Frost Nova causes mobs to target anyone anyone near them so if you Nova and mobs are outside range to meele you, they will swap to whoever they can hit.

Enjoyed the video! Two things I would suggest, based on my own experience with MfB. If you’re going to use Aspect of the Viper, get improved aspects to gain 20% damage with 2 points. Also, you could use Northern Winds ERE to make your Frost Shock give you a movement speed boost instead of slowing. I used it with mine and it was nice to have reliable mobility.

Thing to keep in mind (if Ascension has it in) is that getting Parried will Speed-up the next incoming mob-swing, so Expertise will matter in some sense for reducing incoming damage if you use melee weapon-swings as a part of the build.
I think you missed the one talent in arcane tree that gives you mana and free damage while taking damage in barrier „stance“ while casting. This way you can recast blizzard or other spells while tanking. I made a build that used the AOE incinerate enchant as its main dmg source in aoe. With the casting Route you can also pick a Fire mage Talent that gives you 30% dr when you are silenced/interrupted and give a immunity against interupts every 30 seconds or so. Works great for me, maybe you can make that work in a frost build. Edit: didn’t watch far enough. Point on incinerate still stands :)
Ive settled on a farming version of this build that uses unbounded deathbringer and blessing of sanc with arcane blast to just farm normal strath over and over for lots and lots of gold lol...it still handles most boss pulls and mobs though can struggle a bit against a lot of caster mobs
Any more information you can give on this build? As for rotation/ specific talents you would need to make this viable? It sounds very intriguing and I’ve been wanting to turn this into a farm tank since you have such great damage mitigation, all that’s left is a few chunky self heals and you’re unstoppable
If you still want the stormstrike, you can go with the epic RE that gives you fingers of frost whenever you stormstrike. Could give you way more single target dps w/ icelance, and you can also cast the deepfreeze on bosses
You also forgot that shaman frost weapon enchant gives bonus frost spell power, has a chance to do frost damage and slow on hit. Blessing of sanctuary seems good too. Restore mana on block PLUS it's blue.. Also the enchant that converts int to defense rating is supposedly really good. I find Disc priest shields work together with mana forged tanks super well. Rapture can restore mana, and it gives tanks a chance to restore any mana in the meantime from it not being used on the barrier. On top of this, I've heard many people had to level 1-60 to learn HOW to do mana forged tank. It's not as simple as getting a big mana pool and going out. Tanks I've healed with it say there's a bit more nuance to it than meets the eye.

If you want, you can try to get additional spell damage by converting armor into attack power and then into spell power. You can gain a hefty amount of armor from Arcane Fortitude (which is buffed by MF Barrier), Thick Hide (BM Hunter), and Firm Grip for relatively few talent points. Armored to the Teeth plus MD and MQ will allow you to convert some of your mitigation stat into an offensive one. Additionally, your Mind over Matter enchant will benefit from having a shield and my personal recommended shield talents would be Shield Mastery and Redoubt. If you pick up Blessing of Sanctuary you will gain 2% mana every time you dodge, parry or block. Perhaps Omen of Clarity could smooth out the mana regen of the build. Unfortunately, the best spell damage weapon enchant is Rockbiter Weapon as it offers more than the others with MD + MQ.
Are you sure the aspect of the viper is worth? It's only good when you are low on mana, but when you look at the impact on the total mana regen it's more like a 40% dmg nerf.
Mana fiend has the LRE is insane for plus 15% int,, but you don't auto attack ever bc you don't want to proc it. Eldrich Knight maybe better for your build?
Whats the problem with high risk exactly? I roam high risk daily and find people in common farming spots and while farming mats etc. Mind explaining what you dislike about it atm?
Improved Stormstrike of Seal of Wisdom and other hybridy gimicks work well on hybrids because they don't stack INT (not too much anyway), but since they work with BASE mana, they don't have any noticeable effect on casters. Aka restoring 20% of 2k mana pool is huge, restoring 400 of 10k+ mana pool you don't even notice.
It looks like you have an issue with grouping mobs so maybe arcane explosion for that, also if you have available points for it might be worth switching from judgement back to stormstrike with maelstrom and frostbolt, more thematic and gives you something to do on single target.
I found this problem early on in the league that if you weren't a mana tank that healers struggled really bad due to every tank being mana barrier. I was a 2h parry tank early on and if I didn't get grouped with a competent healer it was a rough run, or a healer using a shit build.
I’ve been playing a mana fiend build lately, and despite me being arcane based and dps (planning to make an off spec that I can tank with mfb) Currently I have about 20k mana, it is crazy. Highest mana I have seen so far is 25k lol.

