    I am so thankful for this video. I broke my flash drive and I thought I had to say goodbye to all my data. I called a few IT stores and they all quoted me over $400. Well after watching this video I decided to test my luck. The broken pieces on my flash driver were similar to the ones in this video. So I tried the option of aligning the broken pins to the connector. It took a few tries, but it lit up and I was able to hold it in place and retrieve all my data. Thanks for making this so simple. I hope someone else has the same luck I had!

    Oh my goodness!! I was going to cry and I don't know what else. I bent my flash drive in which I had stored all of my coursework for this unwanted class I had to take for the Florida Dept. of Education. I did everything I could to try to get this thing to work. Your video was the first one to come up, so I decided to watch it. I was able to open the plastic that encloses the components of the flash drive. I saw the pins you were talking about and, as you said, I don't have a small soldering iron. So I used my thumbnail (actual thumbnail). Good thing it was long and was able to hold those pins down enough so that I could get the one file I needed. I can get the others later on to move to another flash drive. It took only 2-3 minutes, but they were painful as I had to press down hard so that the pins stay down and I would not have to restart the whole process after three times of trying. Thank you so much. God bless you.

I’m helping a friend with his program security USB. His kid knocked the USB out of his PC. The USB was bent and ultimately broken. With much difficulty I managed to open and take out the board. This board is not your “typical board” with 4 lines coming out of it. It is “U” shape with 4 points behind it. The question is how would I be able to determine the appropriate pins? Would it possible to solder the cables to the old usb connector head contacts without first removing it from the board? So that u can avoid damaging the board during removal?

    • @ElectronicsComputers
      @ElectronicsComputers  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's possible, but what's the point? If you can do that, then most likely your USB port is properly soldered to the PCB. Instead of soldering, you can simply plug it into your computer and use it normally. The whole point of attaching a USB cable to the PCB is because the USB port is completely or partially detached from the PCB's solder pads.

      Just solder that port down or try to make a contact by pressing the USB connector to the board and then backup your information.

      That's a USB 3.0 connector. You can only connect 4 terminals and it will work as a regular USB 2.0 flash drive.

    This method works! But unfortunately when I connect the wires to the broken USB head my computer makes the connection noise but it automatically states that there is a problem with the device and that it wasn't able to install it successfully. Do you know any fix for my laptop to allow me to access the files? I see it is connecting but it's not appear local disk just getting error messages..

      If you're connecting a USB cable to the PCB board then try to reverse two middle data wires.

      Any USB data cable will do the job. Whether it's going to be "for nothing" or not, you can find out by giving it a try. There are a bunch of variables, and it all depends on your technical skills. I provided simple instructions that would work in most cases for the most basic USB drives; the rest is up to you.
