I have Broadmoor Hydro with a 14hp kohler. i picked it up for free in 2011. Put about $100 in a new battery, carb kit and filters, and spent a bit of time on the wiring and fuel tank cleanup. Have been running it hard every summer since then mowing our couple of acres of lawn with no issues at all. A few belts went of course but thats it. I never sharpened the blades even, they are very tough steel it seems.
    Thanks for the video.

    I'm glad I found this !
I'm working on a similar "Landlord that "I just acquired. MyKohler Command 14 HP does run. It will move under its own power in D1 & R.
    Its in relatively good shape.
It was advertised as needs some TLC
It has some "issues" that I haven't had it long enough to sort out yet ; although I'm fairly certain they're all related.
    The clutch is in operative.
It will start run & cut grass as long as you only need D1 . It will reverse IF ... if you pop the shifter without stopping.
The gears grind and the shifter locks up attempting to go back i to. Neutral.
The only way to stop it is turn the key 0ff.
All I've had time to do is remove the deck and take a quick look underneath.
The belt "appears to be router correctly", although not verified by schematic.
Presently the belt seems to slip rotating by hand with the idler pulley engaged or not ; almost like the belt is too long.
I "think-tank belt number matches the replacement referenced on line by my memory. N0T verified.
Your video will be valuable to help me trouble shoot my machines and expect what I'm up against.
    Thanks for a great video!

wow drive belt replacement looks miserable. I picked one of these up in good shape for $500. had a few really annoying things happen to me but overall it cuts well. there was some nut that connects the hydrostatic transmission to the gear lever, it vibrated off completely while i was mowing the lawn and was stuck at the bottom of my hill. took me a while to figure out what happened and then i had to replace it in the field. doh. next, does this thing even have an alternator? Whenever i turn on the headlights the entire tractor shuts off. I have a brand new battery in it too.

Simplicity's are only sold through dealers and it is the best cutting home owner tractor. If you want an MTD POS go to the big box store. You won't find any Simplicity's there.....

I usually just pull head and lap valves and resurfaced head
Seems it normal for bad head gasket, plus if engine didn’t run out good you got a head ready to go