heads up, anything that says base mana is hot garbage (judgement of wisdom) quick maths on my MFB char. 1200 int, 19066 mana. if i hover over the int it says im getting 17705 mana from this 1200 int. 19066 - 17705 = 1361 - thats your base mana 2% of 1361 is 27 mana. so basically youre picking between your autos have a chance to restore 27(ish) mana or heal for around 85 healing
Dreamstate the tallent is also trash as its every 10 seconds and only your missing mana (you said you never went below 75% mana) if youre at 10k mana thats 2500 mana missing at most. 3% of 2500 is 75 mana every 10 seconds for 3 tallent points and its rng when it hits. you might be full mana and it gives nothing. since dreamstate was changed its only good now on builds that go to low mana and sit there - the opposite of what MFB wants. (Dreamstate the RE is still very good for MFB as its the unchanged version)
not through the video yet, but what i can see in roughly the middle of it is what i saw with every manaforged tank so far. You dont have the mana to cast spells, coz you need it to become damage "immune", so ppl just pick up threat stuff and be fine with dealing 250 dps roughly in mythic+ I think its a good build for MASSIVE dmg reduction, but dealing NO damage whatsoever just doesnt appeal to me.... ye looks like you just want to triple or quadrupule down on the deep freeze cd also maybe take a look at ice lash if you want do dual wield, i get it you want the manareg from the legendary, but you can pick up shamanistic rage instead i believe. but ye i have no clue if it would even work ^^ not many ppl thinking of "frosttank"

With 2 points in Aspect Mastery its only 20% reduction, it procs more often than Seal of Wisdom on melee attacks, and also gives 4% of max mana/3 seconds. Its actually pretty good for only 20% damage reduction.
I feel like MFB should be usable against players, at a very reduced damage percentage. Like how much mana you have, you take between 5% to 20% or 10% to 25% reduced damage from players. I feel like that would make it applicable for pvp and all that.

You don’t have a threat issue, stop using Frost Nova, it’s causing all the loss of aggro notifications. When frozen; if you are out of melee, they will target whoever is closest.
I would NOT use frost nova on tank! If any from your team is closer to the frozen mobs they will ignore agro youve built. It will really screw over your melee teammates in a big way and prevent them from dealing damage since they cant get close.
440 def makes you def capped.... you're literally wasting about 300 stats in def with the items/enchant that could go to hit/crit so you can keep aggro and do damage
Getting hit on gear is what you need mate, do not believe it's bad for you because you spent your talents to get it. You are supposed to get hit on gear so you can spend those talent points elsewhere. Same for REs. Also, you are supposed to toggle aspect of the viper on and of. No reason to start the fight with it on when you have full mana. You are losing 40% Damage on your opener. no wonder you have threat issues.

The reason you took so much damage early was having no PVE power. 25ish% more damage because you were full bloodforge.
Bro and 24.75% damge done as well... Its just better to go with crap pve gear than go with good bloodforge

@mcdoubles if you are looking for a 3rd epic RE, Defensive Magic is a really good one so you can still block dodge and parry while casting.

I think this every time I see a mana forged tank stay at full mana the whole dungeon and last place in damage.

you can talent into aspect mastery then there is no dmg penalty from aspect of the viper but tank dmg is still trash :/

You could add the Epic RE Chilling blows, which reduce cd of deep freeze on target immune to stun.
