    Great review! I've had my 22 Forte GT DCT for a little over a month & it's been an absolute joy. Definitely the most fun car I've had & I'm coming from a Q50 AWD 3.0. I miss the power sometimes & I'll miss the AWD in the winter but for half the price this car is so much more impressive. Best bang for your buck in the sport-compact segment. The ILX feels a little quicker because it has a naturally aspirated engine so the torque is available all the time but with a turbo you have to wait for boost to build for the torque to kick in.

      I just got a Kia Forte GT Manual and came from the q40 3.7L AWD I feel the same way. I miss some of the power when I am going at highway speeds, but if I'm being honest its such a small thing its really not noticeable. I will say that the GT Manual is way more fun to drive than the q40. It's just more fun at lower speeds, where as the q40 needed to be going really fast to get the same feel.

    Keep in mind you’re test driving cars with low miles, its best to wait at least 600-1000 miles as they definitely get a little quicker after that.
    Ive dragy tested the Forte GT2 (DCT) and without using a launch and with the stock Kumhos:
    0-60: 6.34 sec (range in the 6.34-6.66 sec)
    1/4 mile: 14.65 sec at 96 mph as a best time (range 14.65-14.85 sec @94.5-95.5)

    The 1.6T in the K5 GT Line is the 1.6T Smart Stream... Forte still has the 1.6T Gamma; so although the same size; they are different engines with the Smart Stream being the newest engine design in the Hyundai/Kia lineup. Since the K5 GT Line is purely an appearance package and the Forte GT is a performance package; it probably has to do with tuning and gearing since the Forte GT is focused towards performance while the K5 GT Line is simply focused at looking like its a focused on performance.

    Good point regarding the forte gt vs K5 mpg comparison. I would think the mpg disparity despite the lower curb weight would be due to the transmission. Dct on the forte vs traditional automatic on the K5. Also, I believe the forte is tuned for higher max HP output at 201 vs the k5 (180?). Anyway, Forte gt looks good, and I prefer it to the Elantra n line. I'm currently waiting for my Forte gt line to arrive hopefully by the end of the month. Being an Acura guy, I agree with you with the Ilx and integra comments. The new integra with the Ilx dct would have been a better choice than the cvt in my opinion.

    Question: you said that 2nd gear only lets you get to 55 mph. And it’s an automatic car. Does that mean that the paddle shifters are like a mimic of Manual Transmission? If so, does that also mean that i will have to be shifting or just whenever I want to control the performances?

    • @WTFCRLT1

    I am eyeing this as my first car because of what you get for the price (and/or the Acura Integra manual if I really have the money for it). As much as I want to go for the manual, I heard that the MPG for it is not as great in comparison to the DCT. Please correct me if I am wrong. There is also the GT2 Package, which is only available in automatic, or not? Should this be my first car, I want the features (mostly safety) to be worth it for a long time. Thanks!

    • @WTFCRLT1

      I think this and the integra are both great first cars! I actually had an Acura ILX back in the day. Id go with whatever I could get the best price on. Same with the civic SI. Performance is similar enough between all 3 so Check all of them out and whichever comes out cheaper I’d go with 👍🏼 gas mileage really depends on how you drive it. Shouldn’t make more then a 1-2 mpg difference anyway. I had the 8 speed dct on my ilx and my buddy had a 6-speed manual civic si and actually had better gas milage

I’m pissed because of course when I’m finally ready to buy a car the used car market is unspeakable…learning now that my budget a couple years ago could’ve bought a nice 5.0 or something. But whatever, long story short I graduate this summer and will be going to med school after that so logically I need something that can be dependable for the next 5-6 years, I can’t be out of a car. But I want some sport/fun, luxury in a car doesn’t make sense for me if I want luxury I’ll buy a couch or a massage chair I’m not old yet lol. But my forte gave me the freedom, independence, peace of mind, and ability to get to work reliability to pay off all my student loan debt. Making reasonable car payments monthly helped me build my credit, while still being able to make enough of a dent in my student loan payments to pay those off early! I love that car like it's a member of my family. If this years Forte is just as reliable, you're looking at a perfect option for where you are at in life! Good luck in your search!!

    Good luck finding a KIA dealership that stocks any of the other trim levels. Every one I've been to is GT performance trim only. Usually with the GT2 package that costs $2K extra on the GT performance trim. You do get a lot for that $2K. But it's all comfort & convenience. Personally, I don't think it's worth it. Easy way to tell the difference is if the GT performance trim you're looking at has a sunroof. If it has one, then it has that $2K extra package.
    I'd honestly get this in black. Then try to hunt down a carbon fiber replacement hood to lighten the weight just a bit for slightly faster 0-60 time. Which realistically is going to be 6.7 seconds. Save that $2K, and spend it on the new hood.
    Also, power driver seats are hideously expensive to fix when they break down. Regardless of model. Stick with manual seats.

    Can the Stop & Go be permanently disabled? Or do you have to turn it off every time you start the car?

    I just bought the ‘22 GT in May and LOVE IT!!! Fun to drive. I think I like it better than my 2010 VW GTI. Just curious…. What is the major difference between the ‘23 vs ‘22 GT model???

      I just got a ‘23 and i havent had the chance to drive the ‘22 GT, but i have noticed that the front end looks a little different and there are more red accents on the outside of the car but i cant give you any difference in performance

      No difference at all besides one or two new included standard features but it’s basically the same as the 22

    the 2023 Elantra N Line is the better option in my opinion because you're getting SOME more features and better tech as far as what the driver uses.... The styling of the N Line also looks a lot nicer than this boxy design

    • @ocddisco1239
      @ocddisco1239 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But I thought the n line here in America only has heated seats and a smaller center display? Does the new one you mentioned have more now?

    • @xfks
      @xfks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ocddisco1239 For 2023 The N line gets a 10.25 Inch digital gauge cluster and gets a bigger infotainment which is also another 10 inch display which would be one of the main selling points over the Forte GT for me because i prefer a more technological interface while driving

    • @scottdawson9437
      @scottdawson9437 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I test drove both and ended up with the Forte GT with the GT2 package. The forte actually has more options that the Elantra N line simply didn't offer like LED headlights/foglights, heated and cooled seats, leatherette seats, rear parking sensors, 8 speaker Harman Kardon sound system, rear AC vents with USB charging, auto hold and electronic parking brake. with all this the Forte was still cheaper. Not sure why Hyundai didn't offer these options considering they are basically the same car.

    • @xfks
      @xfks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scottdawson9437 I wasn't aware of some of those features. I think the Forte GT would definitely make a better family sedan so to speak. More comfortably for its passengers. However for me personally I prefer the N Line for 2023 because its more focused on the driver. The Digital dash and the sunroof are the main selling points for me over the Forte GT as well as the styling.

      But I see that they discontinued the manual for the ‘23 which is a disappointing downgrade for anyone aspiring to bust this little banger for less than 25k. Now, I’m considering the ‘23 SI.
