So many ghost-type Pokémon have something about draining the live-force out of others in their dex-entries, but there is still no HP-draining move with the ghost-typing.
What about “nightmare”?

1:48 To connect with the iberian peninsulin inspirations of the main game, "Poltchagheist" could ALSO reference "Chá", which is the portuguese word for tea.
Guys, don’t be silly. Every word, for the tea, in the world, even « tea », is connected to one word, « tê » in Min Nan. It’s « thé » in French, « tè » in Italian, « shay » in Arabic, « herbata » in Polish (here, it’s connected to the « ta »), « cha » in Mandarin or Japanese, etc. Each time, there is the sound t, tsh or sh. It’s not a reference to the Portuguese language.
@@jadseif8102 Why are you so mad?
Also, "cha" is in the pokemon's name, and Paldea has inspirations on the iberian peninsula...
I just wanted to share information and complement with something that i thought was relevant, there's no need to be this way :/
Fun fact about the "it's not real champagne" joke, I follow an artist who had one of their Redbubble products removed from the site for copyright reasons because it featured a Cookie Run OC. Not by the Cookie Run devs, no no, but by someone in charge of deciding who gets to use the word champagne. Because the OC was called Rosé Champagne Cookie. They weren't selling any actual alcohol, it was just a damn sticker, but nerts to that I guess cuz these rotten grape sellers gotta protect that precious, precious GENERIC WORD 9_9
Something funny is there was a competition between French wine and California wine and the judge picked the California wine as the winner claiming it had to be the French wine
Dang what a snob 😂
Unless you're in the United States which didn't sign the agreement that you couldn't call your sparkling wine 'champagne' if it wasn't from Champagne... which is how you get California champagne and the French can't do a damn thing about it 😂
@@MyrandaCousland I mean, given that the thing being punished for being called champagne in my initial comment was a fictional character based around a silly mobile game and not actual champagne, that just makes the whole thing even more stupid. Not to mention I thiiiiiink Redbubble is a US-based company (don't quote me on that, but I _do_ know the artist I was referring to is a US-based artist), if that agreement holds any real water then it shouldn't've gotten their sticker removed in the first place.
Anyway, the spirit of that "agreement" shouldn't affect me cuz I'm not drinking it (I've been able to legally drink for ten years but it just doesn't sound appealing to me) on top of being in the US myself, but given I have an original universe where a lot of the characters are named after colors and I just reconfirmed for myself that champagne is indeed a color, I see OC naming opportunities in my future and the wine snobs can kiss my ass about it XD
It’s only real snootiness if it comes from Snooty, France. Everything else is just sparkling assholio

