    Thomas, thanks again for wonderful vid! I was wondering: why remove the snow next to a row of tents instead of utilizing snow walls as wind barriers? In any high mountain climb you would spend time building snow walls around the tent to mitigate wind.

    • @tletter
      @tletter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +S C
      There are many mountains tents onsite for the ALE staff and these do have snow walls around them. However, the tents that we stayed in are much higher and so building a snow wall that would be effective is not practical given the space available (crevasses limit the camp size). As well the latter tents are much stronger than the former ones.

    That is on my bucket list. Not Necessary the south pole but Antarctica. I tried very hard to get stationed there while in the Navy but had no success at that.

      Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions (ALE) pretty well dominates interior travel in that area of Antarctica.

      Vis-à-vis the Basler BT-67, there is really no new plane available that combines the ruggedness, load capacity, economy of operation, and ability to operate on skis.

      this the most stupid thing to say... tv in any form is just senseless propaganda machine. Of course, self-driven, educated and adventurous youtubers make way better content. Way way way better content. p.s. me and my wife stopped watching tv over 15 yrs ago completely but i do remember bbc's disgusting "nerve narration" style; good we have YT

      The viruses of concern are transmitted from person to person, especially indoors, so the climate isn't the major issue.
