I always say good morning and break the ice with a joke. One that I use often before I even get to looking at their items is I'll give a quick broad look back and forth, then say "so where is it?" They look a little confused and ask where is what. The guy up the street says you have cake. Always gets at least a chuckle. Sometimes they say we have donuts. Even if I don't see anything I want, I made someone smile. That's a good thing for humanity. Loving your video's. I watched one earlier today that had me revising my entire store. Not done yet but put a solid 3 hours into it. Thank you.
It helps to compliment people. I try to say something nice about their house, garden, location, etc. Always be nice to their pets or children if they're wandering around. It' doesn't take much, "This sure is a nice place you have here." "Wow, your flowers are beautiful."
You are right. I recently hired a contractor for some deck work and he never commented on my new kitchen install while I made him lunch in the new $28,000 new kitchen. Anyone else thats been here has commented on who I used and etc. GOOD POINT.
These tips are right up my alley. 👍👍 I had a lady give me allllll of her needlepoint, embroidery and quilting books magazines and equipment just because I told her my niece would flip over this stuff. Told her the story about how nobody in our family has ever had the talent until she came along and now it's so incredibly special to receive these family made heirlooms. She was so happy to get them to someone who would appreciate them as much as she did. I never said I was going to give these to my niece, lol... But if she's reading this she can have it all. 👀😆 People love to know their beloved collections will be loved.
Speaking of blessing people, the compliments and jokes can make a person's day. Whether we something from people or not, we are spreading joy around while we're out finding inventory. You can tell if the sellers are needing or trying to make money or if they're just trying to get rid of stuff. We don't make them lower the price. We aren't manipulating them. They can choose their prices. We can buy or not. Some people use their own sales techniques on me, too. It's just business.
I like that you are sharing exactly what I would have said myself, let's Me know I'm doing things right. Kudos for being straightforward and not wasting people's time like so many other youtubers.
You always have great tips. I just came back from making a killing at a church parking lot sale. It really does make a difference if you are friendly and talk to people.
I appreciate what you are saying here-there really is a positive aspect of reselling- we are helping them and they help us - I would add that it is very positive for those who are so concerned about the environmental impact of everything.
As a reseller I know that we are helping keep items out of the landfills and getting items to people who want and need them for great price, the haters are always going to hate but I don’t care.😂
Profit motive is the driving force behind the free enterprise economy. Buying low to sell high is what it's all about. So if you're at a yard sale and strike a deal through negotiating, then there's no problem especially when a seller can always say no. However, the key is to approach yard sales using the tips you mentioned along with a ton of respect for the seller. I never lead on that I'm a reseller and that my interest is to make a deal so that I can turn around to resell for a profit. I believe that is bad psychology in that it leaves the seller feeling used, vulnerable, and that their "treasures" or junk will not be valued or appreciated. Using this approach has helped me score some great deals while leaving sellers feeling like they too are winners in the game! Just saying...
Thank you so much for helping so many of us! Excellent informative video! Heading to some garage sales now and will implement your wonderful advice! God bless you!
Love these tips. I practice all of them in some way or other. I've learned to talk to people, and I'm really a shy person, but it helps so much to break the ice. I will often pick up something, ask the price. They tell me the price. I thank them. Look it over again set it down and move on. I'm often willing to pay that price but I don't want them to know that. So I circle back around and pick it up again like it caught my eye a second time and I say would you be willing to take x? Never let on that the item has more then a passing interest. Never make them think you are going to buy it regardless until you've got them down to what you feel is their bottom price. Sometimes people won't budge. Usually they will. But if the price is more than right and the competition is around get it before it's gone.
Amazing tips! I cant think of a better term than "jokes" for what you do but i know there must be one. You are displaying lighthearted interest in the seller and who doesnt like that! Im a new subbie and wouldnt miss a video!
went to some yard sales in my (small) town last week and most people were doing the whole multi person/family thing, where theres like 5 peoples things all mixed together and tagged with prices and the persons initials for tracking (and of course those people werent there). whats your experience with these types of yard sales?
Jake tells us NOT to mention the brand name but he mentions he's an ebay seller lol😂 instant destruction. Pro tip just say you're stupid and learning 👍
@@JrideFlipsjust agreeing with you to use TWO tactics in our reselling process. To resell we need good KEYWORDS. When yardsaling we need to use generic words to BUY. Thank you for the feedback all the same.
Do you ever tell people you're a reseller? What about at thrift stores? I feel bad making up stories, pretending something is for me, or a gift for a family member when it isn't.
Your videos are super beneficial for the community but the use of a gaping mouth on photos is a credibility lowering visual? Too many TH-camrs seem to need to use this visual and as a retired advertising image maker I urge you to skip the open mouth visual.
just be a good person and engaging goes a long way. Dont be that Guy or Gal that rushes up to a sale and ask for ie. video games Jewelry Coins or whatever .... At least say Hi or good morning first.

Loving your channel. You are running a business. There is nothing crazy about what you are doing. I'm picking up great tips from you. Hi from florida.

Awesome videos!!! your what we’re looking for
Rockin vid. Great tips
Yes the first tip I do ! Haha good one
You HAVE given us a lot. This was an excellent video :)
Yup I don't say key words that may trigger them to come up a higher price. I'm surprised that I still see famous resellers on TH-cam not doing this.
Great tips! Thanks.
Great advice!

I’ve never been to one quite like that honestly 🤷♂️

do you promote your listings!? I am liking your content thx
I do 2.6% flat across all items I list
So, use KEYWORDS in your listing, but use BURY me in the algorithm when yardsaling…. 😂 love it and do it.
I don’t understand your comment

Damn dog this is all stuff I do naturally with out even realizing it or looking at as a tactic lol I hope I do not ruin the flavor next trip
Hello sir, I started my eBay store recently, I have my return policy that says (buyer pays return shipping), is that ok?
Perfect as it lowers buyers desire to cancel the order.
Yup, you lookin' toasty man. Hope you had some good luck out there
My tip is to dress nicely, understated, no jewelry, and wear no make-up. It shows respect and vulnerability. Being real.
What is the brand of shirt you are wearing I have a hat with that brand and have not been able to identify the M ?

No need to join the other flippers with open mouth thumbnail. Differentiate yourself.
Tip #3 is good
For your first tip, i just say, "how much do you have on this." Nice and simple
Tip #2 ehhh, don't think that would work all the time or at all
12 garage sales in 5 hours? Need more time to look through everything