I was almost very upset by that first poof of matcha before the rest of my brain caught up and reminded me that it's not the real stuff, lol
It's real matcha. Tea comes in different grades and he's probably using a low quality supermarket blend that was purposed for mixing into other things.
Could you tell me about some authentic brands?
@@transyuri4534 I'm not a big matcha person given the price but if you wanted to try decent quality matcha, you should consider looking up tea vendors/shops that sell in your country. Matcha and other Japanese green teas do not keep their vibrancy as long as most teas so they are "good" for about a year so I would time your purchase around the spring and summer months so you get the most recent year's harvest with a good amount of time to drink through it. You will still be able to drink it after a year but, if you're going to pay a lot for the tea, you want it to be potent for as long as possible.
Personally, I wouldn't even try to get "authentic" matcha unless you've grown to like the grocery store brands an you want to step your game up since good matcha will burn a hole in your wallet. If you're mixing your matcha into other things then don't bother hunting down ceremonial grade from a reputable seller would be a waste of your money.
yeee, its "real" matcha, made from the same leaves, but MUCH lower grade, the stuff used for flavoring milkshakes and cookies, rather than making actual "real" matcha tea.
@@Gnoggin here's the thing man, I've been passionate about tea for about 7 years and each time I find a new tea, I think it's top shelf, end of the line stuff. Then I try the same tea from a different vendor and I think THAT tea is the best tea I've ever had. The more you learn about and drink tea, the more you learn you know nothing about it since there is over 1000s of years worth of tea to discover ♥️
I like the the convergent evolution gimic! As an Biology undergrad, it's cool to think about how the different niches in Pokémon are filled!
Absolutely! I'd love to see more of them, the idea is so cool!
Youre actually the first person who ive seen point out that it killing people would be why it gets broken and has to repair its self over and over, im sure this was just thought of as an sight gag but i think youre completely right, obviously not everyone has loved ones around but if you did theyd surely act, probably
Ghost is probably my favorite type and maybe a minority take but I love objectmon. It just kind of makes sense for what a ghost Pokemon should be. I particularly love Banette, Aegislash, Chandelure, Palossand, Trevanent, and I even polteageist. I wasn't sure what to think of polchageist because I wasn't sure what it was supposed to be but I appreciate the explanation.
Yeah, object mons get a lot of hate that they don't deserve
Object mons are so underrated
objectmons honestly have a lot of potential for creativity, ESPECIALLY ghost types!
Agree
I like object-mon too, but with one caveat: there needs to be a lot of thought, and they need to look cool. Like, I like Banette and the Slash line, because they have a lot of thought and references, meanwhile Clefkey… eh. It doesn’t feel like there’s more thought to that one, and I think that’s my biggest quibble around object-mon. There needs to be a lot of detail and thought, IMO, which Polchageist does! It has the details of ceremonies and ritual in its origin story, it has lots of ghostly behaviors that fit its paranormal inspirations, it feels well rounded and has a lot of thought.
Yeah, another thing about the tea ceremony is that there are two kinds of matcha made in it...a thick matcha and a thinner matcha. Also fun anime/manga character fact: Mitarashi Anko from Naruto enjoys performing tea ceremonies...yeah...it's kinda weird when you see how she acts during the Chunin exam arc and just how the characters have been flipped a bit by fandom but Kurenai likes vodka and Anko likes performing tea ceremonies...in the fandom Kurenai is usually the more reserved one and is dragged into drinking with Anko who is almost never mentioned performing tea ceremonies.
Just wanted to say, Polchageist is specifically a chaire (pronounced chai ray (kinda)), and he seems to be specifically in the kuro oribe style, the glaze style and pattern being very intentional
Living, or living thing in Hebrew can be spell “chai” (close to “chaei”) in English, but it is pronounced very differently 😅. It’s pronounced with a sound not in English, so I don’t know how to explain it in a comment, but trust me, it’s very different.
It’s spelled with chet (ח), which makes a sound like hawking up spit in the back of your throat.
@@eskarinakatz7723 that’s a good explanation, thanks
I was thrown for a loop when he said that, I was just like WAIT WHAT before I realized it was just him pronouncing it weirdly.
Like the Jai part of Jaime in Spanish.
I actually commented about it as well, lol.
I compared it to "blech" and Greman "ich".
The glowing green powder that sucks a person's life away also makes me think of radium used in dishes in the early-mid 20th century. Like with the Radium Girls, who painted it on watches and were encouraged to use their lips to keep the tip of their paintbrushes thin, so they were ingesting the stuff and slowly getting sick.
Lockstin staying covered in macha until the very end of the video just to stay committed to the bit is pure company gold
It fits completely with the Tsukumogami and the Kinsugi ideas, since it was said that "those objects that stayed a long time in a household sometimes went missing because they were fighting a bad demon or protecting their family from an evil omen or something, and they returned broken or shattered." That's why mostly they repaired those objects through Kinsugi, to honour them.
Me: Time to learn about this new Sinistea evolution!
Lockstin: It's the Wiglett thing again, convergent evolution.
>I flip nearest table
Honestly I dont think it's really a convergent. It has way too much in common with sinistea in order to just be a convergent.
I'm starting to think that gf made this just to mess with us.
@@user-hs1xb9tv6e I mean, seems pretty convergent to me. Different spirits possessing similar but different tea implements. Sinistea and Polteageist are a cup and pot of hot tea, whereas Poltchageist is a container of matcha powder rather than an actual cup of tea
Maybe I'll make it a gag, because at this point I really just cant read.
Sinistcha, is the actual evolution, so its very interesting to see that a convergent evolution actually reverses the order of evolution. Going to be a good addition to my Shiny Antiquity Polteageist, but I don't look forward to hunting another shiny version of the high quality version.
Wabi-sabi is literally just "beauty in imperfections" and that's so beautiful in and of itself
Yes, there should totally be more object mon, as long as they aren’t literally just the object.
If you think about it, we encountered these tea mon out of order. Tea reached Britain *from* Japan, and it seems the tendency of ghosts to be drawn to the tea followed suit. Hence why they're two different lineages, not subspecies.
6:13 I've heard of this in Avataro Sentai Donbrothers. The blue ranger Saru Brother, civilian name Shinichi Saruhara, is a practitioner and in the final episode for a brief while teacher of it. He's an eccentric who eats imaginary ramen when he cant use a haiku as payment (his catchphrase is "And now a Haiku") and doesn't carry any money (he considers it evil and claims it burns him) but owns a an old-fashioned Japanese mansion where he's the sole resident. Also he has a keen sense of mind and solves mysteries around his neighborhood (he also uses mystery solving as a form of payment), earning him the title of "professor" and his sheer level of control over his own mind can overcome hunger.
Just a small correction but the pronunciation and spelling for tea in China is just “cha”, “chai” and “o cha” are both derived from the Chinese word
in Portugal we call it "Chá"
@@hugosilva9502 Every word in the world is derivated from the chinese. « Tea », « Thé », « Tè » « Shai », etc. It’s not only in Portuguese.
The reference to Pavitr's "it's like you're saying tea tea" made me happy for no apparent reason ✨
I fell in love with this pokemon from the moment I saw it. I can't wait to use it and knowing all the lore just adds to it.
Maybe the evolution will have the tea ladle (and maybe it could learn wood hammer like how a mother uses a spoon)
Fun fact: almost all of Asia calls tea ''chai'' and it bled into Europe as well, in Romania (unlike other latin countries) we call it ''ceai'' and we got the terminology from the ottomans

