    Solid vid, as always, Damian. This lens has become my favorite travel and general walk around lens. Very light, no dust suck, excellent IQ. For low light or strong out of focus backgrounds, I use primes anyway, so the half stop loss at the tele end (compared to the 18-55) does not worry me. Plus the 16mm at the wide end is a godsend.

    8:35 excellent foto. Who else does like to see a grown man chewing on his finger! THX for capturing this.

    Been on holidays with the XC 15-45 recently. What a great little and light travel lens. Got loads of great shots from it. Got it in mint condition for 100 €. Think that's an absolute bargain!

    Great video about this lens. What have changed from the older lens? No OIS, internal zoom, higher resolution and WR.

    Superb images and great image quality too, and the camera is just beautiful. I like that this zoom lens doesn't extend but I would have preferred f4 instead of f4.8. Still I'm considering buying it. Thanks for your videos and I hope you enjoyed your journey including in Switzerland where I live. Cheers

    I have the 18-55 and the 15-45. 16mp & 40mp cameras. I don’t think the new one will be required. 15-45 is my lens of choice. Very helpful video, thank you.

      Technically I think the older lens was the Fujifilm XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS II Lens but everybody talks about the 18-55.

    I got this lens with my x-t5 after upgrading from an x-t3 with the 18-55. I like it, it’s small and light, and as someone who likes taking nature shots in wet/cold weather it suits my needs. I find the images are pleasant and easy to edit in dxo photolab. I use this along with the 70-300 and I think the value for money with this setup is decent. I am looking at getting a small prime for days when I fancy going to take more street oriented or for indoor/family photos in the future. I’m undecided on one of the f2 lenses or the 27mm f2.8 though. Any advice on a prime?

    • @DamianBrown
      @DamianBrown  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry this is so late! You've got a great set up and assuming it hasn't changed.. I think the 27mm is a very small little lens that could work great for what you need. Even the XC or XF35 f2 if you want a tiny bit more reach

      @richardturner81 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ thanks for the reply Damian 🙂 I ended up going for the 27mm for its compact size. Really pleased with it 👍🏻

    If weight and size doesn't matter, would you recommend the 16-55 f2.8 over the 16-50?

    • @DamianBrown
      @DamianBrown  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you have IBIS yes. Easily.

    Will I buy... Not as a stand alone lens, maybe when i buy a new body and if i get a good deal on a kit i'd pick it up.
    I like the internal zoom for video on a gimbal but would prefer a fixed aperture across the range (F/4, keep it light and small)
    I'm waiting to see if the new 16-55 has internal zoom.
    I'd get the 18-120... but I need wider those extra 2mm do make a difference

    • @DamianBrown
      @DamianBrown  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bit late sorry, did you decide now the 16-55 is out?

    • @9Mtikcus
      @9Mtikcus 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DamianBrown I was disappointed that the new 16-55 lens has no internal zoom, so it's a no for me.
      I'm not in a rush to be honest. but for the work i do with a gimbal really do want the internal zoom, and would love an F/2.8

    As I have refused to "progress" beyond my S10, which would very, very definitely have been a S20, released after my S10 purchase- not happy Fujifilm, then this lens may, however only may, have had some real interest.
    That said, am still very happy with the so called "kit lens" that was purchased 2nd hand in mint condition. This excellent zoom continues to do all I ever ask & plus the assortment of Fuji (& Sigma) fast primes, will not see me being sucked into the vortex of Fuji Gas.
    BTW, still waiting for Fujifilm to join the rest of the competition with modern , fast and accurate AF, the company appears indifferent.

    I am going to receive the X-T50 with the 15-45mm, a cheapy lens with great IQ and OIS, I will see if I am going to use it…

      @thebitterfig9903 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      From all I've heard, the 15-45 punches up. Handling is kinda cruddy due to power zoom, but IQ better than the other XC budget standard lenses. At least at 26mp.

    • @philipcooper8297
      @philipcooper8297 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I still own the xc 15-45mm and the IQ is genuinelty amazing. The OIS isn't that effective, but still usefull. My copy of the xc 15-45mm is corner to corne shapr regardless of the focal lenght; stop it down to f/5.6-f/7 to get there though. Not even my all time favourite xf 18-135mm gets this sharp between 18mm and let's say 30mm. That being said the xf 18-135mm has amazing OIS (hand held 135mm at 1/20 amazing), but costs considerably more than the xc 15-45mm.

      Most of the Fuji XC lens are very sharp. After all, some of them use the exact same optics as their XF version. For example, the XC 35 F/2 has the same exact optics as the XF 35 F/2 only that its body design is different and losing weather resistance.

    Like most kit lenses... probably worth it in a kit, but maybe not stand-alone. From a landscape perspective, seems nearly perfect--for that use case OIS and f/2.8 aren't as useful as WR. Sharper than the than the other standard zooms, except the 16-55/2.8 and this is a lot lighter than that. For someone shooting events, or street without a prime, maybe video, I can see what folks would prefer about the older models.

    • @brownbear100
      @brownbear100 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      But for landscape a) both wider and longer are more interesting, b) even if 16-50 floats your boat you want corner to corner sharpness with as little correction needed as possible to achieve that.
      The 8-16 is too big and too dedicated for me, but so long as you avoid the extremes the 10-24 and third party options are decent enough. Why I prefer primes for landscape - even if convention dictates zooms are better. 14, 23mm, 50-140 is a kit light enough for alpine hiking.
      This lens for me as all about convenience in a take anywhere package. A bit like the 30mm f2.8, very versatile and easy to live with but don't expect it to blow your socks off.

    • @thebitterfig9903
      @thebitterfig9903 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@brownbear100 While I think that does sound like a good kit, it’s also significantly pricier. If someone was new to the X-Mount system, was looking at landscape rather than event, this is the standard zoom to go for, rather than the Sigma or Tamron, or the older Fuji standard zooms. Skipping standard zooms altogether is a discussion that may be worthwhile. I’ve had some fun hikes taking good pictures with just a short telephoto and a wide prime.
