I think I had said this before that I DNFed The Jungle in high school. Read the Cliff Notes instead for a report. This sounds more up my alley now that I'm older and can appreciate the grittyness of it all.
I read The House of Seven Gables in high school, but dont remember a ton from it. I'm probably going to read some Nathaniel Hawthorne this summer since I plan to take a trip to New England next year and maybe visit Salem Massachusetts. Great wrap up with those 2 books. Classics for sure.

@@someothercharacter I remember you saying that you didn't finish the Jungle. It is a depressing book but it is interesting and maybe you you might like it if you give it another chance. I can relate to some of things that happen in it from my experiences and I can be thankful that I haven't experienced some of the things that happen in this book. I am glad I never had to work in a slaughter house that is for sure.
If you want to read a Nathaniel Hawthorne novel the House of Seven Gables is a good one. It is an interesting story. It is a type of story that you can watch a movie or a play of it before reading it and enjoy it more because you know what it is about as you read it. I look forward to seeing the movie staring Vincent Price of the House of Seven Gables. I have seen a play staring Shirley Temple of it on TH-cam and I enjoyed it because I understand the story more after I watched it.
Thank you for watching and your comments. It was hard to explain these books and I appreciate you being here! I hope you enjoy your trip to New England. I believe there is a actual house that the story by Hawthorne is based on. Maybe you can see that on your trip.
One more thing Planet of the Apes movie from 68 is available on TH-cam. I look forward to seeing it now that I read the book. It was a very enjoyable book.

@@peterthebooklover9375 The 68 version and the Tim Burton one are the only ones I've watched. I prefer the 68 version myself. It's a classic.

How interesting the effects The Jungle had on the president and the food administration.
It'd be interesting to read Planet of the Apes 🙂

@@nymunfashionablepoetry I agree that is is interesting that the book of the Jungle had the effect it did. I am glad that they started to enforce laws in the meat packing industry. A lot of the practices they talk about in that book was disgusting. There was a good chance you could wind up buying meat from a diseased animal and get sick. It is an interesting book. It is also a very sad book. I am glad I read it. I really enjoyed The Planet of the Apes. It is a great book. All of the original movies are available on TH-cam right now and I am having a Planet of the Apes movie marathon. The first one is a great movie but I enjoyed the book a little bit more. Thank you for watching and your comments. It is great to have you here!

I wonder if they got the name of the Beetlejuice movie from the name of the world in this story

@@aronkorol2985 I don't know but every time that Betelgeuse was mentioned Beetlejuice came into my mind. Planet of the Apes is an interesting story and I enjoyed it. Thank you for watching.