Just came back to this channel after a little while, still having fun.
1:34 he said the thung 🤯
I just did a Kintsugi workshop with an expert from Japan on the 3rd, and the topic of this Pokemon came up. I learned an interesting fact; that Matcha would not make a good material for Maki-e. The colour of Matcha is not bright enough, so it would just be overshadowed by the much darker black or red Urushi that they use as glue to put the item back together. Second fun fact, Urushi has the same chemical in it that poison ivy has that causes reactions in most people!
I just watched this video, but I think it's important to mention that the 3 dots ( 6:48 ) are a map marking used in japan to represent tea plantations. Just like we will use a cross for a hospital or some trees for a park here in the west

We'll casually powder the room, this is fine. Another reason not to use fingers is that the oils and contaminates on the skin can ruin what's not drawn from the container, similarly with things like catnip where its better to pour a bit onto the container lid or into a hand rather than reach inside.
I am loving this lil guy, I think I will add it to my team

Hi, I'm once again explaining Pokémon names in German. Today, I'm talking about Poltchageist. In German, it is names "Mortcha", which combines "mors", the latin word for "dead", with matcha and "Mortipot", the German Name für Polteageist.
And that's it. Because I only talk about one Pokémon, this comment is pretty short, but I hope you enjoyed reading it.

Good call. The evolution does have the whisk. A tattered whisk is on its head like a hat or hair.

