Thank you for normalizing a mother’s adjustment with her schedule in the baby years. I tend to feel bad about waking up whenever and having a slow morning with my 6 month old baby. I don’t hear much from content creators about waking up in the night with their baby. I’m a first time mom so it’s nice to know this is normal and okay 😊
It's just so nice to hear someone saying: l don't have a waking up/bedtime routine. "Why people feel that ' we have to have everything scheduled to the point! Homemaking is from THE HEART, and when you learn to enjoy it ,everything is become more easy, even in those hard days!❤ Thank you for all you do!
Lisa, just letting you know how much inspiration you have brought to my life. I'm cooking from scratch a lot more and figuring out how to plan my time better. You have opened me up to the world of antiques too and it's so much fun to hunt for pieces at goodwill. Loving the content, keep it coming please ❤ P.S. I'm having my second baby soon and I can't wait to baby wear. Why didn't I try this with my first?
I love your approach to parenting. It’s common sense and you try to simply it when possible. I try to teach my adult daughter (mother of one), don’t make it harder than it is.
You have a very calming voice . I'm keto 52 and don't have any kids at home anymore but I still love to watch you . I'm also Celiac so no bread but I love watching you make it ....wish I could. I.m also in Australia
That one of the good things about big families, we all do the work! And we don't entertain kiddos, they play with theirs siblings, we can enjoy time with them some other way!😂
Great video! I was 21 when I had my first baby, and was totally clueless! I had wanted to nurse her, but when that nurse told me the first thing she would get would be my milk and it would take 3 days for it to come in, I cried all night and put her on a bottle the next morning. No one told me she was getting that all important colostrum during those 3 days. My husband took off the first week I was home and fortunately he did know how to care for a newborn ♥️. Our second daughter arrived 4 years later, and by then I was more confident as a mother, and in nursing my baby. Girl number 3 arrived 6 years after the second, and by then I was totally comfortable in my role as mother. All three are now grown with families of their own. As to birthday parties, all three got one big party at McDonald’s (it had a playground!), but only one. The older two girls chose to have their party on their 6th birthday, the youngest had hers on her 4th birthday. All other birthday celebrations were cake and ice cream with a few neighborhood children who were their playmates. And of course a family celebration. Although I had a birthday party every year, my husband’s first birthday party was when he was 31! His family didn’t celebrate birthdays, but mine did! Love watching your channels. This old lady (I’m now 72!) has learned so much from you, and I now make sourdough bread, thanks to your guidance ♥️
We stopped doing big birthday parties when my son’s whole class responded yes which got him very excited (he has Asperger’s) and then no one came. He was heartbroken. I spent a lot of money on food and party favors. The kids bullied him a lot so this was one final slap in the face and we knew that he truly was the outsider. They never invited him to their parties after that either. So we made memories rather than having parties. Bowling. Local historical places and events that he enjoyed. Etc.
I liked the question about the difference between the early years and now. I am in the early years with four 4.5 and under. My 17 month old is climbing up on everything. She even pushes chairs up to the counter. My three year old also gets into things like my little nursing/diaper changing basket that travels around with me.
Thank you for the comment on no exact wake up/bedtime. I've had pregnancies back to back for years and never understood how people could do this. Breastfeeding, cooking from scratch, pregnancy, newborn phase can all uproot a schedule so for a long time I felt like I was failing, but then I realized I have a strong rhythm and that's what keeps us going. No exact times, but a nice rhythm that gets everything done and everyone finds comfort in our rhythm.
May God bless you! Taking care of a family, a home , a baby is not easy! And yet we might look tired but we know where OUR HEART IS! I HOPE YOU CAN FIND SOME JOY IN YOUR LIFE! as a mom of 6 l really know what Lisa is taking about!
For birthdays with my family its a pick an event and pick a meal kind of thing. We dont do birthday parties and presents. Generally the kids will pick go to Main Event (arcade and bowling) and go to Pizza Street for lunch. Then we will do a cake at home after dinner. Just make the day about them. My oldest picked a trampoline park and Popeyes for his birthday next week. He's turning 16 so i'll probably give him some money too to get something special
I loveee the random topic videos. I actually would like to see them weekly! Like how Garden Answer here on TH-cam goes through all her video’s comments and pulls a few from each video and answers them in a weekly video. Idk just an idea cause I know many of us would love that!!
