I bet you would love the book series by Monica Ferris. The first one is "Crewel World". She steps into her sisters shoes and runs a needlework shop but is learning to knit . Great cozy mystery series.

    Id put both of the yarns in the scrappy blanket. I love when people put in their scraps over a period of time regardless of how they 'match'. I think its cool to see how your colour choices and yarn styles evolve over that period... From solids to variegated to self striping etc depending on the trends of the time.

    I came up with my own 2x2 rib hat. My decrease is different, but you are welcome to use it. When I am ready to decrease- I P2tog all the way around the hat. I then knit K2 P1 for about an inch. I then do rapid decreases- K2tog P1 around, K 1 round plain. Then I K2tog around until I end up with 16 or fewer stiches , Then I end it. I have knitted 25 of these hats for gifts and donations since September, and they work well, and are worn happily. Feel free to use and adapt. I have a 'leftovers' suggestion. Color work hats are great fun to knit and the possibilities are endless. Hats are fantastic gifts. You can use your leftovers with a larger skein of stash to do a colorwork hat. Tin Can Knits has some great hats, and once you learn hat construction, you will never need another pattern. Trust me on that! I may have been knitting for 40+ years, I may have only knit 10 sweaters in that time, but I have knit several hundred hats! Nice, easy, portable knits that give you all kinds of opportunities for expression. If you have scraps, and nothing to do with the hats........I am sure New York has plenty of homeless shelters that can always make use of donated hats.

    I would definitely use both of the leftovers you showed in my scrap blanket but I am a big fan of lots of colors 😊
    I used all of my stash at one point many years ago… I was down to zero. This was when I only knew how to crochet and I was tired of making blankets. It didn’t last because then I learned how to knit! I am loving following your quest for zero stash, you are giving me lots of ideas about how to work from my own stash. Thanks!

    Thanks so much for showing your works in progress so we can get an ides of how it looks along the way. I'm not very good,but might like to try a summer tee shirt, or light pullover sweater, made with plant based yarn. I'd like set in sleeves, if I can do them. Any ideas? Maybe just look for a book with patterns? Thanks for posting all your work.

    I always use self striping socks in my Granny stripes blanket, the "striping" really isn't that noticeable with all the other colours in the blanket. However, one row of 300 stitches uses less than 10 grams, so you will still have a lot of yarn left. I'm saving the bigger leftover balls for a knit blanket where I'll hold 2 fingering weight balls together, and the stripes will be over several rows in varied widths.

  • @janietremblay7462

    I have three granny square blankets. 1- Queen bed size with two rows per colors, 2 - King bed size where the leftovers from the Queen end up, so the number of rows is not regular and 3 - a queen bed size with all my self-stripping yarns, with number of rows not regular.

    I'll be at Disney World next week, too! Yay! For your self-striping leftovers (Castle at Night and Kent's hat), I thought maybe you could do another Musselburgh hat that is reversible, showing off the two yarns. I've got some Star Wars-inspired Must Stash yarn that I've been thinking about doing that. I also found the Quadra Cowl pattern by Martina Behm as an option to show off the self-striping yarn.

    Thoughts on the yarn for the scrappy blanket. Add the yarn from Kent’s hat. It is yarn that has meaning to him and is a part of your yarn story. The Christmas sock yarn…maybe…it’s more of a work project….

    I would add the leftover yarn from Kent's hat to your scrappy blanket but maybe only a few rows then other yarns before coming back to add more. It will be pretty but I wouldn't add the whole amount at one time because it would be a much bigger color block

  • @carmenwhitman7816
    @carmenwhitman7816 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I started a granny stripe blanket and I had to make the decision whether or not I wanted to add in some sections of "single stripes" and I really like it, but I don't think I would add self striping yarn to it, but I would try it out and see if you like how it looks, because it's easy to take out if you don't end up liking it. :)

    The sweater I gonna be beautiful. The black outline would make the " stained glass part" pop even more if it was glittery lol. Coul u make Kent a short pair of socks to match his hat? Do 5 rib and 5 to 10 rounds before heel? That would be cool and it would use up the.left over hat yarn.

    I like your stash reasoning! It’s similar to how I manage my yarn as well. In my head it’s labeled as stash OR scrap. I used to think of scrap as the tiniest pieces left, but now if it’s been used it becomes a scrap and out of the stash!

    I think I might be a little late but no, I wouldn't add the 2 yarns to the blanket if it were me. I'd tend to stick with colors that look more harmonious together. But of course if your goal is to use any scraps then.. you do your thing, right 😄

    Hi friends, I would add the Kent hat yarn, because like you said it tells a story. I used all my scraps of worsted weight yarns making a giant granny square blanket. Some of my scraps were about 10 years old. I don't really remember what the yarn was used for but it's a cozy warm blanket now. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

  • @IsabelaGiusti
    @IsabelaGiusti 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey, Natalie!! I have a silly question, quasi-suggestion: have you tried the 1x1/2x2 ribbed cable cast-on? It looks incredible, I'd dare say even better than tubular cast-on and not only that: it's more stable and doesn't require set-up rounds: you do it, join in the round and start knitting! It's my absolute favorite for socks and hats, since the rim of a hat stays so close to the eyebrows I find it imperative it looks good and polished. It's got all the pros, really, and the only con I could think of is that because each individual stitch is knitted or purled, it might take it a bit longer to do (though last time I used it, I cast ~160 stitches and it took maybe 40-60min, while I was pretty engaged watching TV)
