    The FBI block used in my videos was from Clear Ballistics gel.
    The invention of the G2R's projectile R.I.P.™ is related to the ability to control the way the projectile reacts as it passes through different mediums by control of the mfg process, geometry and the rate of failure at different zones along its axial length. More particularly but not limited to the ability to take the projectile and predictably have it stay solid in one medium but yet have the exact same projectile predictably react as a fragmenting bullet through a different medium without alteration of the projectile. The geometry at the tip of the projectile has much to do with the way the projectile travels through tissue. It has been long known in the medical industry that a trocar point penetrates the dermis layer more efficiently. Patents for trocars appeared early in the 19th century, although their use dated back possibly thousands of years. It is the use of this geometry at the front end of the projectile that does specific work at the point of entry from one system to the next. Dependent on the medium the projectiles geometry is designed to react differently.
    Imagine a Hole saw. The hole saw action that occurs at points of entry into different mediums reduce initial drag which allow the hollow cavity in the center of the projectile to rapidly pack. In the case of plywood the hole saw action cleanly cuts and packs the projectile with a slug that makes it solid thus allowing it to conserve more of its energy. This performance could prove to be very effective for law enforcement that may be in a situation where the target is behind such an obstacle whereas more energy will be carried into the intended target and not lost in the obstacle.
    In a fluid the projectile fragments. Due to the trocar geometry of each petal the resulting diameter of the fragmentation pattern is maximized. The trocar tips allow the fragments to swim through tissue / gel with less resistance thus conserving energy. The cross sectional thicknesses and geometries also create a full 180 degree flip halfway along each of the 8 petals path. The resulting shock wave and wound path is maximized. The result is devastating.
    The G2 Research R.I.P. 9mm:
    * Up to 6" diameter spread
    * 96 gr projectile
    * 2" grouping at 25 yrds
    * 1265 FPS / 370 Muzzle Energy
    * 9 Separate Wound Channels
    * Precision Machined
    * Solid Copper / Lead Free

    This may be the best target at showing the damage patterns of the RIP Ammo.

      picassopainter2 lol exactly... This company is taking big time advantage of millions of uneducated consumers. People who know absolutely NOTHING about defensive ammo or ballistics will literally argue until theyre blue in the face defending the capabilities of this ammo! Its laughable and to be honest, a little frustrating...

    What are these shiny bubbles behind the bullet? You can see them just before the bullet hits the balloon.

      That is a bullet contrail i wont go into detail about it but if i remember correctly it is caused by the low pressure zone created behind the bullet.

    I sure don't want to be on the receiving end of one of these. That being said, I plan on getting a box for each caliber I have, and putting 1 on top of each stack as my first shot followed by glasers as home defense rounds.

    If you get hit with one, chances are a fragment hit an artery or vital organ. if not, there's still a hell of a lot more internal surface area to bleed from than a normal bullet.

  • @AAK-ne4wv

    This is not a good thing for RIP. A ballon should not be enough resistance to break the “petals” from the core. That seems to be the weakness of RIP ammo… I’d doesn’t stay in tact if you have to hit someone behind glass or any other material.

    The ballistics gel was the best one. And it was crystal clear! Sick stuff! But I agree I would hope I never have to use these because the target is going to die.

    • @totalmetaljacket789
      @totalmetaljacket789 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unlikely, it sacrifices the key factors necessary for a bullet to kill a target.

    • @mythslayer1579
      @mythslayer1579 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      picassopainter2 well, correct me if I am wrong, but are you referring to the mass of the bullet? Even so, this round acts like a .223. When a .223 enters the body it tunnels and breaks apart. So, it doesn't have the stopping power but it shreds the tissue, organs, vessels etc in its path.
      So, are you talking about mass?

    • @totalmetaljacket789
      @totalmetaljacket789 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lucas Maselli
      I'm referring to hydrostatic shock and organ displacement, this round has a much smaller temporary cavity than similar HP rounds of the same caliber, meaning the chief "stopping power" is sacrificed for some slight fragmentation. Also, the .223 doesn't really react quite like that, it rarely tumbles, as you could see by watching Brass Fetcher's videos. The 5.56x45 however, does tend to tumble and occasionally break apart, but the tumbling is what does the damage, not the fragmentation. Tumbling rounds are far more dangerous than fragmenting rounds, seeing as how a tumble transfers more energy in the name of resistance and therefore creates a large temporary cavity, the chief force in organ displacement. The 7.62x39 has a tendency to do the same thing, tumble with devastating results, but these are both rifle rounds. Pistol rounds rely on energy transfer to cause hydrostatic shock and organ displacement, as those will bring a target down, even if it doesn't cause immediate death. There's a reason the FBI doesn't use Liberty Civil Defense, RIP, or Black Talon rounds, two of which aren't by any means new. They're simply just not as effective.

    • @mythslayer1579
      @mythslayer1579 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      picassopainter2 Ahh, I see. That makes a lot of sense. Also, I didn't know there was that big of a difference between .223 and 5.56.
      Thanks for setting me straight.

    • @totalmetaljacket789
      @totalmetaljacket789 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lucas Maselli
      The differences between .223 and 5.56 are slight, but they make quite a difference in soft tissue. It's probably mostly due to the 5.56 traveling roughly 2.5-3x faster, makes sense as to why it would tumble then.

    Wow, if I ever have to defend myself against a toy balloon, I'll go with this stuff.
    Otherwise, over-hyped, marketing claims defying physical laws, and thoroughly debunked in independent ballistics tests, not unlike every other fragmenting or frangible defensive pistol round before it.
    Pretty much a cosmetic do-over of the Liberty Ammo Civil Defense round - now on its exciting third name.
    The hype for this will pass because you can't fool all the people all the time, but you can always fool enough early on to make a buck.

      AdoreYouInAshXI Checkout tnoutdoors9 channel. The talons only penetrate about 4 inches, and the central projectile makes a hole like a .22. The advertising is aimed at suckers who are impressed by the ad but who probably won't do any independent research.

    Gimmick round, the company states it's great for use against most barriers, but any barrier (glass, wood, ect) actually smashes the front and defeats the point of the round. So just hope they don't walk behind a wall or get in a car lol

    • @ddj350z
      @ddj350z 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Zen Rhees Defensive rounds are not designed to go through stuff and keep going. It is designed to penetrate your target and not go through them in risk of hitting someone else. You want the round to stay in them with stopping power.

    • @zenrhees9083
      @zenrhees9083 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but they advertise that it will perform even after penetration, which they do not. Sorry, they are the ones stating that the round will do things it wont

      @ddj350z 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Now I'm all for personal security, but what is the point of producing ammo that pretty much shreds a person. If you suck that bad at marksmanship to need ammo like this then maybe you need to not own a gun. Its only in due time that this ammo will be outlawed across the nation. Now I'm pro-gun, but ammo like this is taking this too far. Learn how to shoot!

      +Mike Perry the idea is to take a target down as fast as possible. not to make the best scoring shot on the aggressor...