I’ll be waiting for a bloodmoon ursaluna video!!! 😍
Its carrying a matcha whisk worked in a warehouse where matcha tea sets were sold and these things were labeled as whisks.
5:33 bro if I lived in Japan I would be made of gold at this point
The intro reminds me of the scene from Across the Spiderverse where Pavitr is getting mad about chai tea.
Hey L&G, long time watcher and enjoyer! I was wondering if you could cover the Pawniard line, like origin and what they’re based on? Idk if you take request like this but either way keep up the good work!
I swear every video Lockstin get's more unhinged like Mark and Ethan during [Redacted]
im happy youre awake now do a video on varoom cyclizar and orthworm
Welp, technically yeah, the hebrew word for alive (חי) IS spelled in english as chai but the ch is actually a very pronounced version of h that is way more common in hebrew then in english (not sure if the letter ח's sound has a one to one equivellant in english)
Fun fact about “tea” vs “chai”, most Asian languages call it some variation of the Chinese “cha”, but in the west we call it “tea”. That’s because when Dutch explorers made first contact with the Min Nan people of coastal Fujian, their specific dialect pronounced it like “te”, so European traders began calling it “tea” because that’s what they heard it was called on first contact, despite the widespread Asian consensus being cha/chai/chay.
Those three dots on Poltchageist are also how old maps in Japan represented tea crops :)
You make learning about pokemon fun. My favorite so far was the Toadscool and Tentacool video. I never learned so much about fungus. Also named my shiny Toadscool Fun Guy. 🤭
I very much perfer this form then regular sinistea. Also learning about design origins is my favorite things about Pokémon designs.
The moment lockstin passes out, i got the Ad of poltchageist reveal video
Teal mask DLC Spoiler origin facts:
For the New poison trio they are based on the Story momotaro about the boy who's born from a peach and their colors are swapped with the one on the otherside of the colorwheel
Red=green
Yellow=purple
Blue=Orange
Infact they are completely swapped the color just being a hint towards it thus they are the evil ones in this Story instead of the Oni
I like object mon but I would want more big ones. I like archaludon or duraludon for this instant but they also look a bit like living beings like animals rather than just the objects. I love the anchor Pokémon because it’s just so cool and big. I would love to have more big and bulky object mon rather than small ones. Maybe a regional form of Phantombild euch end up being a chimney or a shopping cart ( not like I have seen such designs from Deadspreadbed or something )
Is lockstin really gonna make a short out of every state now? Omg. It's easier to clip than to make dedicated videos I suppose.
My personality will revolve around this pokemon for the next year or 2. I love Ghost types and this pokemon is just so cute. Also can’t wait to see if it’ll have a hidden ability or an extra ability as those who don’t play doubles might see the ability useless
2:34 wine and champagne do have a difference depending on where it's made
The grapes themselves, the soil from which the plant takes its nutrients etc etc
That's why a Bourgogne is different from a Bordeaux which is different from other wines and you can guess the same thing applies to Champagne
Though sometimes the same ingredients planted in slightly out of champagne aren't called champagne which is kinda stupid
when i saw the evolution with the broken whisk i immediately remembered this video
1:52 The Hebrew word "חי" is pronounced like "high" but with a roll in the first sound that doesn't exist in English, which is why it is sometimes transliterated as "chai", but it isn't pronounced like the word for tea. Living thing is "חיה" (haya), while "חי" just means "life". I think it's a stretch here, because ghosts are very importantly not alive and "living thing" here means more like animal as opposed to an object that is alive.
I do wonder if it does have an evolution if it'll be more focused on the kintsugi angle and reform its still broken self into a more positive Pokémon. Like it has already been repaired a bit but still has holes in it.
The evolution already leaked
I like how this released like a day after the evolution leaked
I've never tried match tea before, to be honest. I've been wanting to, but I'm not sure if I can make it correctly. ^^; Also what a mess. I can't even imagine how long it took it get all that powder out.
Don't put matches in tea
I've had Japanese Matcha flavored kit kats before. They're alright
I've had Matcha flavored Pocky before...got kinda addicted to it lol. Personally when it comes to tea (that isn't southern sweet tea) I'm partial to Oolong tea...I've tried the canned Matcha tea and it's...not quite right in my opinion but that could be due to my love of sweet tea and so unsweetened tea just tasted wrong to me when I was younger. I"m older now so I'll have to give it another go with Matcha.
they make concentrated matcha that you just mix with milk. id describe the taste as unsalted seaweed
Make sure it's good quality, the cheap stuff can be rather bitter.
I, personally, like it with a bit of bite, but a good one should be mellow and comforting.
Perfectly timing this a day after sinistcha was leaked is kinda hilarious ngl
1:32 We all know what he's talking about