Thank you for sharing so openly with us! ❤ You have a good perspective on raising a family, no child comes with a manual, routines are personal to one’s needs/desires and tips are a blessing to share. THANK YOU! 😊
This was really fun and helpful to listen to Lisa. You reminded me about your sourdough course, so I grabbed it. I’ve gone all through your blog, but like you said, you can always learn more! I, too was clueless with my first baby. I have to say my 3rd is my most challenging simply because of personality.
We're very similar! I appreciate you sharing that you have a team helping. I already knew that, but i think sone people definitely see you or other online people and think how do they do it, i must be so inadequate! And i agree, if you want to cook from scratch, you have to be home. Thats what i always tell my friends. We don't have many commitments besides homeschool co op and church. :) thanks for another great episode!
I have learned so much from you !!! I love your channel !!! Who would have thought that I would be making a sourdough starter, sourdough bread and I’m loving it !!!! Thank you !!!
Good Sunday morning Lisa! It’s a brisk 10 degrees here in western Central Pennsylvania! I am enjoying watching one of your videos as I drink my cup of morning tea. Even though I am old enough to be your mom, it does my soul good to relax while watching you tend to your family and make your home a cozy reflection of your family, and the process of making our homes reflect our taste, style , function, etc., certainly grows and changes as our family grows older and changes to where we are now empty nesters, and sweet hubby of 47 years has retired! It’s a glorious time of life! “Lord willing and the creeks don’t rise”, I will be making my first “starter” today. Hubby is also getting into this, he has always liked creating in the kitchen, so, fingers crossed 🤞, we will begin our journey! One question, I found a facebook group for sourdough lovers, and a person shared a picture of their gross looking starter, it had black flecks in it. A lot of the more seamed bakers were asking if she used King Arthur flour since it seemed to seek and destroy starters. ( it looked like there were caraway seeds in it, and it was NOT that. Others asked her if she covers it with aluminum foil since there was a piece of it behind her jar of starter. No, she used cling wrap. Others chimed in to say that a lot of times the aluminum doesn’t have to cover it to cause problems, it can ruin it by simply being nearby. Well, I finished my novel, have a restful and beautiful Sunday, and not forget to get meat out to thaw! I LOVE doing that , it works for a family that is now empty nesters, as it does for your beautiful family! Enjoy these years and this phase of your life, I miss having my small little boys around me!
Really enjoying these podcasts featuring just you! Your lifestyle is so interesting to me and I find it very refreshing/inspiring/encouraging/entertaining!
Thank you for giving us a glimpse into your life. You are truly an inspiration. I like that you’ve been able to structure your business ventures in such a way that frees you up to do homemaking and mothering
Funny how you say hardest is 0 to 1 kid or 1 to 2, i had my first 3 back to back, a year apart, so each one felt so hard! Now with my 4th, more years in between, i finally feel comfortable being a mother
Etc. Also we didn’t baby proof our house either. We had a playpen for short times contained and I was simply there teaching my children the word no. People used to be in awe that I would have decor out with toddlers around. They would mostly care about Christmas decor such as feeding cereal to the nativity scene statues and such.
It's refreshing to know that you don't have a strict schedule you use. You just go with the flow. I do have to have a to-do list. I just try not to overfill it. I understand you have a team that helps you with your work, but what would be your advice to someone who is just starting out and doesn't have a team? I don't like that my family makes me feel bad for not wanting to throw my son a birthday party every year. I'm not one for overdoing it. I like simple gatherings or none at all. I have not stepped into my hosting season yet. Whatever we do I will definitely try to include the closest relatives though.
I have a baby due in three months so I don't yet have the experience of hosting birthday parties 😅 however, me and my husband aren't the party type either and quite frankly, a baby won't remember the cake and balloons. I always envision a small gathering/family dinner for babies, if I have the time/energy. No need for big parties especially when they are young and you're on a budget.
Love your videos all respect when I say your awesome in all you do I just am amazed my friends use to call me the energizer bunny lol you do so much and I get you have rest and all but lol you are to me all respect amazing at it all
Mine are grown. When my tirst was just starting topull up or reach, my mother said to my stressful self that if you teach them how to treat your stuff like gold, when they getaroynd the "gold" things, they'll know how to treat it. On another front, i took all under sink stuff/poisons to a top cupboard in the attached garage. Under my sink was atorage bowls etc. Nothing liqiud or powder in house that could harm. It takes the stress away knowing they're safe.
What you said about them being their own unit is so true. I wish more people understood this so they'd have more kids lol. I have 3 toddlers and am pregnant with a 4th. Those 3 together are easier for me to manage than when I only have 1 (if the other 2 are napping or something). When I have all 3, they completely entertain each other. They're so close in age that they are best friends and have been from the start. But when I only have 1 kid, I'm their main source of social stimulation and it's exhausting lol. I can see why people who only have a 2 year old are overwhelmed. I say, give that 2 year old a sibling and watch your workload get easier!
