Anecdotally, I’ve heard that Deseret Industries, and more specifically thrift shops in places like southern Nevada and Salt Lake City, have the best inventory out there. There are many places in the US where the thrift stores are really difficult to pull anything profitable out there. If everyone went to eBay lots to try to make money, those lots wouldn’t be profitable any longer. I appreciate the sentiment, but I think it’s also important to realize that not everyone has the resources you do.

Jake I want to say thank you. I appreciate your videos. I have learned a lot and I enjoy your videos the most out of all I watch. I appreciate how transparent you are not only about your reselling business info but parts of your self. I have adult ADHD and other stuff. I also am a very compassionate, empathetic, passionate women and feel like I understand you. I live in Boise Idaho. Thanks again! And yes excuses and opinions are everywhere and you cannot please everyone which we know and there is always a complainer 😊 keep on doing the deal Jake you rock and I love your positivity. Some great quotes I share with others for inspiration to go for their dreams are. " Success is dependant on effort" -Sophocles. "Life grants nothing to us mortals without hard work"-Horace.

Jake, a couple of videos ago you mentioned an app that you use for Amazon that allows you to find video games for a couple of cents on Walmart. Can you please tell us what that app is?

All you have to do is have a 100% sell through rate - yeah right, no one has a 100% seel through rate - look at everyones inventory on the videos - boxes and boxes, sheds full of inventory.

When it comes to making money, you are discounting how much mindset, and subconscious beliefs and patterns play into our self- limiting. It’s 95% of making money. Bottom line.

I used to be angry at people who did retail arbitrage, but it dawned on me that those things are on sale and people had the chance to buy them and they didn’t. You’re helping these items find the right buyers elsewhere.
HOWEVER, there is one style of retail arbitrage that is really slimy, imho. That is when somebody realizes one product or flavor is in higher demand and they buy them all and put them on Amazon and/or EBay at an insanely higher price. That, I find frustrating! Here’s an example: my autistic daughter wouldn’t drink enough water because she hated the taste. I finally discovered the Berry flavored Mio. It has no sugar or artificial sugars, which I liked! Now, she was drinking! I would go to the grocery store and buy 2 bottles, and that worked until suddenly, they were nowhere to be found! At first, I would drive further away, and further, and would find a couple bottles, but eventually there were none. I looked on Amazon, and sure-enough, they were there for 6 times the price! I’m a single Mom of an autistic child who’d FINALLY found a way to drink water and stay hydrated. UGH!!!! That doesn’t seem right. Supply/demand economics…. ya, ya, intellectually, I get it. But, it just seemed wrong!
I hope you’re not one of the people who do this.

@@JrideFlips As always Jake, your insight is invaluable.
In yours and Sonny's podcast today, you mentioned how those debate/argument/comment "chains" can be helpful (i.e. profitable) to a content creator. I'd be more than happy to get one or two started off for ya sometime. Ya know, to show my appreciation and whatnot 😉

Hey- Very happy I found your channel. I am in Northern Colorado, and have a FT job, but I am soon going to start reselling on eBay and maybe flyp. I had a successful “brokering” biz in the past mainly in board level electronic components, before all mfg went offshore… sure exactly how soon I will be able to scale it up PT, but my goal to start is 5 listings per day- stick with about 5 or so niches, and I have already been lightly sourcing at garage sales, estate sales, thrifts, etc. Also have at least 50 items around here that will help start up. I appreciate all your experience and specific information.. and your honesty and positive attitude.. Wish me luck- I am considering creating some content starting from ground zero…. Thank you for all you do!

Imma be honest ive searched hella thrift stores. Looked at Facebook marketplace for local listings and such and havent found munch of anything at a decent price to resell and that also has a high sell through rate. Starting to think jake is just in a good area for a reseller. Im around LA tho and seems like everybody knows about reselling and therefore prices everything according to ebay prices or worse.

Garage sales should be your first step, best pricing. Estate sales can be very good too but you have to look at the companies running them and learn which ones to skip

I am at 128 active, 136 sold in 2 months, only spending a few hours total per week. I really want to start learning retail arbitrage because my thrift store is generally really poor but I have multiple Ross/Walmart/TJMaxx/etc close. I've mostly been getting stuff from Facebook Marketplace, like big video game lots for 50% value.

7 a day at $22 profit gives you $56,210/year before taxes and any other fees. Do you have any useful formulas or recommendations to find the actual net income after all fees and taxes?

I did this last night, you can do it in an excel sheet. I do 85% of the value, and then take an additional 87% of the 85 to account for taxes net gain. 13% has been my 1099 total in previous years after deductions, but I'm new to reselling so we'll see

@@JrideFlips it would be so cool to see you find listings that could be improved on Amazon/eBay. That would be interesting content.
I had a question though; soon to be reseller, I'm looking for formulas to plug into excel to run some numbers and it has been a looong time since high school math...
Any resources on excel formulas/numbers you look at to help your business scale?
