@@angel_merinan Asian nomadic minority group that lived in China with the Chinese for hundreds of years and were persecuted from time to time (the Chinese intermarried with the Hmong and at one point slaughtered anyone who didn’t look like the a Chinese since they had lighter hair and eye color). After years of intermarriage with the Chinese the original Hmong appearances had disappeared, now having black hair and brown eyes. After the first war with the Chinese, all Hmong documents along with the written language was burnt and destroyed, but they said that the original language is still used in Hmong sewings (however no one knows what the symbols mean).After the second war with them, the Hmong people either stayed and suffered from Chinese oppression or moved down to Vietnam and Laos for freedom. Again the Hmong were also oppressed by the Vietnamese and Laotian government and moved to the mountain side for freedom. After the Vietnam war the Hmong people also live in Thailand, Australia, America, France and some other places i probably don’t about. The language is similar to Mandarin since it’s a tonal language and due to living with the Chinese for hundreds of years, some words are similar in pronunciation. The Chinese word for friend is pengyou (pong yo) and the Hmong word for friend is phoojywg (pong yü). Or you can just Wikipedia Hmong people

There were Hmong students who would occasionally sell egg rolls to fundraise at our high school. You had to run to the foyer where they'd set up for lunch break or they would be GONE. Still the best egg rolls I've ever had.

I used to live 1.5 hours away from a Hmong restaurant and we always loved making a day trip to just get stuffed chicken wings and eggrolls 💖 We moved so we’re always looking for them now! As a Filipino, the Hmong have always felt like family 🥰

@@Isaisback Hmong People are an indigenous/ethnic group and you will also fine them around the north of Thailand. But as far as I know they are not recognized in China or Thailand. Which is another story but it makes it difficult for them to obtain citizenship since they are not seen as Thai either. And along with that a lot of other rights will not be given to them even when they are born in Thailand and they some times are seen as aliens. (In Thailand as I know from some of my friends who are indigenous in Thailand). But other than that they have their own language, traditions and culture 😉

When I was in highschool as an Asian American, I always wished there was a lot more Asian American diversity such as this. I'm from the Midwest and there's actually a lot of Hmong people I am friends with. I am Taidam and it's an interesting history like Hmong and Tibetan people.

I tried to ask why this happens so much because I’ve been alienated by two friend groups that were just Asians, obviously I still have some Asian friends but those experiences made me notice the phenomenon.(also not saying it’s all Asians) the weird thing is I’m also Asian but from west Asia.