I see you changing something with your lighting. My biggest problem right now is lighting and a camera. What are you changing when you switch the lighting?
Not sure how you ask questions? Is there a link? My question is have you ever struggled with postpartum or mental health struggles and if so how do you handle that
I have shared about this on other podcasts and some blog posts...I just worked on it when the kids were napping and after they went to bed. It was a lot of trial and error but I made a commitment to post a certain amount weekly ....
I have a question about in what sense you are using the word farm. You have a backyard garden and chickens, which many in an urban setting also have. I can see how this can be called homesteading when you are trying to produce your own food for your family. You also have a dairy cow... does having a cow move you from the backyard/homestead to having a farm? I guess my question is, when does a homestead become a farm?
I think you see it on my TH-cam channel. My husband and I are on the same page, we work together from home and homeschool. We do have a weekly date night that we really enjoy.
How can you find the right help to help with business, like you mentioned… podcast manager, writer etc? I’m looking for someone to take over my instagram to promote my handmade hair and body products.
@user-tk1ht6wn3j Hey I'm so sorry for the day you're having for you to be this negative so early in the morning. It is definitely normal
And okay! I do the same!
Absolutely normal and essential to get the rest you need when you can.
Absolutely! Also a ftm and I've learned to manage my expectations for sure. And absolutely get as much sleep in the morning as possible
It's just so nice to hear someone saying: l don't have a waking up/bedtime routine. "Why people feel that ' we have to have everything scheduled to the point!

I agree completely with you.
I appreciate that!
Maybe do a day-the-life video? Showing homeschooling & everything? It would be fun for us to see.
She has a lot on her Farmhouse on Boone channel :)

Love these random Q & A’s. Listening while doing some kitchen work. God bless you and your precious family! 😀❤️

I sure enjoyed this random q and a!
Thank you Lisa
Growing up we never had the money or the time for birthdays. Maybe a home made cake .but that’s it.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Q and A. Lisa, you are looking so lovely! ❤️🙏🏻Val C

I would like to know about the dress that you made that you put on Etsy is there a picture of it somewhere? I would love to see it.
Another good show !
Glad you enjoy it!
Omg……you are a visionary. 🌟
Not sure how you ask questions? Is there a link? My question is have you ever struggled with postpartum or mental health struggles and if so how do you handle that
I would like to hear more about how you built your blog, i.e. without any hired help.
When you have farm animals.
I love your videos ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤
Great 👌 vlog
Thank you 😊
Hi from Brazil! I want a large family! How do you deal your marige life with a lot of kids?
I think you see it on my TH-cam channel. My husband and I are on the same page, we work together from home and homeschool. We do have a weekly date night that we really enjoy.
What did everyone think of the ark encounter ? We’re somewhat close and have been thinking about going !
I highly recommend Ark Encounter!
How can you find the right help to help with business, like you mentioned… podcast manager, writer etc? I’m looking for someone to take over my instagram to promote my handmade hair and body products.
Lisa, I have watched you channel for several years but I decided I will not be doing anymore sourdough. Do you ever do recipes that are not sourdough?
Not much baking without sourdough but I do share dinner recipes on occasion
I have a question for your next Q&A. Do you and your husband plan on having another child, or is your family complete now?
I have actually answered this questions many times...my husband and I feel comfortable letting God determine our family size.
I think kids in large families learn from a very young age how to get their needs met!! 😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Americans and constantly moving houses. So weird to me. 😊
Honey, to be honest, you are looking absolutely exhausted. Please take care of yourself.
@user-tk1ht6wn3j Hey I'm so sorry for the day you're having for you to be this negative so early in the morning. I hope things get better and that you find some success in your journey to figure out how to get more done and how to spend your time more wisely. You made a really good choice looking to Lisa for guidance! How cool you were the first to click and comment!
@@ekatrinya It's obvious you don't really care about Lisa and your condescending "little ray of sunshine" routine needs work.
No she is not! She looks beautiful as always! Keep you mean thoughts to yourself! Only a jealous person would say something like that! Ugh 😩😩😩
Lisa you look so beautiful! You are glowing! Val C
Deep in toddler phase with a 3 year old and an 18m. It feels like it will never end, especially after a week of stomach bug hitting the boys. It's so encouraging to hear from you that there is more to motherhood than this phase. Thanks! 🤍
